Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Gym in your room Oh how I wish every hotel I stayed for over a week were like this! Yes those hotels all have a gym, but they can be small, full, or poorly vented. A set of exercises and stretches following the instructions on TV then jumping right into shower is just priceless. November 20, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Refreshing wellness concept, with apathetic service from staff I had a good 5 day stay at the Even Hotels Norwalk. It was a refreshing concept to have all the modern amentities and exercise equipment in the room. The only negative I had from my stay was the unfriendliness and indifference of one hotel staff member. I had the most interactions with Robyn, a Front Desk Agent, who was not warm or welcoming from the initial check-in process all the way through to the last day of my stay. The first night I called for a tissue box since mine ran out, and she glumly said she'd send one up. An hour and a half later, I called the front desk back to ask where the tissue box was and she said she would send someone right up, which happened. Two days later I ran out of toilet paper (there is no extra roll in the bathroom) and she made it sound like I was inconveniencing her to dare request an extra roll of toilet paper. On the morning of my check out, the hot water was not working so I called the front desk. I received a curt "Front Desk" answer from the line. Being in the hotel industry myself, I am accustomed to hearing "Thank you for calling the front desk, how may I assist you?" The agent told me she would check with Engineering and call me back in 5 minutes. After not hearing from her in 15 minutes, I called back and she simply said she has to call me back and that "if I had to check out late, it would be understandable." I did not appreciate her apathetic tone of voice, and was even expecting a quick "I'm so sorry, I had a line at the front desk so I couldn't call you back before" or "I'm sorry the hot water isn't working but I'll have it fixed for you right away." The fact that she made no acknowledgement to the inconvenience (which is totally understandable as things happen), and the fact that she made it seem like I was bothering her with calling the front desk, really took away from having a positive experience at the hotel. While on the phone a third time with the agent, I asked for her name and she ignored me. I asked again and she said "what did you say??" and I asked for just her first name. She said Robyn and then hung up. When I checked out a half hour later, Robyn was at the desk and seemed to be in a better mood and quickly checked me out and wished me a good day. More training and retraining of hotel staff is advisable to ensure a positive and consistent guest experience. Also, hiring individuals that are inherently friendly and positive will also go a great way in providing genuine service to your guests. Robyn was the only non-friendly, apathetic, and least hospitable associate I encountered while at the hotel during the week. Each of the other front desk agents and bartenders seemed to be much more friendly, upbeat, and welcoming. November 17, 2014
