Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by AndyO46 Great Place but BAD bed linen
The Crowne was a wonderful place to stay with one thing that was really annoying- The bed linen:-( The sheets are so stiff and sound like crinkling wrapping paper every time you move- Very annoying when trying to get a good night's sleep~ Supposedly on another review it says they went to a higher thread count but there's NOOOO WAY!!! The sheets are awful!
Besides this, beautiful and CLEAN room. Wonderful breakfast in the mornings.

Overall experience was very good. However, housekeeping knocking on the door at 8am was ridiculous. Then, they were hollering to each other down the hallway. We were still sleeping!

I don't believe I have ever slept on the type of sheets that this hotel is using...they were crunchy...not soft cotton. They need to go back to cotton.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Sarah518 Room request mix-up
I have not stayed at the Crown Plaza in a few months but never encountered an issue. This last trip was taken with 3 sets of relatives from out of town , all arriving at different times, and on several occassions I requested an adjoining or connecting room with my daughter so that her daughter and my son's daughter (who was in my room) had access into each room, minimizing an 8 and 10 yr old running in and out of rooms. I made the specific request again upon check-in. Somehow knowing something would go wrong I continued to text all parties to see if they had checked in. Sure enough the connecting room had been given to the other person in our party but we were able to swicth before everyone unpacked. Not a show stopper, but it was not a hard or difficult request, considering I provided confirmation numbers and name of the guest as I made the request. Just attention to detail would have been appreciated.

comfortable, clean, nice room. good food for our room service dinner. pleasant, helpful, staff in evert case.
needs valet parking and/or someone at the entrance to tell guests where the lobby and check in is. room service breakfast was a disaster, we got the wrong order, the room service waitperson was just 'pitching in' from another postition. food was good once it came.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MWMay13 Conducting a Work Session in a Hotel
We needed a location to conduct a working session for a party of 14 with internet for each and plenty of working table space. In addition, a healthy breakfast and lunch that would meet the dietary needs of so many, provide variety, and be tasty was arranged. The Crowne Plaza staff went out of their way to set up the working sessions, met with us each day to be certain all of our needs were met, including assisting anyone with their technology needs. The food service staff kept everything running smoothly, ensuring everything was replenished and held at the proper temperature, as well as beautifully presented. In the evening, the room was cleaned and we started fresh in the morning.
Crowne Plaza is an outstanding hotel and all staff are to be commended.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by ladytaxidermist not enough renovations
Was disappointed compared to those who stayed at the Holiday Inn next door at least they received a free breakfast every morning. The refrigerator did not keep anything cold, had to put the ice bucket in it every evening to keep drinks cold. No free breakfast, and the food was very expensive there. At least there were a lot of good places to eat near by. The room was clean at least. The sheets were very stiff and uncomfortable we did not sleep well there. Had to be bussed somewhere else for the award banquet. Nice place for a small convention but not for staying overnight. The only plus was the fact that the staff was very nice.

There is something special in at the Crown Plaza in Springfield. It is the location, the cleanliness and space is very comfortable. The real experience is the moment you enter into the Hotel you are greeted with staff that is welcoming and sincerely happy to see you. The front desk staff is exceptional, real geared toward service and wanting to make sure you are happy. And I am always happy to arrive and glad I stayed at the Crown in Springfield. The service matters.

The room was average, but the toilet had something wrong with it as it ran all the time unless wiggled the handle a couple of times. In the morning, then it did not work at all. I did not use room service. Food at the seminar I attended was good and service there was very good.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Diane59 Great weekend with the grandkids
We came to Springfield to have a "Lincoln Weekend" visiting many of the Abraham Lincoln sites. The hotel was located in a area within easy driving distance to most of these sites. The staff of the hotel were very accommodating with our request for adjoining rooms. The staff was very friendly. The hotel and rooms were very nicely decorated and, more importantly, clean.
The breakfast buffet was excellent. It was included in the price of our rooms and a great value. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to a friend.
Oh! The kids loved the pool on the 14th floor.

A great hotel with a great staff, but the property is getting tired and worn. Broken furniture in the room, old fixtures, feels out of date.
Surprised there was not all day restaurant service or at least cafe service.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by TJL53 Changes mostly for the good
I stay at this hotel 3 - 4 times a year. My stay in March was pretty much the same as it has been the past couple of years. But in April there appeared to be a few changes for the better. The sheets were softer and the pillows were substantially better than I remember them. I had two very comfortable nights' sleep. HOWEVER, the major negative that I didn't like is the change to DirectTV. I couldn't find any local news and weather and there is no longer access to Chicago stations such as Comcast Sportsnet and WGN. With the alrge number of Chicagoans that I know frequent this hotel, I would hope that they figure out a fix for this.

