I have had the opportunity to stay at the Sohar Crowne Plaza numerous times over the last three years and the service has always been exemplary; from reservations, to front desk and especially the room service staff. They have been friendly and helpful in making each stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. The only negative is the occassional internet/gsm problems (which have improved greatly) caused by the service provider in this industrial region of Oman.

Crowne plaza sohar is a really nice place to stay, i stayed there 10 days, i found this hotel best in town to stay.

I stayed at the Crowne Plaza in mid-February (3rd time) and the stay was enjoyable for the most part. The hotel is very nice and the staff are very personable but as mentioned in other reviews it is pretty well off on its own away from any other immenities. At times, the pool area was not staffed during the stated hours so we had to go and find a server when we wanted to place an order for lunch or refreshments. Nothing major but you would expect more at a Crowne Plaza.
Without playing up the benefits of being a Priority Club Platinum member, I was very suprised when I was assessed extra charges for an early check-in and also for a late check-out. It was quite obvious that the hotel was not that full so this certainly surprised me....it seemed to be just a cash-grab. I have stayed at IHG hotels around the world and have never had this happen to me before.
This will certainly be considered on my next stay in the Sohar area.

Only two minutes outside the city. Can't wait until the new Airport open.

I'm often in Sohar and I always stay in this hotel, it is the best hotel in Sohar, but there are no many other hotels in Sohar which have an acceptable standard.
The hotel itself is nice and clean, good restaurants and a sports bar. The sports bar is very nice, the food is very good and the price is absolute ok. They have live music in this bar, but the sound is absolute too high, if they are making music it is not possible to talk to each other.
The breakfast is ok, but the price a little bit too high in my opinion. What is really bad is the service during the breakfast. You have always to wait a very long time for the service staff and they are working very slow. Last time, only few tables were occupied with guests, however 90 % of the other tables were not cleaned and the tables have not been cleared of used dishes. This really disappoints me and it is happens every stay.

Having stayed in many hotels this one is well appointed and well laid out.
The facilities are very good and generally the service is good. On this visit I was let down by the service and the food on offer at the sports bar. Clearly on the night I visited they were understaffed and ran out of basics such as burgers? The alternative steak sandwich was average?
Must try harder if prices are to be justified.
