Service less than normal
By J Mike A
Check in was less pleasant than normal. I was not offered a room upgrade and had received an e-mail that said there would be one offered. The bill was not placed under the door of the room and [More] check out was slower than normal. Area out side in back and around elevators was not clean. [Less]
Quick trip to Galveston
By dougintex
This property has upgraded itself from my first stay 5 years ago. Everything appears new and fresh. The staff remains high quality and friendly. I stayed because of location - I'll come back [More] because of quality. [Less]
Convenient to beach but dated, poorly configured, needs work
By Jlccc
I used this hotel because it's right on the beach and I had a lot of IHG points built up from business travel that I could use to pay for the room. It was reasonably comfortable, the staff was [More] generally friendly and eager to please. But the hotel needs to be cleaned (unsightly green mold or mildew on exterior walls) and updated. There were some glaring repair issues in our room, such as loose wall-base molding and a bathroom door that was literally shredded and swollen and would not latch. No hotel should leave something like that unaddressed--and these had obviously been left for some time. And the hotel is poorly laid out as far as getting from the lobby to the elevators--a long circuitous route leading to too-few elevators. The pool is very nice and we enjoyed it. But it makes no sense that there are no bathrooms available from the pool, and guests are instructed not to go into the building with wet swimsuits. Apparently you are expected to traipse all the way back up to your room if you need to use a bathroom. Hotel wifi needs to have a less obvious password and some of my devices could never access the log-in page. [Less]
Great Area!!

The stay was amazing, so peaceful. The area is very quiet and I will most likely be back next year or any time after that to enjoy this lovely hotel. [Less]
Great Stay

We had a large group of people staying before a cruise, the location was close for our departure location and provided good service. [Less]
Visit with the grandkids
By Part Time Texan
I always stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Alvin when I visit my grandkids. Their queen suite is perfectly sized for sleepovers and the kids love the pool. I love the breakfast, the peace and [More] quiet, and the great pricing. [Less]
Nice stay
By MemeED
Stay at Candlewood in Galveston while attending my granddaughters wedding. Was very comfortable and convenient to the venue. Would recommend this motel for those over 60 (I am actually over 80)! [Less]
Nice bed, kitchen. Could use better wifi
By TXAG2013
Ask not to be put on the left back side of the hotel where there is a recycling facility. Presents a AWFUL view and noise in the morning. May also be why the wifi was to bad. You'll be right near the [More] highway and main streets which was nice because you are away from beach traffic. Beach is 5 mins up the road as well as Moody mansion, etc. Visit THE BRYAN MUSEUM! Fabolous Texas history museum with artifacts from all over the world. You wouldn't know it from their website. Cajun Greek is down the street which is great seafood. Kitchen in the room was great. Pots, pans, plates, 2 sets of silverware (bring more if you're more than a couple). Maxwell coffee machine downstairs is not very good. Tastes like instant. Bring coffee filters and make your own in the room coffee machine. Good value if you want to make meals during the trip to save money. [Less]
Excellent Staff
By leasurly
Due to flooding our stay was cut short. The staff was EXTREMELY helpful and courteous. Thanks for everything. [Less]
