My group and I stayed at the Crowne Plaza - The Hamilton in Washington D.C. from 30 June 2013 through 06 July 2013. Although the hotel was not hard to find by using GPS on Google Maps, we had difficulty knowing where to the designated valet parking area was. Once we spotted it, it was also hard to maneuver since the valet parking area was very small. A lot of taxis were parked there, and it was located at the very corner of 14th Street Northwest and K Street Northwest. If you have children, I suggest you use the door of your vehicle closest to the sidewalk.
The valet parking attendants made an error to the ticket number used to retrieve my vehicle and to the ticket they had; basically, the ticket number I had did not match the ticket number they had to my car. But they expediently fixed it; the manager at the time provided me with a new ticket that matched what the valet parking had. Furthermore, although my stay at the hotel was for a week, they only charged me for the days / nights I used valet parking; that is, we did not sleep at the hotel during the whole week of our vacation, but the hotel only charged me for the days / nights I used valet parking.
Once you enter the hotel's lobby, you will notice how grand, old, yet beautiful it is. The hotel have a total of 4 elevators for guests to use, these elevators are very small and confined. If you are claustrophobic, then you wont like their sardine-canned style elevators. If you have a lot of luggage (more than 1) and or are in a large group (more than 2), you might want to use more than one elevator; this is what happened to me and what I did.
When I checked in, they asked for a credit card, a typical thing to do. On the day of check out, they slipped a bill under the room door and I saw all the charges and total. After coming home, I noticed on my credit card account online there were 2 charges. The first was as per what the bill stated, the second was a "deposit" - a just-in-case type of bill. I spoke to the hotel's accounting department, and they said that this "deposit" will go away since it was not a true transaction. This is annoying and inconvenient.
The room we stayed at was just like any typical hotel room, nothing fancy - 2 beds with pillows and blankets, TV, bathroom, fridge, courtesy bathroom hygiene products, and towels, etc. I used the gym, the equipment are brand new or at least were maintained and sanitized well. If you like listening to Beyoncé, then you will love hearing her music in their gym; however, due note that the music played is on repeat and you cannot change it, at least I could not find where the radio or CD player was. This gym did not have a swimming pool, which was a bummer. Internet is not free!
When we were away from the hotel - the few nights we did not sleep at the hotel, we ensured the sign of "Privacy Please" was on the door to deter housekeeping from cleaning the room. Upon our return, we noticed our room was cleaned. That's fine and great, but if a guest leaves out the "Privacy Please" sign, one would think that it would be honored regardless if the guest is actually sleeping there or not; but I guess not for this hotel. It's a good thing that we brought everything with us while we were away because, it could be the case that some of our belongings might have been stolen.
The hotel did not have laundry service - a room of filled with washing machines and dryers for guests to use for a small fee ($1.50 per load on each machine) was not available for guests to use.
The hotel had a restaurant - 14K Restaurant. It was great, but the service was slow. We stood at the front trying to find someone to see if we just seat ourselves or if they would seat us. They also took a long time to get our order, and took a long time on getting our check. The bathroom is not co-located with the restaurant, you have to leave the restaurant to use the bathroom. I ordered the Crispy Skinned Red Grouper with a local amber; the amber tasted like an IPA, the main dish was superb. Although the main dish was great, I think the price for it was way too high.

The staff to include the valet parking and the front desk were outstanding. My only negative experience was in the hotel dinning room I waited for approx. 10 minutes without even receiving water and yes of course I left and went across the street for dinner. Additionally, the $16.00 pancakes the next day which was not tasteful was a bit costly. Yes I would stay at the Hamilton each time in the DC area. .

