Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Always be my first choice This is the 20th year of this Crowne.I can hardly remember how many days i have spent in this lovely hotel.The upgraded room for my PLTN card is nice and well prepared.The front desk staffs are as helpful and knowledgeable as they could be. Time has changed but not the quality of this Crowne.They got experienced old staffs as well as energetic young staffs.This healthy team make this hotel always on the top of my hotel list.The best location of all IHG hotels in Shanghai. So,as a PLTN member,no reason for me at all to say no!I recommend this hotel to you. November 14, 2012

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Avoid this hotel if you can I stayed here many times out of necessity of being close to where I needed to be. Otherwise I stayed away from it. The hotel staff are consistently dishonest and trying to take advantages of customers anyway they could. The way they refused to honor Priority member's benefit such as complimentary upgrade and offering more costly room rates until they got caught, by me, a Platinum member. I would not say the staff are friendly, but they are not friendly, either. The room facility in the old building is mediocre at the best. Rooms in the new wing are quite good and expensive. But in general the experience are quite negative whenever I encountered unpleasant staff at front desk. For Priority members there are plenty of choices in Shanghai. November 12, 2012

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not same perks as other IHG Properties I would recommend not going to this property if you are expecting the same perks you would get at other Crowne Plazas or Intercontinentals. First of all, I was informed that only Platinum members get room upgrades (not Gold members). Then I was given only ONE drink coupon for the lounge bar even though there were two of us. When I asked them about it (I thought it was oversight), they said only the actual member is given a drink coupon. Then they said that Gold members get a welcome basket of fruit... I saw no such thing. For the price you pay, it's not worth where it's located (unless where you want to go is really close by), and it's disappointing because it seems to follow policies different from others. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly and Helpful Staffs Friendly greetings from the Reception Rooms well cleaned by housekeeper Best of all the concierge staffs are professional. They have assisted me with documents which I have to courier to my Shanghai's Clients. They have extended their help to me. I would definately returned to this hotel for my next trip. The massage place is a must to go after a long day, price very reasonable. There are two shops, go to the one downstairs for better services. October 23, 2012

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bad restaurant service I could not fault the service in the Club lounge however what a drop in service attitude when i had a meal in the restaurant. Sorry to say the attitude of thecooking staff in the buffet restaurant was unhelpful and verging on down right rude. They work to rule strictly and are not helpful to customers needing to have a quick meal before going to the airport. Also the standard of buffet is not to the level of other Holiday Inns and Crown Plaza in Shanghai so sorry i cannot recommend this hotel. Also this questionair is driving me crazy with all its rules on what can and cannot appear. i will not answer again. October 22, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Customer service I was in the room and some other guest came in the room. They rented my room twice. Luckily i was by myself and reading newspaper. But i was outrageous and i have never thought that a good hotel like this will do such a mistake. Think about a women guest. What will happen to her? Even i was flicked out. October 5, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Very comfortable and accommodating. During my recent stay at The Crowne Plaza Shanghai I was welcomed with a big smile at Reception. My room was already allocated and the check-in process was totally pain free. I visit Shanghai on a regular basis for business purposes and always choses to stay at this Hotel. All Staff are very obliging, helpful and even afford time to ask how your day was. Particular thanks to Janice and her Staff in Charlie's Bar for the excellent service they provide. I intend to re visit this Hotel in the future on many ocassions and I have no hesitation to recommend others to do so. October 3, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Good location, breakfast and maids but the executive lounge is under all critique The location is great, within walking distace to Shanghai metro line 10 and you are within 10-15 min by subway or taxi to pretty much anything central. The frontdesk is quite nice. The staff is helpful and do their job well. The restaurant and the breakfast is good and the staff there is serviceminded and friendly. I stayed at the Executive floor, the rooms and other commodities are nice and the maids do a wonderful work keeping the room cleaned and refilled. The last thing to mention is the executive lounge. This is the reason I will probably not visit this hotel again. The happy hour is not worth calling a happy hour. 5 slices of ham and 5 slices of cheese, no bread or crackers. There were approx 15 premade sandwichwes but they were all taken in one minute and after that, never refilled (i guess the other guests knew that once they were finished they would never be replaced). The staff doesn't seems to care if the area is refilled or if the bottles is empty or not. And when I asked them if they could replace an emty bottle, the staff always gave the feeling I was bothering them. I got the same attitude when I asked them about refilling the snacktable. All kind of excuses about busy kitchens and that bread and crackers only were for breakfast time. I recommend this hotel for people expecting english speaking service in a nice area with a confortabe bed and a quiet room. However, people thinking of staying in the executive floor, if it is not for the extra computer desk in your room, THINK TWICE before spending the extra cash over a regular kingsize room. However, the overall attitude of hotel staffs are really not very friendly, they tend to show you poker face. And rarely provide any smile or greeting at all. August 3, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Double charge me on my hotel bills To be honest, it's a great hotel with an ideal location. The issue was that the hotel has charge me twice on my bill and I only found out few weeks later while I was going through my bills. I made a call to the front desk that they had double-billed me but they say that their system only shows one deduction. After I insist that they put me to someone more senior, they transfer me to the accounts department. Finally the accounts department admits that there was a double deduction but will take a while for the reversal. The reasons provided was that it was a machine error which I find unacceptable. The monies were finally reversed . But till now, I do not received any letter or calls from the management about this incident. I would definitely think twice coming here again. July 24, 2012
