Hotel easy to find from motorway.
Car park very full with small spaces.
Swimming pool out of action but no mention of that prior to booking.
Full nights sleep impossible due to constant traffic noise from main road all night. Told when I checked out that the room I had was not used unless the hotel was full !
Would only stay again on condition that the room I was allocated was away from the road.

After booking 3 rooms back in January and 2 subsequent phone calls (one the day before arrival) to ensure we could get into rooms early, we arrived late - 2pm normal checking in time! (M25 Traffic)and the rooms still weren't ready. Despite the receptionist ringing housekeeping several times no-one came back to her. She was very helpful but new and out of her depth. We had to wait half an hour before we could get into ONE room and drop of our bags and get changed. This was very upsetting as we were attending my granddaughter's 'Surprise' birthday party and had to be in place by 3pm. Thankfully the party was only 10 minutes away.
Bar/food staff were excellent in the evening, very attentive. Housekeeping not so good - I requested 2 hard pillows only to be told "Sorry, I can only find these soft ones".
At breakfast the staff again were excellent except the unhappy looking chef who just disappeared halfway through cooking eggs and the waiting staff leader had to take over.
Also why were guests NOT informed that the swimming pool was unavailable? My grandsons were very disappointed. A couple who arrived the same time as us went elsewhere, very annoyed they had not been informed.
The room was nice, the bathroom exceptional. Most staff excellent. But really not impressed with Holiday Inn Chatham.

location was suitable, know what I'm going to get and they have a gym at the hotel