Excellant staff- commend them- Kalala took our bags up- the room was not going to work as we travel with handicapped person- he called the front desk to inquire for a room he knew would work-most caring - he also insisted I needed a roll away whch we had ordered- but due to room change there was a sofa- he saind no you need a bed- and the men rearranged the room and put the bed in. Just great staff- the bar, outside getting us cabs and being a presence there
the only mix up was billing- my card was charged twice as pending - it was corrected so all is well

We real enjoyed our stay experience in this hotel. Excellent location, beatiful building, roomy and comfortable room. The staff is very polite and kindly. Also restaurant food and service is pretty good. Besides, there is a very nice park in front the hotel.
One of inconvenience is: there is not closet available neither drawers. However we still recomend this nice hotel.Have fun!!!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mercedes013 Outstanding service, location, value & comfort
We spent a week in DC and this hotel was perfect. It is located within 4 block of the White House, allowing us to walk to the mall. In the event, we took the metro, that was only 2 blocks. There is a great variety of dining options nearby. For our anniversary dinner, we were stuck indoors due to heavy rain; nonetheless, 14-K, the restaurant downstairs was delicious. The staff there are wonderful as well & the desserts are to die for! (Totally worth the extra calories!). The room was very clean, as well as the bathrooms. The beds are very comfortable, sheets are crisp & clean, and they don't skimp out on the number of pillows. Room service was great & we received the newspaper daily on our door. They have a Keurig & offer a light roast breakfast blend & tea. (Being a dark roast coffee drinker, I will remember to take some of my own K-cups next time). I wish they didn't charge for wi-fi (per device) but we managed just fine with the LTE. The gym is well equipped and clean. After we visited most of the mall, we asked the concierge for additional places to visit. He was wonderful and have us plenty of choices and even booked a great tour for us. The Hamilton is a great place to stay! Very quiet & adult oriented--big plus for us, since we don't have children. I highly recommend it.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by DCBusinessVisitor2013 Nice hotel with a cold shower
This hotel is lovely and very convenient in the District of Columbia. However, I noticed a drippy faucet in the bathtub and called the front desk. I was told they would send "the engineer". The next morning, the drip was still there, but there was no water pressure nor hot water. I ran the water for 20 minutes or so, still no pressure or hot water. Eventually, I realized that the faucet was backwards and when I put it on the cold side, I got hot water. However, I was late for my meeting and received no apology from the hotel staff nor did I get a response from emailing customer service afterwards.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Kitty5 Good price, close to attractions, nice accomodations.
Came to DC for a weekend trip and got a good deal for this hotel. The ambiance was nice and it was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful.
I was a bit disappointed though in the fact that the movie rentals weren't working and we got no explanation or compensation for it. Also for breakfast I paid almost 16 for the seasonal fruit plate with Greek yogurt and a muffin but instead I got regular yogurt and no muffin (the fruit was fine). I called down for my muffin and they brought me a vanilla cupcake.
Overall a comfortable stay and good value, but it wasn't exceptional. Next time I come I'll probably shop around a bit.

The staff at the Hamilton go the extra mile to see that you stay with them is enjoyable. My housekeeper was Carmen, what I delight she is. My room was always kept in "like new" conditions during the day. The "in room" food service service was fantastic. The Food Service person was professional and polite. The food was served warm and tasty. Thay did not have all of the items shown on the menu, but what they did have was very very good. The cars vendors are both professional and polite. There was not one member of the staff that demonstrated anything but first class customer service. I use the Hamilton everytime I'm in DC.

