Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by High Wycombe but average I am a frequent user of Holiday Inns but this was a one night leisure visit. The hotel is located immediately off the M40, with an adjacent cinema multiplex and a large next superstore and just a walk from a John Lewis store. The centre of High Wycombe is 2 miles away. The hotel has ample car park and is a low level complex with rooms around a courtyard giving a quiet atmosphere despite the motorway nearby. Reception is bright and cheerful with a bar and lots of tables for business meetings and some sofas for relaxation. The area does need curtains or blinds as the windows are large and the area is not very cosy with just bare glass. We were received well (we did have to wait a couple of minutes for the receptionist) and she used all the ‘corporate’ words in her greeting, recognising me as a IHG points member, although she didn’t mention the late check-out that points members are entitled to. We got the complementary chocolate biscuit! We were directed to our room, which was normal for a Holiday Inn Executive Room. The Hotel and room was clean. Facilities include direct dial phone; hairdryer and Iron / Ironing Board and trouser press. Room was about irregularly shaped, about 4m x 3m with a bathroom 2m x 2m. The room contained a double bed with a choice of pillows, a wooden headboard, desk and chair, wardrobe (without a top), easy chair and occasional table. 2 bedside shelves had bed lights – lighting levels were good. There was a mini-bar (Soft drinks £1.50). The carpet was striped orange and fawn and looked faded. The bathroom had a tiled floor and white wash basin and white bath with shower. The windows could be opened. The room worked well – air conditioning soon heated the room, black-out was excellent, bed linen clean and we slept well. Shower was very hot. Hospitality tray was well stocked. Excellent towels and toiletries. The TV was very large but a restricted range of channels. Breakfast was normal for a Holiday Inn (with a pancake maker). We enjoyed it, but I thought the hot buffet was a little dry, being under the heaters for too long. We had to wait at Reception for someone to check us out (and we had to wait to ask for directions on another occasion) and we didn’t get our complementary Independent newspaper delivered as a points member. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not the greeting expected As an IHG Gold Elite member I am used to being welcomed to the hotel. On this occasion the receptionist seemed distracted. On enquiring about the box on the reception which had 'for Gold and Platinum members' I was told that it was only for elite members. Further discussion ensued which resulted in him stating that I am not a gold member as there was nothing on his system. Rather disgruntled we made our way to our room. In the room was a postcard saying if your service is not 10/10 to contact the hotel manager. I sent an email to the manager stating what had happened and asking for his intervention to ensure that their system be updated to reflect my gold status. To date I have not even had an acknowledgment of the email from him. I have just checked in to the holiday inn in Hanover Pennsilvania USA and been greeted as I would expect to be. May 10, 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by As always First time at this Holiday Inn but found it clean, well presented and in good order. The main reason for staying at Holiday Inn's is that you get a quiet undisturbed nights sleep, and we had just that, not a sound all night ,bliss. The staff were charming and helpful, the only quibbles were that service for the evening meal took forever, not the staffs fault but whoever was in the kitchen must have been on his own! On check out we met a cross young lady who insisted we owed money. After some protracted denials she finally realised she had made a mistake and waved us away! Won't put us off, but a smile and "Oh I made a mistake" works wonders. April 30, 2015
