Excellent place to relax. Nice peuple, except for the blonde young girl who was at the reception desk. She was neither friendly nor helpful with us.

I recently stayed at this location using my credit card annual free night. Sanibel Island is a wonderful place. Spent several hours at the Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge and saw egrets, a spoonbill, a yellow-crowned night heron and numerous other birds. The beach at the hotel was very nice also. More shells than anyplace else we've been although you have to be careful to not pick up one containing a live animal. Broken shells can be sharp also. Lots of pelicans and osprey.
The hotel is an older facility and is beginning to show its age. Doors open to the exterior. Even though the room had a dehumidifier, it felt a bit damp.
The reason for the low score is the non-disclosed resort fee of $27.50. I asked the polite people at the front desk if my reservation confirmation mentioned a resort fee. Answer: no. Asked if they mentioned it when I checked in. No again. Where was it disclosed then? Somewhere on the website. Well, I made my reservation on the website and didn't see it.
Holiday Inn, I can afford a resort fee. Just disclose it.

The price of the room was very high. That being the case, I expected a very nice hotel. This place looked like a remodeled motel from the 80s. The room was so muggy that 3 in our party woke up sick the following morning. At breakfast, we were charged $6 for two child-size glasses of orange juice and $5.50 for two bland black coffees. Not to mention the already included 18% tip for a waiter that disappeared once we sat down. On top of that, an additional "resort fee", "county tax", and "state tax" was added to the bill upon checkout. We paid about $90 in these fees alone! For an additional $90, we could have stayed at another much nicer hotel in the area. That being said, the staff was extremely courteous and professional. However, I would not recommend this hotel or their restaurant to my family or friends.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn on Sanibel Island for the first time recently. We booked a trip to Ft. Myers beach, but could not find accommodations there for the entire length of our vacation, so we looked at options on Sanibel Island. We would absolutely return to this Holiday Inn. Everything about the hotel was excellent, and was much, much nicer than the hotel we stayed at on Ft. Myers Beach for the first half of our trip. The only negatives about this hotel is that there is no fitness center, continental breakfast or airport shuttle. We liked that you could stay any nights of the week for any length of time, unlike most of the properties on the island that require you to stay from Saturday to Saturday.
