We usually stay at this hotel for the seminars that are held there. The rooms are very comfortable and modern. The only downfall we had on our last visit was we decided to eat at the hotel restaurant instead of going out to a nearby one. The food was very good but the service was very slow. It took 1 1/2 hours to get our meals. There were approx. 15 guests at the time. Recommend the restaurant if you have a lot of time to relax and eat.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by JohnRobert53 Fix your vending and upgrade rooms
Outstanding customer service by the late night desk clerk, room service waiter and Sunday brunch cook. They went the extra mile to take care of me during my odd scheduled work days. The downside to this experience was your infrastructure. I looked at a neatly printed "out of order" signs on all 11th floor vending and ice machines during my five day stay. FIX THEM! My hotel room refrigerator had no shelving to be found. Why are there no microwaves in the rooms? I returned from work late one weekend night to find a luggage cart out in the parking lot. It had a garbage bag and broken car parts on it with no one remotely resembling hotel staff within view. Lastly, there was a miscommunication with maid service, as I didn't receive service on Saturday. I asked the maid to return in a few minutes so I could vacate the room while she cleaned but no one returned.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by JayZ27 Executive Suite for Wedding
I booked the two room King suite/executive suite as a place for my bridesmaids and I to get ready for my wedding as well as my new husband and my wedding night suite. The room was amazing and very clean and I had absolutely no complaints with the room and amenities at all. However, there was a car show I was not informed of until the day of check in. The car show took up the whole entire parking lot and considering this is a "convention center" along with a hotel I knew it was a possibility something big would be going on that weekend. However, this became a MAJOR problem when it came time to unload everything out of cars because even the "drop off" area in front of the hotel was selfishly being used by members of the car show to just park their cars or take their time unloading huge truck loads of stuff out of their trucks. It made for a miserable time for a bride in her wedding dress and veil along with bridesmaids, photographers, and family members to park in the hotel parking lot next door (huge pain) and try not to ruin hair and all the other wedding things as well. I highly suggest if you plan on booking NOT to go to this hotel if there is a car show. There should have been at least one aisle of parking open for guests who paid their money and dues to the hotel. Otherwise, this hotel is very nice.

We stayed last month for the "Olds Show". Maid service was great. Everyday, room was neat and restocked. Only problem is what is that top sheet made of - felt like Plastic?
and Also, in Bathroom, no railing to help us hold on while exiting the tub. Scary.
Breakfast buffet was delicious. Eggs- the best. Service, very good.
We were there before for Olds Show. Enjoy the roof, where we can look out at the beautiful Cars.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Steve30000 Is not representative of other Crown Plaza experiences
- Room had an odor
- Hallways had fan blowing on carpet which could indicate water leak.
- My stay did not include the same amenities that I have always received from other CP stays. which includes previous stays at this very hotel.
- There was no extra attention paid to platinum members such as members club, manager's reception, breakfast, etc.
- Did not receive the sleep packet either night of my stay.
- Both room had toilet issues. I was relocated from my first room after the first night due to toilet repairs needed.
- The alarm clock in my second room was not what I have found as the standard quality clock radio in CP properties.
- There was a large conference taking place and one of the two escalators was not operational.
I have not stayed at this property in two years in which time I have witnessed a serious decline in the accommodations and service. I am a huge fan of Crown Plaza, but overall I was very disappointed with the property on this visit.

They had an olds convention in town that took up most of the parking lot. They could have reserved sufficent spaces in the front so that parking was easier. The staff was pretty good quelling a fight between two olds owners

