Featured Alexandria Hotels

Stay in our hotels in Alexandria, Virginia, just down the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. You'll be near colonial Old Town, where the nation's founding fathers once ate and prayed, and Mount Vernon-George Washington's beloved countryside home.

Guests of our hotels in Alexandria can easily explore Old Town on foot. Historic buildings with monumental Greek Revival columns share the cobble-stoned streets with simple Federal-style townhouses from the 1700s. The stately Carlyle House mansion was the scene of intense taxation negotiations between British officials and Colonial governors. George Washington and Robert E. Lee are among the long list of historic attendees of Christ Church-where you can sit in their family pews. Our Alexandria hotels are a short drive from George and Martha Washington's plantation home, built in Mount Vernon in 1799. The immaculately maintained house is furnished with everyday objects from the Washingtons' lives, including Martha's tea cups and Washington's writing desk. If modern-day governance is more your style, simply head out of Alexandria on the Metro and you'll be on the steps of the United States Capitol in a half-hour.

Flashy boutiques and antique stores fill the dozen blocks of turn-of-the-century storefronts on King Street, near our Alexandria hotels. Artists display works in glass and ceramics in the open studios in the Torpedo Factory Art Center, in a 1918 redbrick warehouse on the Potomac. King Street's restaurants draw patrons from metropolitan Washington, D.C., looking for colonial ambience and inventive American cuisine. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson celebrated at Gadsby's Tavern, where you can enjoy filet mignon and roast duck at dinner.

Book our Holiday Inn® hotels in Alexandria in February for Washington's birthday at Gadsby's Tavern, celebrated annually here since 1797, or in September, when Mount Vernon hosts 18th-century music and craft demonstrations in the Colonial Market and Fair.

Great Hotel!
By Katrinaf13
We have stayed here several times and will continue to stay here when in Rockville. The staff is courteous and friendly, check in/out is quick and easy, and the rooms are clean, comfortable and [More] fresh. Would like to see more EVEN hotels pop up in other cities. [Less]

Excellent Hotel
By ClevelandGoodGuy
I slept better during my stay here than I have at home in a long time. The bed, pillows and bedding were the best quality and very comfortable. It was very quite in the hotel room and the room shade [More] kept it very dark in the room while we were sleeping. It was the cleanest hotel I've seen in a long time and the decor was beautiful. I could stay in the bathroom forever - it was beautifully designed and very well it. Great channel selections on the TV. I wish there were more hotels like this around the country. I can't wait to stay again. [Less]
Lovely elegant hotel with a rich history
By Teekay9495
We spent a week at the Wilkard in November 2015. It was our first stop on our first trip to the U.S. and after a very long journey it was a pleasure to check into our room. The hotel itself is one [More] big photo opportunity and has an interesting collection of memorabilia. We needed to call a doctor in on the third night which the Concierge arranged promptly, but I note no one (apart from the Doctor) followed up to see if my husband was feeling better. We didn't dine in the hotel so I can't comment on the restaurants, but we found the location very convenient. Washington is a great city to walk around and the many attractions, memorials and museums are world class and easy to get to. One disappointment was I thought I may have left behind a pair of slippers and contacted the hotel to ask them to on forward them to me at my hotel in New York. I received an email advising they did have my slippers but would only FedEx them and asked for a payment type. There was no indication of how much that would cost and I'd never ever email credit card details for security reasons. I would have appreciated them just being sent as a goodwill gesture, but obviously not to be. They weren't expensive so I just replied to tell Carolyn to donate them to charity as I'd only worn them once. No response. Apart from that we loved Washington and wished we could have stayed longer. Oh and the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, [Less]

The hotel is located strategically across the street from the White House and within a very quick cab ride of Capital Hill and the Congressional Office Buildings. Excellent customer service from [More] Check-in through departure. All staff were extremely courteous and hospitable. Everyone was appeared happy with their job and willing to assist with any issue that you may have. I look forward to a return visit in a couple of months and expect this time to take my wife to allow her the opportunity to enjoy the hotel as well. [Less]
Quick and easy checkin and QUIET room!

We hadn't made reservations, and found the staff very helpful when we showed up for a room. Comfortable bed, quiet sleep. Nice balcony with fresh air for the room. Easy 10 minute walk to the old town [More] of Alexandria. [Less]

Old Town Alexandria
By Danny and Rebecca
The Holiday Express and Suites in old town Alexandria was a nice place to stay. It was reasonably priced as compared to some of their competitors in the area. We paid up front for the Fiscal Cliff [More] Package which includes parking and breakfast buffet. For this time of year I didn't realize that parking on the street was in abundance and free on the weekend when I stayed. And as far as breakfast it was descent, but not a fresh out of the kitchen breakfast. In the future I would probably pass and visit a local restaurant on King Street. The positive, the room was clean. The bed was very comfortable. The air was easily controlled. The staff was wonderful and accommodating. They provided free transportation to the DC metro (either old town or airport). They recommended us getting on at the airport, which was convenient. But, to top if all off we used bicycles free of charge to explore the city. They weren't in the best shape, but they were free so no complaints here. Management did allow us to arrive early, to check in and park early, and the following day we checked out and left our vehicle on premises when we took the bicycles out to explore the city. So, again over all a great place to stay. Enjoyed my time in Old Town Alexandria. And thanks to the staff for their friendliness and being accommodating. [Less]
