Great place to stay in Plymouth

We stayed for five nights with aim of walking some of the coastal path and exploring Plymouth. The location f the hotel on Plymouth Hoe is wonderful. The resturant is on the top floor maximising th great views. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The pool is well eated although the changing areas are a bit basic.
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and we felt for some of the staff who were from Eastern Europe in light of Brexit and how they must be feeling. They have bought great courtesy to our hotels - but here it was all the staff.
The only downside is the lack of information in the room about th hotel and the surrounding area.
The car park is not the easiest but we appreciated having one.

A nice hotel

Overall the stay was good - the sea view rooms offer a great view and are really spacious.
I found the beds slightly firm, but still slept well; and the bathroom was well laid out.

The food was great, and there was a good selection. One of my friends is vegetarian, and noted that the vegetarian choices weren't labelled on the main restaurant menu. Staff were very helpful in this regard though, and he was offered the option to choose items from both the bar and restaurant menus.

Excellant well run hotel.

Plymouth chosen as an excellent centre to visit many places of interest.
Service was good value for money and the membership of our local Holiday Inn Leisure Club gave us a worth while discount on the bar facilities.

Hotel had everything I needed without being spectacular until I sat down for dinner in the restaurant with a view of the Hoe and the Sound beyond

A reliably relaxing stay

The hotel lobby was smart and staff helpful on check-in and check-out. Room spacious, clean and comfortable, albeit a bit tired and in need of a re-furb. Bed comfy. Incomplete selection of toiletries in the room - why would I want shampoo, but not conditioner? Hand wash, but not shower-gel. Had my own stuff so didn't bother to ask, but didn't leave the best impression. Cleaner had also left their own reminder note about jobs to do, on the sink. The parking was close by, but unmonitored by hotel so that it proved almost impossible to get my car out on departure due to lack of consideration by other clients. Whilst I appreciate this is primarily down to guests' selfishness, if I'm paying for parking, I expect less hassle and more supervision by the hotel. Would not use their car park again, but there is plenty of on-street parking nearby. The biggest issue for me was the inability to open the windows in the room. The windows are floor to ceiling and health and safety laws mean they were locked. Although there was Air-Con, I personally need to sleep with a window open or I wake up in the night with a head-ache and stuffed up - which I did. So this marred what might otherwise have been a good night's sleep. In all other respects I would recommend this hotel, but personally I would not stay there again with unopenable windows.

The bedrooms will be refurbished in the late autumn of 2016, with completion scheduled for Christmas, we will then convert to a Crowne Plaza Hotel. Car Parking

Lovely to have car parking at the Hotel, but the Plymouth hotel needs to share the warning of how tight the Car Park is to access and move around - it came as a surprise of how tight and narrow it was.

Friendly service and great food

Holiday Inn in Plymouth was good value for money. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was lovely. The furniture in the room was in need of updating but otherwise ok. Beds were comfortable, TV and Internet access good. We would use this hotel if we visited Plymouth in the future.

Wonderful hotel, great location and welcoming staff

Lovely warm welcome by the receptionist who was very helpful and efficient - a very good start to our stay. As our room was not quite ready (as we were very early) she offered to keep hold of our luggage whilst we went down to the Gin Festival that we had come to attend at the Guildhall.

We returned later and were given a high level superior room, next to the lifts and with a stunning sea view - all of which I had requested. Excellent service and beautiful room with 2 huge super king beds and superb view across the Hoe to Smeaton's Tower and Plymouth Sound.

We received outstanding service from our lady server May in the restaurant - she even apologised for the fact that I had to send the custard back because it was lumpy - and it was not even her fault!

The food was all lovely and appetising and not especially expensive that you might expect in an hotel restaurant.

As Reward Members we were offered a complimentary glass of wine with our dinner - which was a nice touch.

Breakfast the next morning although buffet style was very good with plenty of choices of food and drinks.

Car parking overnight was £3 which is very cheap for any city centre - but be warned the car park turning is very tight and you need to drive slowly. I was driving my Mercedes 300SL convertible and she took some manoeuvring around the corners!

A very pleasant stay and I would recommend the hotel to anyone.

Friendly staff and comfortable stay

Friendly staff always with a smile, made our family holiday go well. Praise to management.
The building exterior could be improved, but it is a old 60's style building. The view from Elliot Restaurant was amazing, made our breakfast more enjoyable.
Found the bed too soft, and stains on cover.. but staff were quick to respond and change the covers.
Used the swimming pool, sauna and fitness facilities that were very modern. Free WiFi was used too.
Very enjoyable stay :)

The Hotel is getting a little out dated with no air conditioning (must be uncomfortable in the summer) and breakfast seems not to the previous standard - toaster not working, no pots of tea instead use a tea bag in a machine