although the windows to the room and the aircon were a bit aged (and the aircon was not on the quiet side), this is a great place for a visit to Washington. Any issues were dealt with promptly, staff was absolutely courteous and helpful.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by subways101 Mediocre Room, but good service - overall average
I firstly wish to commend the staff. They were pleasant when dealing with me. They did honour me as a priority club platinum member and gave me a complimentary room upgrade. Unfortunately though the room that I was given kept vibrating like every minute! The tremor wasn't as bad as an earthquake but it was still bad enough to be uncomfortable. I did bring this to the attention of the housekeeping/guest services and they said that they would have done something about it and never did. There was also a late servicing of my room on one of the days I stayed - 8:30 pm! I had to remind guest services 5 times during that day.
Other than that my stay went smoothly. I didn't pay much attention to the atmosphere. The complimentary breakfast was good.
I feel however that the problems with the room would cause to rate the value as only "fair" because I definitely don't feel that what I paid was worth it particulary for a "vibrating" room. I would have preferred to stay in just a single #un-upgraded# room had I known.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by ALM2003 Great location, beautiful hotel
We stayed at the Crowne Plaza to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. The hotel was beautiful. It was obvious that it had been recently renovated. The keurig in the room was definitely appreciated! We were on the 11th floor and had a view of the park. The Washington Monument could also be seen from our room. The location is great! It was easy to walk to many places in the city. The room was on the small side. Perfect for a couple. It's hard to imagine a family of 4 being comfortable in the rooms given the size. The biggest con for us was the lack of sound proofing between the rooms. You can hear conversations and the television through the walls. Unfortunately, we had noisy neighbors who chose to make a lot of noise around 3AM each night of our stay. It was disruptive to our sleep and made for 2 restless nights. We experienced a snafu with the valet service on our checkout day. We called for the car and allowed for the 20 minutes that was stated. After a 40 minute wait we still did not have our car. I spoke with the valet manager as well as the hotel manager. The car was then retrieved. The hotel manager compensated us financially for our extended wait and it was greatly appreciated.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ABCMB Would stay here again!
My family and I had the opportunity to stay at this hotel during June 2013, and I would definitely stay here again if I was in the Washington, DC area. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and spotlessly clean. Although the lobby had an "energetic" atmosphere, the guest floors were quiet. And the staff!! They greeted us by name when we were arrived, and could not have done anything more for us. We were greeted every time we came and went (and we were in and out several times daily), and were always asked if they could do anything for us. This hotel is a true gem, and like I mentioned earlier, I will stay here again!!

This hotel is in a good location not far from the White House. It is within easy reach of the main attractions. The dining room is very comfortable and I particularly enjoyed the bar man who had some tricks up his sleeve so to speak. The bar staff were very friendly and the hotel seems busy. All in all I would recommend it.

This is an excellent location to see the sights in DC. The staff at the front desk, maid service and doormen were all top notch. The 14K restaurant, although a bit pricey, is very convenient and the food & service were of a high quality. Little bit of a splurge but well worth it!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by TTony Small and Smelly room
When checking in, I showed the CSR my Platinum Priority Club card and asked for upgrade. He agreed and assigned the Room 1135 to me. However, I was really disappointed about this room. For one thing, it is very very small and a queen size bed had taken all the space in the room. I can hardly move around with such tiny little space. For another, although the bathroom is very clean, the bedding smelt so bad especially one pillow. I did not sleep well because of the smell. In addition, the TV remote is very dusty and dirty. This is definitely the worst Crowne Plaza I have ever been.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sonja61 Great staff
I spent a week at the hotel and the staff was wonderful. My guest room had everything one needs and the bed was very comfortable. My first morning the shower wasn't draining properly (by the time I was done, I was standing in an inch of water). I let the front desk know as I was leaving the hotel for a few hours and when I came back, my room was clean and the shower was draining fine. The bell staff were very friendly, offering assistance every time. And, my favorite bartender of all time is now at 14 & K - Sam! What a wonderful surprise to see him behind the bar. As for the location, you can't beat it - so convenient to a couple of metro stops. My only complaint - the "per device" charge for guest room internet access. Two people means $25 per day for internet - a bit excessive. I would, however, highly recommend the hotel to anyone heading to DC for business or pleasure.

From the time I checked in to the time I checked out the staff and the accomodations couldn't have been better. The restaurant food was excellent both lunch and dinner. The only down side was the lack of a store to pick up incidentals but there is a 24 hr CVS just up the block so no big deal.

This was my third stay at the Hamilton and it has quickly become my new favorite DC hotel. The staff cannot do enough for you. From the time you check in until the time you check out, the treatment is superb. We tried the hotel restaurant this time for dinner and the food was fabulous. Equally fabulous was our service at dinner. Oscar, our server, was the best!
The only problem was this time our room was a little small for two people. But this is such a minor concern I almost hate mentioning it.
Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Louis the concierge was wonderful! He booked our car reservation, tour reservation, dinner reservation, embassy information, and was most informative about the entire area and answered all questions we had. If he didn't have the answer - he got it! We also enjoyed the lead bartender (sorry don't have his name). I believe he may have been the supervisor. He was wonderful also. Our room was great, the staff was great and we recommend to all! Thanks so much! It was my Mother In Law's 80th Birthday Trip - and we had a GREAT time!
