This Texas destination caters to tourists of many interests, but whatever your tastes, IHG® has Houston hotels that will help you get the most out of your visit.

Things to See

Known as Space City for its longstanding support of America's astronautic adventures, Houston is home to several destinations essential for outer space lovers. The Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center serves as the training ground of America's elite astronauts, while the Space Center Houston features a restored replica of the Explorer space shuttle and hands-on lessons on what life is like on a real space mission. Houston features many professional opera companies, as well as symphony, theater, and ballet organizations, and the city’s Museum District ranks among the top in America. This area features 20 museums, all within easy walking distance of each other, including the Children's Museum of Houston, the John P. McGovern Museum of Health and Medical Science, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, or MFAH: the largest art museum in America's southwest. If you want to reconnect with nature, Houston has over 56,000 acres of park space -- more than any other city in America -- with bike paths and hiking trails to aid tourists in making the most of Houston's natural beauty.

Where to Stay

Houston's downtown area is a popular choice for travelers, as it has a wide variety of hotels within close proximity to restaurants, shopping malls, sporting venues, and cultural hotspots. The uptown Galleria area appeals to travelers seeking luxury hotels, gourmet dining and high-end shopping. The pedestrian-friendly Museum District is a great option for visitors who wish to see many of Houston’s cultural institutions during their stay, while the Hobby Airport/Third Ward neighborhood’s South Houston hotels are conveniently close to one of Houston's airports and some of its most unique restaurants.

How to Get to Houston

The Houston Airport System is made up of two airports: Bush Intercontinental Airport and Hobby Airport. Houston also has an often-used Amtrak station. Conveniently, both the Sunset Limited train (running between New Orleans to Los Angeles) and the Texas Eagle (running between Chicago to San Antonio) stop here. Houston's METRORail and METRO buses make transportation easy, giving travelers more freedom to choose where they stay. Local taxis have a flat rate of $6 for downtown travel, which lowers the need to navigate the area in a rental car.

Only bright spot

The only real bright spot of the stay was the service provided by the front desk clerk Heather. She was very helpful and always considerate of the guest needs. [Less]
Great Stay at Candlewood Suites
By Fun Loving Gal
I truly enjoyed my stay at the Candlewood Suites. I definitely appreciated the help of the staff when we found a problem with my CLC card, but with the help of both the staff and the convenience of [More] your internet, I was able to take care of the problem in no time at all. I will be traveling extensively this year, and will be looking forward to again staying at a Candlewood Suties establishment again! [Less]
Comfortable stay

The room was nice and comfortable. The only downside is the drapes do not block all the light in the mornings. Staff is super friendly. [Less]

Always enjoy the space in the rooms with the kitchen and sitting area. [Less]
Home away from home.
By MommaPearl
We stay here every time we visit the area. We know it will be quiet, clean and efficient. Our only negative with the hotel is that it is starting to look a bit worn. There are places on the carpet [More] that are frayed, the recliner had a lot of marks on it from, apparently, dog claws. Part of the desk area was broken, parts that covered the air conditioner vent were broken..... all small things, but put them together and it starts to look pretty beat and not what you expect from Candlewood. Great hotel. Only 2 negatives: limited parking and high road noise for rooms facing freeway. [Less]
The Best Place To Stay In The Area!
By Yogi1966
My company insists I stay with another brand because of our "corporate rate", but I found this hotel to be a better value and MUCH better accomodations. I used to stay a couple doors down at the [More] Holiday Inn Express and it was nice but they allow pets and that doesn't work for me. Crowne Plaza - Galleria made an amazing 1st impression on me when the other chain was sold out and I needed another option. Since then, it has been my exclusive choice for all my visits to Houston. In fact, I have stayed there over 21 days total on multiple occasions since the beginning of the year. I have also introduced the hotel to 4 other colleagues that now stay there per my recommendation. The best feature of the hotel is the staff. RJ, Jon, Steven, Dani, and Liz are amazing and all know me by name when I walk in the door since my first stay. The restaurant and bar staff also treat me like a VIP. That's impressive! The entire staff goes above and beyond to make my stay so enjoyable. It's worth braking our corporate travel rules to stay there. [Less]
Crowne Plaza

I have stayed at Crowne Plaza hotels from the USA, Philippines, Singapore to Bahrain, all are excellent, I always look for a Crowne Plaza hotel when I travel [Less]