I highly recommend this hotel. The rooms/ bed were very comfortable. The staff was quite accommodating. I was here for a convention and the atmosphere, ambiance, comfort and rooms were exceptional. I would hold an event at the Crowne Plaza-Springfield again.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Cat7 Disappointed past guest
I have stayed at this Crowne NUMEROUS times in the past and have recommended it to many of my friends and colleagues.
This time I was very disappointed. The window did not fit well so I heard more outside noise than normal, the linens and bedding felt like tissue paper and crackled and were weighty and uncomfortable. I miss the Egyptian type sheets and the comforter type comforter experienced in the past.
I could not find the knob to make the tub into a shower, so, therefore, had to attempt to get in and out of the tub to wash up...which is very difficult when you have problem knees. .Upon check-out when I advised the clerk of my trouble with the shower, she informed me that they had replaced most of the shower controls. It would be nice if there was some kind of notice of how to operate the same.
It was great having a small fridge, but it was noisy all night long.
In the past as a Crown Rewards member, I was given the "extra" of a complimentary breakfast in the dining room and even coupons for 2 for 1 drinks in the bar. This time I was given the choice of free coffee (which I do not drink) or free Wi-Fi (which I did not need). Not much value for my loyalty and rate.
There is only one ice machine on each floor, and guess what... the machine on my floor was "out of order". The only real positive was that was when I did call down for ice, it was brought to the room in a very expeditious manner. Thank you.
The room itself was very clean, but, did notice a few spots where the wallpaper is coming loose at seam.
I will be coming to Springfield again in November, in fact, I will be coming to the area at least 3-4 times over the next 4 years, and had originally planned on staying at the Crowne again. Now I am not sure I will.
If I do recommend to others in the future, it will be with the knowledge of my last stay.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Jake199 Terrible bed and snooty
Asked reservation representative if breakfast was included and response was that the hotel was a high end hotel with full bar and high end resturant, etc. I ate at said resturant and my I'll take any $10 steak I've ever had over the $34 steak I got in the resturant. Plus a week earlier I was at (what I thought was a comparable "high end" hotel) and everything was perfect and the bed was so nice I can't remember the last time I'd slept so well AND 'Made to Order' Breakfast was included with the room. Included breakfast does not equal cheap hotel as the reservation represenative eluded.
Furthurmore the beds were so bad that I figure they were older then I am. My back never bothers me, and my back was so sore after sleeping on those beds. The furnishings matched the hotel and were really nice, but as a whole my impression of the hotel was that it was dated and in ill repair for being a "high end" hotel.
The first morning my toilet overflowed. I can't remember the last time I have seen a toilet overflow (maybe 10 years or more) since most toilets are 1.6 gal/flush or less and you have to flush several times before creating enough water to fill the bowl. The bathroom filled with water wall to wall and I had to wade through the water 'from the toilet' to use a wash cloth to tie up the float in the tank to stop the flow of water. Staff did dry the floor, but did not mop and I our floor had not been mopped until the next day if not for the rest of our stay. Toilet in room was a 1.6 gal/flush toilet and if kept in good repair should never have overflown - plus I know what a 1.6 gallon flush looks like and the toilet ran much more then that the entire stay.
My previous stay at an IHG hotel was better but also below expectations for an IHG hotel. Apears like a trend. However after staying at the Crowne Plaza in Sringfield, IL I stayed at a Holiday Inn and Suites in Milwaukee, WI in a similar room and it was more spacious and I was very pleased - I would value the room much higher and be willing to pay much more at that hotel then at the Crowne Plaza Springfield (even though it was not a high end Crowne Plaza).

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by ryan67 Great service, nice views
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were nice and clean. The rooftop pool and deck were particularly nice, with views of Lake Springfield (although all you could see from our room was the power plant). The fridge in the room was a nice bonus. Plus, we were only minutes from D'Arcy's! Walls are a little thin, but other than that we had a great stay.

Always had very enjoyable stays. Accommodations were excellent and the staff went out of their way to assist in any way possible. Regrettably, we learned during our last visit that State University employees were no longer eligible for the State rate discount; therefore, we will have to make other arrangements. We will miss our visits to the Crowne Plaza.

In 2012 our ball team stayed and everything in the hotel was great!!! When we went in 2013 some things had changed. The sheets were horrible. Every time someone moved in the bed the sheets made a lot of noise. It kept everyone in our room awake. I'm not sure why the hotel chose these sheets. The experience was horrible! Also this hotel has double beds instead of queen beds.

Our stay was good, the room and facility was excellent. Our rate was very fair. However, after checking out and traveling less than two hours our granddaughter realized she had left her Teddy Bear and Sheepie in her bed. We were on a time schedule and could not turn back so I IMMEDIATELY called. I had to leave a voice mail and continued to call back until I actually spoke with the gentleman in charge of lost and found. He later called me back explaining that they had found the Sheepie but the Teddy Bear was still missing. I again explained that they were TOGETHER in the bed and Teddy should be where they found the Sheepie. The Sheepie is white and approximately 5 inches long while Teddy is tan and 10 - 12 inches. It seems logical that the one that would be most obvious laying on white sheets is a tan Teddy Bear. I let him know we would be back in Springfield on Sunday and would pick them up. When we arrived Sheepie was there but still no Teddy Bear. He explained they were "still looking for it". My granddaughter has slept with Teddie every night for 5 years. Their home burned to the ground in January, they got out at 1:00 a.m. with only the pajamas they had on and she was clutching Teddie and Sheepie in her arms when they carried her out. She prays every night for Teddie to come home ... I would hope the person that cleaned the room (517) that day saw Teddie and if so may know what they did they with him.

I really had a good experience at the Crown.. I usually enjoy myself. This time I left with a sour taste in my mouth because my phone charger was missing from my room. I have to pay to replace it and it was an inconvenience to my travel home. My phone needed charging and I stay almost 2 hours away.
I am looking to hear back from someone in regards to my report of the missing charger on June 28, 2013.

