Visiting High Wycombe – A Guide
High Wycombe is an old market town in an enviable setting of rolling countryside, with easy access to London by rail or car. Its High Street with Georgian features and a covered retail arcade make it a pleasant shopping destination, but it also has historic treasures to delight the cultural tourist.

High Wycombe: town layout
Lively markets three times a week, set between the 18th-century Guildhall and the 1604 Little Market House, have been the heartbeat of High Wycombe since medieval times. The Buckinghamshire town is well linked to London and the rest of the region, thanks to its proximity to the M4, M40 and M25 motorways and a well-serviced train station.

The concierge recommends…

  • The picturesque Pann Mill, which is the last of River Wye’s 37 watermills to remain. It’s switched on a few times a year at free family events.
  • Cheering on the Wycombe Wanderers Football Club at Adams Park Stadium.
  • West Wycombe for a scenic rural walk, historic intrigue and spooks all in one. Look out for Hell-Fire Caves and Church of St. Lawrence.

You’ll find the parks and pools of Rye Park, Eden Centre’s shops, Wycombe Swan’s entertainment and the main train station all within the town centre.

Eating Out in High Wycombe
The best way to mingle with locals is to head to the open air market and street-food court happening on High Street on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays – from hog roasts to curries and homemade cakes, there is something for every taste. For coffee shops and family-friendly restaurants, wander through the Eden Centre. If you’re seeking a traditional pub experience to soak in Ye Olde English atmosphere, head to small villages on the outskirts.

The chef recommends...

  • Bangers and mash: This plateful of pork sausages, mashed potatoes and rich gravy is a pub staple.
  • Bubble and Squeak: Shallow-fried seasonal vegetables and potato cakes are served as a side-dish all day.
  • Local ale: Beer aficionados have plenty to choose from with local breweries producing extensive monthly and seasonal specials.

Generally excellent especially on price. Was told online a early check in would be accomodated but the check in staff found this ridiculous.Asked about directions to the Tube and the receptionist [More] didn't know the station was closed that day. [Less]

Everything about this hotel was perfect. The rooms are tastefully done. The cleanliness is 100%. The beds are comfortable. The staff very friendly and helpful. We received the benefits of [More] being IHG members. At this hotel we received complimentary mini bar, complimentary late check out and there were other things which we did not use. [Less]

Great hotel and staff
By Stuart McC
The hotel is great, rooms spacious and comfortable, the food was excellent and the bar/dining area is very nice, having been recently done up. The staff could not have been more attentive, especially [More] in the dining area, very child friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. We visited LEGOLAND during our stay, and the hotel is only a 30 minute drive away. Our only problem during our stay was the faulty air conditioning in our room, which made for quite a poor nights sleep. That said, I would definitely stay at this hotel again. [Less]
Great All Round Hotel
By Severn Mum
We had a great stay on 16 Jul for only one night, when there was obviously a wedding party using the hotel. In spite of being very busy, everything was up to its usual standard and hotel staff were [More] extremely attentive and happy. [Less]
spacious family room with two children's beds
By pearlapple888
We have stayed at this hotel many times, especially when visiting LEGOLAND. The room was spacious and the hotel staff were friendly as you expect from IHG hotels. The cleaner is especially friendly [More] and nice, talking to children and responded quickly with any queries. The only downside is the swimming pool on Sunday. DO NOT try to swim on Sunday morning if you are staying in this hotel as priority is given to the people who is taking classes----many classes. Staff insisted to see my room card before I was allowed to enter although I told him that we were staying at the hotel. This has never happened before at any IHG hotels. it made my children and myself feeling really uncomfortable. [Less]
