Great Place to be stuck in a blizzard
By MidLifeTraveler
As you drive up, it is not the most attractive hotel - but go inside and everything changes. Our stay coincided with the blizzard and had to be extended an additional day. We were able to check in [More] early and keep the same room for both nights. The hotel housed the staff during the storm and they were congenial and helpful the entire time. When the staff is happy, the customer can be happy! However, I was very disappointed the indoor pool was not open. Apparently the pool does not open in inclement weather - which is really when you need it, Other than that, the stay was great. We played games in the lobby, ate in the attached restaurant several times, used the gym, slept in a comfortable room. Great place to be stuck. Our room was large (king suite) and had additional seating, which was helpful because we spent so much time there. Desk was huge, tv worked well, bathroom was clean and we even had a refrigerator. I was able to use the gym, which is small but well-equipped with a tv, cloths to clean the machines, towels and water. We brought some games knowing the weather was going to be bad and spent some time in the lobby. The way the doors are designed, there is no draft and the seating (with tables) was very comfortable. Restaurant food was good and reasonably priced and the staff there was also housed so they were congenial as well (we had our own special table). If the pool were open, this would have been a perfect 10. . [Less]
Convenient to UMD

Stayed overnight when dropping off son at UMD. Convenient to campus. Clean rooms and lobby, friendly and efficient check-in. [Less]
Friendly service and comfortable accomodations
By Stephanie33
The Holiday Inn staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. The bed was comfortable. Overall, the hotel was very clean and comfortable, but it could use an upgrade. It is getting a little worn. [Less]
Very comfortable bed and great location
By DCHW16
Wonderful location 1 block from the White House. Positives: Grand entry and Lobby; taxi and shuttle buses right out front; beds were very comfortable; quiet rooms; concierge was exceptional very [More] knowledgeable and helpful; fast elevators. 4 night stay in this historic hotel would be rated 5 star but for a few items. The room itself was not up to the standard I expected. Light bulb out, leaking faucet, promised newspaper not delivered. I'm sure the staff would have corrected immediately had I mentioned the items before I left. Overall a great stay and I recommend the hotel. [Less]
A great place to spend a blizzard!
By Nancy560
We recently found ourselves riding out the Big Blizzard of 2016 at the Willard and have to say, it was really a lot of fun. The entire hotel staff went out of their way to make sure we were [More] comfortable, entertained and well-fed as the blizzard raged outside. Setting up an ice bar outside to afford the opportunity to sip champagne in the winter wonderland was inspired! Thanks for taking such good care of all of us!! [Less]

Good location, but not mainline
By PLPOH
Overall the hotel is fine. The staff is Great. The location is my main concern. While the hotel is positioned good for site seeing in DC, the Hotel is on the wrong side of town for any after hours [More] activities. If you want to go out to eat, there is NOTHING, but the Hotel restaurant available. When I go back, I will look for something closer to the Verizon Center, which is also close to all site seeing, but also close to food. [Less]
Snow storm Jonas
By SeanGr8
I decided to stay in DC to photograph the snow in various places in DC. I chose the Holiday Inn Capitol based on its convenient location and the Holiday Inn Brand. Upon arrival at the hotel I was [More] greeted courteously. The room was in excellent condition and the amenities were excellent. The fitness center was very good. The staff was pleasant and responsive. The breakfast buffet exceeded my expectations for both variety and quality, but I would have appreciated a few healthier choices for the bar and restaurant menu. The food was good. If there is an occasion to stay in DC again, this hotel would definitely get my business. [Less]
This is one of the best hotels that I've been
By nataliya7
The rooms were very clean and the furniture brand new. We had exellent experience, and we will definitely come back when we visit Washington D.C. again. We had plenty of space and we felt very secure [More] in the hotel. Great customer service! [Less]
