Featured New York City Hotels

New York City is the most popular destination in the world, and for good reason. With first-class entertainment options, world-famous landmarks, buzzing street activity and nightlife, it is an epicenter of culture, diversity and excitement. Your choices are seemingly endless when it comes to hotels, which means deciding which hotel to book can be a challenge, as options range from hostels to ultra-luxurious global chains. IHG® can help you find accommodations that cater to your wants and needs while you explore what makes NYC so unique.

Things to See

New York City is home to a multitude of world-renowned landmarks, so prioritizing your time during your visit is essential. For the ultimate sightseeing adventure, consider one of the hotels in Manhattan, home to the Empire State Building, Times Square, Wall Street and the 9/11 Memorial. Manhattan can easily fill your itinerary with must-dos, and a short boat ride across the harbor takes you to the Statue of Liberty. After a day of sightseeing, a stroll through Central Park is an excellent way to unwind.

Hotels in New York City

New York City hosts almost 55 million visitors each year and offers an incredible array of destinations and attractions to explore. Regardless of when you go, where you stay or what you do, there are plenty of hotels to fit your specific needs, and by booking through IHG, you are assured a great stay while you explore New York.

Where to Stay

When considering hotels in New York City, first choose your ideal borough, since each has its own character, advantages and charms. You may want to be closer to the multicultural cuisine of Queens or the tree-lined streets of Brooklyn. Midtown Manhattan is a prime location for visitors wanting to be within walking distance of Broadway plays or 5th Avenue shops, although they can be expensive. If you want to be in the middle of the action, look for a Times Square hotel location. Luckily, there are many reasonably priced hotels inside and outside of Manhattan, and getting around is easy.

How to Get to New York City

The New York City metropolitan area is served by three key airports: John F. Kennedy International Airport, La Guardia Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey, which is only 15 miles from Manhattan. Those visiting the city by rail will enjoy the iconic Grand Central Terminal or Pennsylvania Station, the city's two main railway stations. Travelers with shorter stays may find New York City hotels near major transportation hubs more convenient and more budget-friendly.

The thought of getting around the city can be intimidating for first-time visitors, but traveling throughout the city and its five boroughs is surprisingly easy, thanks to the extensive Metro subway system. Along with its low cost and vast network of routes, the Metro is an efficient way to explore the city. In addition, you can easily hail a cab for a direct route to your destination.

An excellent hotel for the short stay traveller
By HR2016
This was my first stay here. It was recommended to me by a friend. Everything about the hotel was designed to welcome the guest. There is a 24 hour shuttle that runs between JFK and Holiday Inn, and [More] its free. I was welcomed by the reception staff, Zoe, who checked me in promptly and cheerfully and provided every little guidance that I needed regarding my stay and local travel. All staff that I met were most courteous and helpful. The room was spacious enough, clean, comfortable and a clean bathroom. There is coffee maker in the room and a generous choice of TV channels. There is even an ironing board and iron - which is just so handy. The hotel has a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner - the food is great with generous helpings. In the basement, there is a gym to exercise away those calories, and a self service laundry with washing machine and dryer - what more could one ask for. Within a short ten minute walk, there is a shopping centre with a few restaurants. In case you want to do some local travel, take the hotel shuttle to Federal Circle station at JFK, and then take the Air Train to Jamaica station (one stop away). From there you can take trains to Manhattan or to Long Island. I was so delighted and satisfied with my stay that decided to stay here again on a return transit. [Less]
Short Stay - but Very Sweet
By Erin5
After a long and rough flight, finally arrived at JFK around midnight. I called the hotel to get shuttle directions and found a lovely guide in the desk clerk. Shuttle driver was awesome. The Hotel [More] was very clean and modern. Still on West coast time, I called in the morning to inquire about late check out - and met another very friendly desk service agent. When we finally headed out to greet the day, this same service agent was amazingly helpful and patient in providing info and directions - and a subway map. Overall - great staff and very cozy stay - would recommend and book again! [Less]

Recent Stay in New York
By jasinwe
Surprised about this hotel. The staff were very good, the price was lower than other hotels in New York City, and the hotel was clean. Furniture is outdated and noise in rooms were a bit [More] much. However, disregarding the two negatives, I like this hotel and do highly recommend it. [Less]
Great value for NYC
By karl 14
Did not realize this was the original Holiday Inn for NYC. Stayed here to see a play in Lincoln Ctr. and to celebrate my birthday. It is in a great location and the room rates were a bargain compared [More] to many other NY hotels. The location could not be better, close to everything. Rooms were large and you can open the windows! Nice bar and good breakfast. My only complaint is that there is no microwave or fridge in the room, which is always a nice addition. Hope to return in the summer so we can use the rooftop pool, also rarely available in NYC! [Less]
Hard to beat value
By Dale 17
This is a GREAT hotel for budget travelers. It far exceeded my expectations. My room was not only clean and capacious, it was also attractive and comfortable. Yes the radiator gave out too much heat [More] but opening a window solved the problem. And yes the plumbing is dated but it worked just fine. The connecting door to another room did let in a bit of noise but was not a major concern - though this could be a problem with noisier neighbors. The street noise was minimal for NYC. I rather liked the open flow of the lobby and bar area with its 60s architecture. As often noted, the hotel location is great and the staff is professional.. There are lots of restaurant choices on 10th Ave. In short, this hotel is hard to beat for real value. This was my first stay but definitely not my last. [Less]
