Could use some updating
By gsteeves
The hotel was generally quiet and comfortable. Some amenities such as the abundant plugs in the room for phones and computers were a nice touch. The hotel is an older building and there are some [More] other things that could use updating. The card swiper on my room door was very flakey and required a visit from engineering to tinker with it. He concluded they'd have to order a new one. There was a card swiper in one of the elevators that was missing so that particular elevator had no floor access restrictions while the others did. That said, my stay was pleasant. If I had a complaint it would be this: the hotel offers a free courtesy shuttle to and from Love Field. I reserved a ride to the airport for Friday morning with two coworkers and was told that this would hold a ride for me. When we got down there (10 minutes early) at 5:20 am, the bell told me that the bus had just left, but - no problem - he'd have another ride for me in a few minutes and he made a phone call. Sure enough, an SUV pulled up and took us to the airport. After the 10 minute ride, the driver told me we owed him $40 (the shuttle was supposed to be free). If the bell hop had explained that we had two choices: wait for the shuttle bus to return or pay $40 for a 10-minute ride, at least it would have been our decision. I didn't appreciate getting blind-sided though. As a side note, I thought the clothing and ball cap of this particular employee seemed out of place for this caliber of establishment. I'm certain he was an actual hotel employee because we were there all week and saw him more than once. His standard of dress seemed very casual compared to the front desk and elsewhere in the hotel. Just my thoughts. [Less]
