Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by dhk74 Great hotel, welcoming staff, inconsistent weak wi-fi
I stayed at the Holiday Inn Downtown Centre in Toronto on two occasions. On both occasions, I was very pleased with the cleanliness of the hotel and the hotel room, the hotel room's amenities, including in-suite refrigerator, and the welcoming and helpful hotel staff.
My first complaint was that my room's wi-fi was so inconsistent and weak, I could barely get any work done. I suspect the wi-fi signal on the area of the floor I was on was not adequately broadcasting.
My second complaint was that I was unable to access the hotel's gym. I saw a swimming pool, but no gym. And no signage was available to point me in the correct direction.
Other than that, I liked my stay at this hotel and would recommend other business and leisure travelers to do the same.

The room was sufficient for resting but that's it. Wifi was unreliable and slow. Gym was rudimentary and had short opening hours. The interior was also dated.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by dealbreaker Wonderful staff, terrible wi-fi
The staff were exceptionally courteous and helpful and cheerful.
The room was clean but cramped, not surprising for the price i paid in such an excellent location (Loblaw's next door for food/snacks, subway stop in the same block).
Also, the rooms were incredibly quiet, and it was easy to get comfortable in them.
The dealbreaker was the terrible wi-fi service. The staff said it was "down" on the first night of my stay, but that didn't really change over the next couple of days.
I won't be back to Holiday Inn because of the wi-fi, which I feel is an essential guest service these days.
