Staff and Service is everything

This staff doesn't know how to treat a guest. From the car reception to every little detail. I.E. When you arrive driving the valet parking gets angry if you don't park the car exactly where he asks you to. This is not only unacceptable due to common education rules but service etiquete must welcome you; greet you, and take care of the car. In ANY good hotel. Guest is always right or he should felt like that. This staff/crew is rude. I called room service asking for a wine opener and they declined arguing didn't had that option for room service. If I wanted I should go downstairs to the bar and get that done. Amazing isn't it? I ask the guy to go to the bar and do that himself; just to honor service. He agreed but as a very special last consideration. Next time It wouldn't happen. I just stopped the conversation there..
Don't get me wrong these are good people but need some basic ABC training on service. Until then I will never return.

Lo unico malo es que el precio del Bufette de Desayuno no corresponde con los alimentos que ofrecen, la verdad ya no quisimos investigar la comida y la cena.

Restricted Vacation

I had the chance to spent a few days in Acapulco to relax and I really fought hard to find an appropriate hotel. Finally I decided for Crowne Plaza because I thought I can expect certain quality issues of this chain.
Even if it was still low season I was aware what could go on as action in Acapulco, do I asked already during reservation process (done via the ihg.com homepage, so no booking machine!) for a Room silent as possible. During check In process in the hotel I reminded and specified my request - no room next to the elevator, not next to a housekeeping locker, without connection door to another room - if possible!
Employee at the reception gave me a room in 26th floor what I highly appreciated and told me, room is not affected with the 3 mentioned issues.
As I came up I got aware, that room was directly next to the elevator area (6 of them!).
I don't want to go into details of the followed 1,5 hrs. A guy from Front Desk Team tried to help me to find another room but it wasn't possible. IHotel didn't seem to be fully booked but no one even did ask me for my willingness of an upgrade (I wanted to rest, so I would have paid for it!). But ok, so I decided to stay in the first room. I got the recommendation to ask on the next day for another room if I would like to change (maybe I'm wrong in thinking but as host I would try to contact my guest if I'm already aware that he or she is worried about the noise around the room).
Anyway, I was there for vacation so I went down to the beach. There was construction going on at a part of the pool, so also not the best area to relax. I absolutely understand the necessity of maintenance works and also that it's not done during high season but a hint on the homepage for works in the recreation area would gimme a chance not to book this hotel in this case!
Beach was empty enough, so I went away far as possible to have a chance for a calm afternoon.
Beach side is divided into a part reserved for hotel guests, below is the general beach side with all of the action going on (massage, food, drinks, water sports etc.)
Staff outside doesn't belong to the hotel but is obviously allowed for them to offer everything what seemed to be ok for me. There was no service from the hotel on the beach side but approx. 12 men of the bar outside asking every 2 minutes if I'm interested in a drink. Safety guard of the hotel behind me didn't react in any manner, so I just ordered one drink. As I got it and it was paid the safety guard started to move and told me that it's not allowed to drink this in the beach zone of the hotel, so I have to go outside to drink it. I would took this information also in advance, so as he saw me ordering but ok, shame on me, my fault so I apologized and just asked about service of the hotel bar. He answered I can go to the pool bar by myself and pick it up...
This I tried to do a little later and the guy at the bar asked my for any voucher which I didn't have of course because again no information about. So he told me I can order a drink just with this voucher and if don't have it I can go to the reception to arrange it.
So, I was out of cash, I didn't want to go in bath shorts to the reception...means in this case no drinks for me. No idea if it's the Acapulco tradition but I don't know a system like this from no other hotel in any country of the world. And even if I highly appreciate a quick check in I would appreciate it even more to get certain or special information like that in time to react in a way what's fine for the hotel crew and my idea of vacation.
What really surprised me was the situation on the weekend. Of course a lot of Mexican families arrived for weekend holidays and fun and it was no problem for them to buy outside food or ice cream and eat it in the beach zone of the hotel, especially same safety guard was partly standing directly next to the people talking to them about general points of life during buying popcorn or any snacks. I have to say, that gave me really a strange feeling...is it existing a different system for different people?
In general the hotel has a good location, beach was great, the lady of housekeeping making my room was gorgeous, also the bell boys down at the entrance did a good job in a unbelievable speed.
The gym for this size of the hotel is tricky, it's ok in low season The cardio machines are good, partly very good but the weight situation it's a bad joke - don't call it a gym!
On the evening of the 30th of November was a really great man at the Front Desk, he helped me in an outstanding way with my transfer what was not confirmed yet to this point. I would like to mention his name but staff is partly not wearing name tags, makes it also a little difficult to get in touch.
Also business area it's a nice gimmick using in certain situation a PC, makes it comfortable.
All over all it's really hard to evaluate this hotel or the stay. I got so many advises from staff that anything is written anywhere, but honestly - I don't run around all day long reading this 100 of notes and papers in my vacation, especially not after a long trip arriving there on the first day. Really a lot of employees didn't show any warmth for days and changed from one second to the other as the local Mexican people arrived, that really gives this stay kind of a 'strange taste' because it was so obvious if you could see them the days before. Lot of staff doesn't seem to be motivated or interested in their job or the needing of guests, maybe they don't care single travelers or they need to warm up because of beginning of season. A feeling being in vacation didn't come up.
Was a really strange stay, I liked the spot Acapulco for a few days because of great beach, good food, water sports but honestly I can't recommend the Crowne Plaza after this experience. Maybe I just choosed wrong time to go there...who knows? In general: Hotel is an option, staff can give you a hard stay!
