Great central location

Breakfast was expensive and unimpressive. Plenty of other places to have breakfast outside. No kettle in the room, just coffee machine.

Spacious Clean Rooms

My husband and I went on a 4 day/3night getaway. We stayed in a standard king room and we were so pleased. The room was very clean, bed was super comfortable and the room extremely spacious. The staff was very attentive and the food at the hotel was very good. We were right in the heart of Times Square and loved it!

Not at All What Expected

Be very aware if you pay in advance! The adds for the rooms are not what you get. The front desk clerk was first deceptive and then rude. Issue was never resolved. Read below if you want the entire story.
I booked traditional standard room, described as having King bed, view of either Times Square or Hudson River. The room was paid for in full prior to arrival. During check-in, the front desk clerk stated that the room was with a view of the Hudson River. In mid check-in he raced away to the back room and when returned immediately started making changes to the check-in and stated, "I see you are an IHG member so I am going to upgrade you to the IHG Elite floor". The room on the IHG floor had a view of the top of the lower buildings around us--a deplorable view! I called the front desk, never got an answer. I called the concierge, who transferred the call to manager--never got an answer. I went back down to ask the front desk clerk for the original room equivalent. He crossed his arms over his chest and very loudly announced "You got what you reserved. No other rooms are available". I asked him why he would tell me I had a room facing the Hudson if that was not what he was assigning me to. He did not respond other than to repeat what he said before. I walked away. I think once he knew the room was already paid in full he switched me to a less desirable location knowing I had no recourse (like switching hotels).
I have since complained about his rudeness and the events to IHG and Crowne Plaza. All I got was a so sorry.
I think that the description of the room being reserved is either untrue or the clerk at the Crowne Plaza Times Square had someone else he wanted to give the room to and quickly removed us from it. Either is unacceptable.
I spent 2 years traveling in New York for my job and I never, at any other place, found such rude, disrespectful behavior.
