Stay in our hotels in Alexandria, Virginia, just down the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. You'll be near colonial Old Town, where the nation's founding fathers once ate and prayed, and Mount Vernon-George Washington's beloved countryside home.
Guests of our hotels in Alexandria can easily explore Old Town on foot. Historic buildings with monumental Greek Revival columns share the cobble-stoned streets with simple Federal-style townhouses from the 1700s. The stately Carlyle House mansion was the scene of intense taxation negotiations between British officials and Colonial governors. George Washington and Robert E. Lee are among the long list of historic attendees of Christ Church-where you can sit in their family pews. Our Alexandria hotels are a short drive from George and Martha Washington's plantation home, built in Mount Vernon in 1799. The immaculately maintained house is furnished with everyday objects from the Washingtons' lives, including Martha's tea cups and Washington's writing desk. If modern-day governance is more your style, simply head out of Alexandria on the Metro and you'll be on the steps of the United States Capitol in a half-hour.
Flashy boutiques and antique stores fill the dozen blocks of turn-of-the-century storefronts on King Street, near our Alexandria hotels. Artists display works in glass and ceramics in the open studios in the Torpedo Factory Art Center, in a 1918 redbrick warehouse on the Potomac. King Street's restaurants draw patrons from metropolitan Washington, D.C., looking for colonial ambience and inventive American cuisine. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson celebrated at Gadsby's Tavern, where you can enjoy filet mignon and roast duck at dinner.
Book our Holiday Inn® hotels in Alexandria in February for Washington's birthday at Gadsby's Tavern, celebrated annually here since 1797, or in September, when Mount Vernon hosts 18th-century music and craft demonstrations in the Colonial Market and Fair.

I love the IHG brand, and this hotel was no exception. The staff was very friendly, the room was incredibly clean, and I had no troubles with checking out (in spite of a very early check out time).[More] Would highly recommend for business/leisure travel.[Less]
Good value for the money
Good value. Clean. Close to restaurants and shopping.[Less]
This is a nice, well run hotel and very easy to get to . The staff is very friendly and Abraham does an excellent job as the Weekend Manager.[Less]
An excellent stay
We have been guests at the Holiday Inn Gaithersburg, Maryland many times because of the excellent and special treatment we receive from all the staff. They do everything to make your stay as great[More] and comfortable as can be.
The food also was excellent as was the service in the dining room.

The showers are nice, but a bit small. Some of the furniture is a little outdate, but still nice. The bed is the best part of the stay. And the entire staff is excellent. Everyone was very pleasant,[More] attentive, and professional,[Less]
The stay was great but the internet didn't work. The few times I was able to connect to the wireless the speed was so slow that nothing would load. Other then the internet issues the hotel was great.[Less]

Great service and enjoyable sleep
I like coming to Alexandria and being close to the action. The staff is always friendly, efficient and seem to truly be concerned for me and my needs. It feels like coming home when I arrive and a[More] little sad when I leave.[Less]
Great Staff, Nice Room
Upon check-in had a great experience with staff, room was pretty easy to find. Very little noise outside room with high school group on floor - but is near airport so you did hear planes overhead.[More] Slight walk from Metro and Old Town Alexandria (I wouldn't consider this if wanting to stay in main part of Old Town Alexandria, but great for business)- shuttles provided to Metro and Old Town. Some fixtures in our room clearly not updated with last update, those looked very dated but everything else in great shape. Comfy mattress and pillows.
In quiet neighborhood, with nice parking. Looked to be very pet friendly.[Less]
