Featured San Diego Hotels

San Diego, with 70 miles of coastline, moderate year-round climate, pristine parks, zoos, craft breweries, a bustling nightlife and much more, is a popular and fantastic pick for a sunny California beachfront vacation. IHG invites you to stay at all of our San Diego hotels, where you’ll always find yourself in a great place to enjoy the city.
Things to See
Many visitors come to San Diego to enjoy dozens of soft, sandy beaches, some of which are famously flanked by colorful reefs, charming tide pools and rugged cliffs. The flat landscape of Coronado Beach offers a romantic setting, while La Jolla Beach gives families options for picnics, spending hours in its grassy park or taking scuba classes, and Silver Strand is great for camping next to the coastline. Join or watch surfing in Tourmaline Surfing Park or Solana Beach, see the annual U.S. Open Sandcastle Competition each summer at Imperial Beach, and The Strand, or Pacific Beach, gives large crowds two miles of leisure, shopping, restaurants or simple relaxation.
If you prefer heading inland, there is an abundance of attractions including Legoland California, Balboa Park, SeaWorld, the Living Coast Discovery Center, Birch Aquarium, the San Diego Zoo and the zoo's Safari Park. Also visit San Diego's museums, which are as diverse as its visitors. Young visitors can check out the New Children's Museum, Children's Discovery Museum or the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, all of which offer hands-on experiences. Also don’t miss the San Diego Model Railroad Museum, which features the largest
model railroad display in the world, spanning 27,000 square feet.
Hotels in San Diego
You'll want to book hotels well in advance if you're visiting during peak summer season. Lower hotel rates are found from March through May, and September through November. Many San Diego family hotels offer recreational amenities such as outdoor heated pools, which guests usually find more comfortable than unheated pools since the average summer temperature is only 76 degrees. Boost your value even further by looking for weekly rate hotels in San Diego, or hotels with complimentary breakfasts and nightly manager's receptions.
Where to Stay
San Diego has many distinct districts. Coronado's sparkling sand and beckoning beaches make it a popular pick for romantic retreats. The Gaslamp Quarter comes alive at night with an array of popular clubs and restaurants. While these 16 blocks are well-known for rooftop bars and chic nightclubs, they're also family friendly during the day, putting you near the New Children's Museum and San Diego Zoo. Mission Valley and Old Town offer an historic feel while keeping you just minutes from the city's big-name attractions. If you're interested in outdoor activities, East County will call to you with hiking, biking, and climbing opportunities in Anza Borrego State Park.
How to Get to San Diego
San Diego International Airport is centrally located and serviced by most major airlines. The San Diego Trolley provides convenient transportation around the city with three trolley lines and 53 stations. The North County Transit District's Coaster trains offer service to nearby beach communities from downtown San Diego and Old Town. If you're travelling further, the 22-mile SPRINTER rail system connects San Diego to Vista, Oceanside, Escondido, and San Marcos. Book hotels throughout the city with InterContinental Hotels Group, find the perfect room for your vacation and begin planning your visit.

Location can't be beat, breakfast good.
By enzamatic
I chose this hotel primarily for the location and the breakfast. It gets dark by 5:30 in Nov in North County San Diego, and so it's important for me to stay somewhere that has some restaurants [More] nearby, and some places you can get outside in the morning before work. Travelling alone, I chose this location because of the easy access to the beach just south, which is also the "dog beach". It's a nice walk with some hills available, beautiful view, and a nice rock you can sit on to watch the surf, surfers, and watch the dogs play, maybe read a book. With people visiting to walk their dog in the morning there are enough people around to feel safe, and honestly dog people are usually approachable and friendly (as are the dogs hah!). It's also convenient to be able to grab some breakfast with protein before heading into the office rather than just breads [Less]
Great location in Solana Beach
By FunkyTown
We absolutely loved staying at this hotel. It appeared to be quite new and was maintained extremely well. The bed was very comfortable, the king room we had was clean and well laid out and the HVAC [More] was quiet and functioned well. The only thing I would do differently, if this were my hotel, would be to provide different balcony chairs. They were hard plastic folding chairs like is used in some classroom style meeting rooms. Something more comfortable to place on the balcony would have been appreciated. The staff was friendly and professional and every housekeeper, even those with limited English skills made an effort to speak with us and meet our needs. If we have a reason to return to the Solana Beach / Del Mar area, we will certainly stay at this hotel. [Less]
Nice hotel but on busier street
By dobbyandariel
We had a great experience at this hotel, but the morning were kind of loud and we had car lights shining through our windows. Neither of these issues were the hotel's fault, just a matter of [More] location! Although, the location was great to getting around and on the freeway. [Less]
My Holiday Inn Express stay

Loved to stay at this location because of sea world attraction and very cooperative staff. [Less]
Great stay - would have gotten 5 stars except for the powdered eggs
By Chadhoo
If you are planning on going to Sea World why wouldn't you stay here? It is about 2 miles from the park. When we checked in and asked about a place to eat, the desk recommended two places across the [More] street (a sushi place and thai place). Best thai place I have ever eaten at. Room was on the top floor. The best was very comfortable, clean sheets and towels. The bathroom was small but who spends a lot of time in the bathroom? Lots of parking all around the hotel so you don't have to hike to get to your car or room. Pool was small, more of larger but colder hot tub. Those horrible powered eggs... ugh. I was hoping they had changed to real eggs... life isn't perfect - but thank good ness for leftover Thai food. The staff was very nice and even though they had work to do, had a brief but pleasant conversation with my nine year old son. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and wanted at this hotel. [Less]
