Standards slipping?
Disappointed with room including a shower without enough pressure to really get wet. Very slow service in bar area despite being quiet. Breakfast very over-priced and no option for a cheaper [More] continental option - had to pay the £20 for just toast, fruit and a yogurt! On plus side, while limited choice at dinner, the main course was superb and even saw the chef to congratulate. [Less]

Simple Easy and Good Location
By Patrick_1983
Located in a beautiful quiet area of London within 15 min walk of Buckingham Palace and 10 mins to Victoria Station. Very (very) small rooms, but an older area and pretty sure common for all hotels [More] in the immediate area. Excellent front desk staff, decent breakfast and overall good stay. [Less]
Good location, very noisy

We liked the location and staff were OK but the hotel was very noisy, which interrupted our sleep [Less]
Another Exemplary 'Intercontinental Experience'
By MrElias
Anyone who has read my reviews over the years knows that I am a loyal member of the IHG program because I love Intercontinental hotels. If there is an IHG where ever I travel, that is where you can [More] find me. Thus I was very excited to be staying at 3 Intercontinental hotels while in the United Kingdom. My first stay was at the 'London Park Lane' and the whole experience was extraordinary. Now, first it is important to know that in other countries where I return often to a specific IHG, I become friendly with the GM and his staff after constantly returning but.. for London, this was a first visit and I was an unknown. It astounded me that I have never received such 'Membership Platinum Ambassador' recognition from the moment I arrived. The entry where everyone greets you into the reception area is bustling and just beautiful. You feel an immediate sense that you are going to be feeling at home and yet the hotel has a stunning formal design that is mixed with the friendly but professional staff that mixes the two in an exemplary fashion. Olivia who is the head of Guest Relations met us at the reception desk and she knew who I was as soon as I gave my name. She was one of the most delightful, warm and professional IHG employees I have ever met. Not only that, she instantly gives you a sense of being cared for and that 'no problem'.. if it should arise..is too big for her to solve. Indeed, she even stopped by the lounge a few times to see how our stay was going and if we needed help with anything to do with our stay in London. There are a number of levels of rooms and suites in this stunning hotel. I had booked the second room from the top level and I saw on my reservation before I left for London that I had been upgraded to the top room level and I was very pleased. Well! Olivia announces to us that we are being moved into the 'Suite' as the hotel was booked and my loyalty was well noted. How can I top my review after telling what happened in just the first 15 minutes of arrival? ! As the room was not ready yet, we were escorted to the lounge (which I had added on to the stay but we officially had entrance privileges until that evening ..certainly not in the late morning) where we enjoyed the 'tea service' being set up as we sat and looked out over Hyde Park. This club room had finally surpassed my 'favorite for many years in another country' ...without doubt. The selection of fine champagnes and wines.. appetizers and such were of TOP, TOP quality and the service was the best I'd ever experienced in an 'IHG club lounge'. Indeed, the amazing breakfast buffet was all paid out to pick and enjoy at your leisure and then...my goodness...one of the lounge associates brought you over a breakfast menu to order a main dish which included as one of the choices... 'Full English Breakfast'. I have never had that level of service or generosity in a club lounge and it is so worth the extra pounds. Trust me...you won't be sorry. The views and gastronomic experience was a 10 out of 10. Well....we enjoyed discovering the stunning lobby area where they served their famous tea. The spa and fitness center (with pool) were very large and sparking with new equipment. Again TOP-DRAW. But ..I have yet to get to the real gem of the stay. Our room! The suite was gigantic and consisted of two rooms and a bathroom filled with a mixture of very high-end art and decoration while still giving a feeling of home and warmth. The sofas, tables and chairs were all comfortable but of the finest designer quality. The bathroom was as up-to-date as any hotel bathroom could possible be with too many extras to describe and it was the size of a studio apartment in Manhattan. Our bedroom was just exceptional with that wonderful IHG 'lull you to sleep' bed and we had not one..but two 46 inch televisions but....who needed TV when you could lay in bed and overlook Hyde Park. Possibly the nicest suite or executive room that I've enjoyed over the years. Dinner at Theo Randall is a must as your taste buds can see why it is one of the top rated restaurants in town and following up with a drink in the lobby was a perfect way to end one of our nights. The GM has passed down through his staff the perfect harmony of only presenting the best....while keeping a balance of 5* luxury with a smile and warmth. This is why I call it 'The Intercontinental Experience'. [Less]
Great Location
By TooLittleTime
This hotel is perfectly located for the museums and Hyde Park. The room was clean and quiet, which we needed after long days of walking around the city. It was also convenient for the Hop-on [More] Hop-off buses. [Less]
Happy 50th Anniversary
By BIGDAVEWW
We chose to stay in London en-route to our cruise about the British Isles for our 50th wedding anniversary. The most impressive portion of the stay there was the people they had on staff. The front [More] desk was very good and the concierge was excellent. The doormen were both of the quality I would like to find at every hotel where I stay. Very capable and much in control of that area of the hotel so that I never felt "crushed" or "buried" in people and yet the amount of traffic through was amazing. They handled a Saturday morning wedding and made it seem routine with a crowd of about 100 right next to the front entrance. The young lady the worked the concierge desk (for what seemed like nearly every minute of our stay was knowledgeable, likeable, friendly, and provided impeccable service. She is a true asset to this organization. [Less]
