The toilet in our room broke twice. Maintenance staff were prompt but unusual to have to have this done 2 times in three days. The bed was extremely uncomfortable... bed was hard, the bedding was rough and felt like plastic. you could actually hear sheets when turning in the bed. The room was so hot. We had thermostat on 55 and it felt like a sauna.

Hello Lorretta, It is completely not to our standards to have a toilet break twice during a stay! We want your stay to feel like home and I will not only be discussing with our Housekeeping department about this but also getting together to see how to make make our sheets feel more soft and comfortable for all guests. I truly apologize for the inconvenience of your stay and hope that you will come back to see us again so we can show you the Standard we really hold ourselves to here at the Crowne Plaza Springfield. What happened here?

Check in was fine, except there were no bellmen on duty, which made the check in process complicated. The floor I was assigned to was apparently a smoking floor, even though my room was non-smoking. I exited the elevator to a cloud of cigarette smoke - it was disgusting. No wonder the hotel gives you those little spray bottles of scent! I had to ask the staff to vacuum my room; I found out after stepping on an earring back, then an apple pit (yes the whole thing), that it was not done. The staff never apologized, but did not vacuum until the second day of my stay. I am a vegetarian (not a vegan), and when the staff was alerted, I was served, after everyone in my party was on dessert, a dish of pasta noodles with a chunky red sauce. It was okay, but it would have been better if I was not left alone eating it while the rest of my party had to leave to be on time for the next event! That evening, for the dinner banquet while everyone else was going to be served Prime Rib, I alerted the wait staff while they were serving salads, that I was the vegetarian that they were alerted of, and asked if my meal could please be served at the same time as the others were served at my table. Well, I was served a few minutes before and I asked the the lid be left on the plate until everyone else was served. When they were served, I moved the lid off of my plate and lo and behold - there it was - a plate of pasta noodles with a chunky red sauce. REALLY? Then they did switch it to a plate of (same veggies) pasta noodles without sauce! REALLY? Finally, I asked that they dump two dishes of lettuce on to one plate and let me eat that. That is what they did. Crown Plaza aims to please, I guess. This really turned me off and gave me a horrible impression.