One of the beds had mens black hairs in it and we had to get the staff to send up a blanket so we had something to sleep on. The sheets were stiff and the blankets were like cardboard. the pillows were so soft there was no support. We had three staff stay and all three said they didn't sleep well. Very disappointed.

Staff was nice, property was clean but when traveling with kids, you really need a pool to be working.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Not what I was expecting from Springfield's "finest" hotel
We stayed for 3 nights and couldn't even take a shower until the third night because there was no water pressure the first night, then no HOT water the second night. We told the staff twice and still there was no resolution. We were supposed to be on a discounted rate and upon checking in, the rate was increased to almost double!!! When we went out to look at the city from the rooftop lounge one evening and found the doors were ziptied close to keep kids from accessing it (there were over 1,000 kids for a mock government meeting there). There was also no breakfast included, even though I have Gold Elite status. Not exactly what I was expecting from what is supposed to be Springfield's finest hotel. I suggest you save money and stay at another nearby hotel...I wish this wan't the case being Springfield is my home town and all. Good luck!
P.s. the beds were actually very comfortable!

Crowne Plaza Springfield is a good value for your money. Free parking is a plus and the rooms are always clean. The bathrooms need a little updating, walls/ceilings need some work and mattresses aren't as comfortable as they used to be, however new flat screen TV's and frig in each room are nice as are the free shower/bath items.

This used to be the classiest hotel in town ~ what happened?
Furniture was obviously worn, bed was not comfortable, place didn't feel clean, room service was very limited and expensive, there was no desk in the room for use with computer and could not get computer access in the conference rooms. I had specifically reserved a room with a walk in shower, but did not get one. Gratefully I at least was given a room with grab bars in the tub.
It was so different, quite a let down. What happened to this fabulous hotel?

Housekeeping was knocking on doors at 9a.m. and walking in on people. Heard several people shouting at them to get out. They were probably sleeping or naked. I don't understand why they wouldn't wait until check out time or make sure the person has left.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed34 Poor customer service!
The take away from my story will be to make sure that you get cancellation numbers for any unneeded reservations BEFORE getting off the phone with customer service!
Recently cancelled two unneeded reservations for a business conference by calling the hotel directly. The staff on the phone took my confirmation #'s and told me that an email would be sent to confirm/document the cancellations. Well enough, right? WRONG!
Days after conference, direct bill shows up to office with charges for previously cancelled rooms as "no shows". Calls to hotel reservations result in being told no record exists of the call, cancellations, or even an attempt to access my reservations to cancel them in the first place.
Of course I didn't jot down the name of the young lady I talked to when I cancelled (driving between offices at the time), and sure enough an email was never sent to our office.
Now it becomes a "he said vs. she said" argument, and hotel staff politely let me know that hotel "policy" dictates that "the customer is always wrong"! Not the way I remember it, and not the way I run my business, but it's their "policy".
I don't appreciate essentially being called a liar, and will stay elsewhere in the future!!!!
Moral --- document, Document, DOCUMENT your cancellations, and don't expect to win against "hotel policy"!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Ryan77 Not worth the cost
I wanted to treat my girlfriend to dinner and a jacuzzi suite for a nice Valentine's Day getaway. The jacuzzi was nice but that was about the only nice thing there. The double doors into the room didn't set right so everytime someone closed a door on that floor the door shook and you could hear every conversation in the hallway even with the TV on. The people next door were hollering and partying until roughly 1:30am and sounded like they were in our room due to lack of soundproofing. A few hours later the fire alarm went off, which I understand isn't the hotels fault, but when we came out of the room we were told by hotel staff it was a false alarm due to steam and that we could go back to our room. For another 15 minutes the alarm was screaming right above the bed so we waited in the bathroom where it wasn't so painfully loud. Of course at that point the next room started being loud again ( We could literally hear one of the guys getting sick in the bathroom) so we gave up, packed up and left.
When I checked us out at the front desk the lady apologized but offered no discount or comp of any sort.
We will never stay here again, next time we'll stay and the much nicer Holiday Inn Select a few hundred yards away.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Muldoon Facility & Cleaning Still an Issue
Greeted by Aimee with FANTASTIC customer service. Recognition for PC Platinum was provided, but property perks are not in line with other properties. Staff was able to isolate the fraternity group and the middle school groups on floors so as not to bother the other guests. Room had new sheets which were very thin and over starched. It was very uncomfortable and loud when shifting/turning at night. The bathroom floor had clumps of old hair in the corners near the tub (which is a common problem when I stay at this hotel and reported in the past to management). The floor was also cleaned with a substance that made it very slippery. The HVAC would only blow out warm/hot air and by 3am, the room registered 85. Only opening a window resolved this issue. While things are better over the past few months, it certainly seems like the basics of maintaining and cleaning the facility continue to struggle.
