I have previously stayed in a different Holiday Inn with the single most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. However, this bed was really, really comfortable. The room was massive. The bathroom[More] was okay but not very clean unfortunately.
The restaurant on the first night was very quiet and we were served quickly. The waiter was lovely and my kids made an awful mess but he didn't mind. The second night was a little busier and we waited hours and hours for our food. Each course took about an hour with a toddler and a baby who were both screaming and tired by the end. Again the waiter was nice but no need for such a long wait as not that busy. Breakfasts were quick and much nicer than other hotel breakfasts I've had.
Pool was nice enough, not the best but was free to use so can't complain![Less]
Nice overall experience
Relaxing place to stay. Ideal for business use. Quality of food in restaurant for dinner could be better. Good choice of breakfast.[Less]
Great relaxing visit, very clean and modern hotel with good internet access.[Less]
Excellent hotel - always full!
I stay at this property very regularly, and it presents an excellent value proposition for anyone visiting Cambridge or wanting to commute to London. Excellent staff, and good value for money however[More] the only criticism is the quality of mattress are quite bad. I can virtually sleep anywhere, but if you could get new mattresses, this would make a 4 star property, a 5 star!
A great nights sleep
By MS 2608
The room was a little more expensive than we would have normally paid but was a nicer room than our normal hotel and with breakfast included it made it the perfect choice. The staff are friendly and[More] very helpful. The room is very clean and tidy and the little finishing touches in the room really finished things off nicely. The only issue we had was the breakfast was very hot and there was not much of it but apart we had a great nights sleep in a warm room on the coldest night of the year so far. Well done for making us feel welcome[Less]
Not perfect, but given the price ...
Very clean, friendly and efficient. Bedroom clean and tidy but the mattress was like a trampoline - terribly uncomfortable. We also asked to change one of the pillows from firm to soft as we were[More] going out. A different pillow was on the bed when we got back but it certainly wasn't a soft one! Why offer the opportunity to choose your pillow if you don't have any different?
Breakfast felt cheap - limited choice of hot breakfast and awful sausages. Cheap, boring bread and crunchy croissants. We'd have preferred less choice but better quality.
All in all we know we paid a budget price so weren't expecting a luxury experience. We'd just have preferred it to be more consistent across the board.[Less]
Visit to Suffolk
We have stayed at the Holiday Inn before for various reasons and have always found it to be convenient and value for money.
We enjoyed all of the experience - otherwise we would not come[More] back.
However we did find the cost of the meals to be excessively high. The quality of the food was very good indeed, but the price of the breakfast at £14.95 each was far too expensive. For this reason we avoid eating at the H Inn and instead patronise Tesco for breakfast at about a quarter of the cost! We were not sure what time Tesco got going on the Sunday, so had breakfast at the H Inn, which was when we discovered how expensive it was. (Difficult to find the price stated anywhere before the meal). Next time we visit we will make sure ALL breakfasts are at Tesco - only a few minutes from the hotel.[Less]
