NIce area of town and great service

Had a great time visiting NYC as we stayed in the Crowne Plaze Hotel for the first time and recieved excellent service. The staff was very friendly and very helpful when we needed directions. Great place to stay if you are visiting the city very convenient commute to the Yankee Stadium . Thank You for a Great Stay.

OK property but inexperience or untrained staff

The rooms were fine but the services provided were substantially sub-par. They ran out of eggs for breakfast one morning and according to the waiter, "because their food delivery was missed the day before". They then asked if we wanted them to go out and get some from the store. Really, for a 200+ room hotel we have to show you how to maintain your own kitchen?
There was no upgrade for our Platinum status room as they said they were booked but I checked the hotel website and they still had king rooms on the executive floor that day.
Then there was the issue about asking whether Platinum members got complementary access to the Club Lounge. The desk agent said she didn't know but either she would get back to me before her shift ended or first thing in the morning. No callback but when I checked with the desk at 9:30 the next night, the supervisor explained that the hotel no longer had a Club Lounge. So all their desk staff didn't know they didn't actually have a Club Lounge.
Last issue was that they agreed to and we had scheduled in advance, shuttle to the nearby train station, which NJ Transit did NOT have a good address for - we all agreed. I directed the morning shuttle driver there and he agreed it would be easy for the night driver to find once they shared the directions. Coming back from NYC at 10PM, I checked with the desk 20 minutes BEFORE the scheduled pickup to ask if they had any questions and to make sure the driver called me if they needed help. After multiple calls to the desk and requests to have the driver call if he was lost, driver was 30 minutes LATE. Turns out he was just around the corner for about 15 mins before finally figuring it out. Either wasn't told to or refused to call due to what I think was a language barrier-he answered 3 calls from the hotel while we were in the van and only spoke Spanish.
The best end to that poor performance was Laura at the bar, who took car of our party and met some new friends.
Pool appears much nicer in the photos. Only about 25 by 50 feet so with only 8-10 people in the pool, it's crowded. And watch your footing when walking in - there are mats that help with footing for about 3 ft around the apron of the pool but there's a low spot right inside the entrance that gathers water for a good 6 ft away from the pool and the tiles are slippery.
I would suggest that you try somewhere else for this rate.

whenever i am in the area, i chose crown plaza because of the friendly and helpful staff as well being able to meet my needs--excellent bhotel