I was so looking forward to my stay as this hotel has a very lovely appearance. At first glance, I was satisfied with my room and view. After second glace, it looks as though the carpets have not been vacuumed after many, many guest stays. The floors were filthy to the point I had to keep my shoes on the entire time!!! Walls were stained as well. Just disappointed as this hotel could be 5 star if maintenance and cleaning were their top priority.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by MWEEZ Registration for a conference
I did all the leg work before the conference. I reserved two rooms for 3 staff members. I also wanted to put their rooms and taxes on our company AMEX card, so once I reserved their rooms for the two days I was sent a form to fill out for the Credit card. I sent this in via fax approximately 2 weeks before the conference. The day of the event I get a call from one of my employees saying that there is no credit card on file. I immediately re-fax the form. I tried to call the Springfield hotel and no one was answering, when I finally did get through they gave me a completely different fax number which I faxed the credit card form to again and also emailed the credit form again to the person from the Springfield hotel who originally sent me the an email with the first fax number. So I am thinking okay a small mistake but this is now all taken care of and then at 5:30 p.m and I get another call from the hotel saying that they received the fax but not the last page with the credit card. How is this possible??? It was a scanned document all three pages in one. I sent it to 3 different people. So needless to say I was not very happy that my employees had to pay for something that I thought was all taken care of and that other than driving to Springfield myself I could not get this accomplished.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lucky568 Very friendly staff, excellent room service
Very nice property with a friendly staff. The room service was quick and very accommodating to our requests AND the food was good. We had two rooms and they were generally clean but in one there was still water in the ice bucket and the other had used towels in a closet, a closet door off the track, a cigarette burn (in non-smoking room) which puts into question attention to detail.

My wife and I just stayed for a room in one of the Executive Suites. Everything was clean and in good shape. The jacuzzi was awesome and the bed was comfortable. The hotel was a whole was very nice. It was more expensive than a lot of hotels that we've stayed in, but the quality was very good.
I think the only complaints would be the noise level. Our floor had a conference room/party room in the middle, so a lot of noise spilled over from that room. I would also like to see the smoking and non-smoking rooms separated by floor. Our room was non-smoking and didn't smell like smoke, but you could definitely smell it in the hallway.
Overall it was a great experience and I'd recommend the hotel for anyone!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by RyMom weekend stay
Apparently this is not the place to stay on a weekend as the staff seems second rate like a bunch of unsupervised kids compared to the week day staff which are more professional. Used to stay here for conventions and loved it. What a difference on a weekend; very quiet and not a lot of people. Have always loved the feel of the bar/lounge area and the area outside the bar with the leather seating arrangements; has a luxurious feel to it. However this stay was very disappointing. The bar/lounge staff acted very immature to the point it was embarrassing and ruined the experience. When asking about restaurant options in the area, the younger man at check in helped some but told me to check with the concierge; however, the concierge was never to be found. Have always enjoyed shopping at their unique gift shop but the hours on Sunday were unreliable. Upon arriving at closing on Saturday I was told someone was scheduled for Sunday and they would be open. Sunday at check out time I went down and there was a sign on the door; back in a few minutes. I waited and waited and no one ever came; think the sign was left up from day before. We had had a nice visit with family in St. Louis but our stay at the Crowne Plaza on the way home ended our mini get away on a sour note. I would recommend for week day stays but not weekends despite the "recommend stay" that this site apparently automatically checks for you.

Two recent stays at this property were very enjoyable. Both times our room was clean and well stocked with more square footage than I expected. Love the huge counter in the bathroom. Plenty of room to get ready. Check-in went smoothly. Staff was excellent and very friendly. We especially enjoyed Dawn and James in the bar. We did not eat in the restaurant, but the appetizers we ordered in the bar were very good. I would recommend this property.

I stayed in a suite. The smell of an unfixed male cat permeated the dining area drapes and eating table. Even though an "ionizer" was used, the smell was still strong. My husband had several allergy attacks as a result of the smell. For that much money, I expected a clean-smelling room. I will jump on the bandwagon with others and complain about the crunchy sheets, as well. When you have given Crowne Plaza a much needed facelift and cleaning, I will recommend your facility to others.

I stayed at the Crown Springfield from June 10-12 for a conference. I arrived around 11:30 and was afraid that I would not be able to check into my room into 3:00 p.m.. Especially since I had a pre conference at 12:30 p.m. To my surprise my room was available. The room was a nice size plenty of towels, and large bathroom. I espcially liked the USA newspaper being delivered everyday. Plenty of restaurants to choose from in surrounding area. Also a cineplex located right next door. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. Hotel is great for business and families as well
