Featured Alexandria Hotels

Stay in our hotels in Alexandria, Virginia, just down the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. You'll be near colonial Old Town, where the nation's founding fathers once ate and prayed, and Mount Vernon-George Washington's beloved countryside home.

Guests of our hotels in Alexandria can easily explore Old Town on foot. Historic buildings with monumental Greek Revival columns share the cobble-stoned streets with simple Federal-style townhouses from the 1700s. The stately Carlyle House mansion was the scene of intense taxation negotiations between British officials and Colonial governors. George Washington and Robert E. Lee are among the long list of historic attendees of Christ Church-where you can sit in their family pews. Our Alexandria hotels are a short drive from George and Martha Washington's plantation home, built in Mount Vernon in 1799. The immaculately maintained house is furnished with everyday objects from the Washingtons' lives, including Martha's tea cups and Washington's writing desk. If modern-day governance is more your style, simply head out of Alexandria on the Metro and you'll be on the steps of the United States Capitol in a half-hour.

Flashy boutiques and antique stores fill the dozen blocks of turn-of-the-century storefronts on King Street, near our Alexandria hotels. Artists display works in glass and ceramics in the open studios in the Torpedo Factory Art Center, in a 1918 redbrick warehouse on the Potomac. King Street's restaurants draw patrons from metropolitan Washington, D.C., looking for colonial ambience and inventive American cuisine. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson celebrated at Gadsby's Tavern, where you can enjoy filet mignon and roast duck at dinner.

Book our Holiday Inn® hotels in Alexandria in February for Washington's birthday at Gadsby's Tavern, celebrated annually here since 1797, or in September, when Mount Vernon hosts 18th-century music and craft demonstrations in the Colonial Market and Fair.

Great experience overral just a few tweaks needed
By Jvid89
I really enjoyed the room set up. The bed was comfortable and the ac worked well. Needed to extend my check out time and decided to call at 3 am, nonetheless received prompt and kind customer service [More] when I called. My only gripe was that I couldn't fully closed the Windows drapes and had no visible blinds which let a lot of light in the room in the evening and early morning. [Less]
Lovely stay at the Willard
By caberg
I have been working in DC and my girlfriend came to visit me over the weekend. We loved the hotel, particularly the workout room and spa. The lobby and common areas are beautiful and a great place to [More] hang out and have a drink. [Less]
Very comfortable bed and great location
By DCHW16
Wonderful location 1 block from the White House. Positives: Grand entry and Lobby; taxi and shuttle buses right out front; beds were very comfortable; quiet rooms; concierge was exceptional very [More] knowledgeable and helpful; fast elevators. 4 night stay in this historic hotel would be rated 5 star but for a few items. The room itself was not up to the standard I expected. Light bulb out, leaking faucet, promised newspaper not delivered. I'm sure the staff would have corrected immediately had I mentioned the items before I left. Overall a great stay and I recommend the hotel. [Less]
A great place to spend a blizzard!
By Nancy560
We recently found ourselves riding out the Big Blizzard of 2016 at the Willard and have to say, it was really a lot of fun. The entire hotel staff went out of their way to make sure we were [More] comfortable, entertained and well-fed as the blizzard raged outside. Setting up an ice bar outside to afford the opportunity to sip champagne in the winter wonderland was inspired! Thanks for taking such good care of all of us!! [Less]

Great Reception, Good Impression, Safe Hotel

Hotel Room heater is too noisy in cold winter. But understand this is not a central heat system or cooling system. Cannot expect too many. [Less]
Excellent choice in Hotels
By SRBEHB56
We chose to stay here at Holiday Inn as we have stayed at others in the past and knew they were great. We wanted to stay here as it was close to the hospital where my daughter was having surgery. It [More] was so much better to stay here than travel back and forth on the beltway for several days. The service was great, the breakfast and hostesses were so Good and kind. Our room was clean, comfortable and so nice to have a frig and microwave. We were so pleased with our choice to stay here and certainly in the future we will stay here again when the opportunity comes. [Less]
