I enjoyed my stay at this Holiday Inn but had a negative experience reserving a taxi through the front desk.
The hotel is structured like an enclosed motel, as in the hallways are along the outside of the building (but enclosed with windows), and the guest rooms are in the center of the building. That means your room's window opens to a hallway, not the outside. We kept our curtains closed for this reason. The rooms themselves are good quality, the usual nice/affordable room I'd expect from a Holiday Inn, though our room was somewhat smaller than I'm used to. We ate breakfast at the hotel restaurant and were happy with the quality and price.
Our negative experience was a rough one. We asked the front desk to recommend a taxi service, and the employee I spoke with was nice enough to arrange the taxi for me. I overheard him say "Make sure the guy is on time this time", which was somewhat concerning, though I appreciated this employee's honesty. When the taxi arrived, it was 20 minutes late, despite the dispatcher assuring us the taxi was "right outside". Other hotel employees were trying to tell us that the taxi company is usually on time, but one front desk employee seemed to be trying to avoid our questions about it. Finally the taxi arrived, but the driver took 25 minutes to drive us to a location 5 minutes away. We were unfamiliar with the area but took note of his route to find he was deliberately taking a longer way, even driving past our destination by several miles only to make a U-turn later on. I'd like to say that this 40 minute delay can be written off as "life happens", but it was especially unfortunate for us because it caused us to arrive late to the wedding we were attending.
The next day, we approached the front desk at check-out to speak with a manager about the taxi company. The front desk employee we spoke with was hesitant to get the manager, and then when we spoke with the manager we received the same story that "the taxi company is always on time" and that our experience was out of the ordinary. We found that hard to believe after the other front desk employee had very clearly indicated that the taxi company had been late on another occasion and warned them to be on time this time. The manager assured us he would call the taxi company and speak with the manager, and we sincerely hope that he followed through with that. We were guests from out of town and were hoping to rely on the hotel for a local recommendation, and the hotel definitely let us down in that respect.
Overall: the hotel is nice, but if you need a taxi, ask which taxi company they use so you know which one not to call.

Plainview is the only place I stay when on LI.
When in NYC, I visit your Midtown location on w57th.
Which is were I will be on Thursday 7/23/2014.

We enjoyed our stay very much everything we needed was in the room. The room was very clean with clean towels everyday and plenty of them. Everything was so nice. The buffet had a nice variety of breakfast items. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again in Long Island.
