Rated 5,0 out of 5,0 by Comfortable stay over the Christmas period We stayed between Christmas and New Year in December 2014. The hotel was very clean and well maintained. Staff were very polite and helpful. As a result of such low occupancy during this period there were admittedly less staff around. At times this meant waiting a few minutes before someone attended the bar or reception. Rooms were modern and clean although ours was quite small. The rooms were very warm. I put the air con on one night (this was Dec with frost outside) to cool the room down. The air con worked well although all through the night it sounded as though there was a problem with the plumbing pipes. No idea why this happened with the air con. On the second night I didn't put the air con on and didn't notice this sound at all. This is the second time we've stayed in this hotel and we'll stay here again without hesitation. 9. Januar 2015
Rated 4,0 out of 5,0 by New Year's Eve Celebrations Great night at New Year's Eve Celebration with friends and it was nice to stay over so we could have a couple of drinks and not have to think about getting home. The breakfast in the morning (brunch) was excellent and wads a nice way to relax on New Year's Day before setting off home. 6. Januar 2015
Rated 4,0 out of 5,0 by Convenient location, helpful staff Stayed here over Christmas to accomodate family at home. Great location just off Jct 40 of the M1 so easy to get everyewhere. Friendly helpful staff who resolved an issue with no fuss. Exec rooms are worth staying in although standard family rooms are perfectly adequate with plenty of space. 3. Januar 2015

The hotel is clean but just a little 'tired looking' . Considering it was Christmas Eve and Christmas Day all the staff were smiling and had time to chat to the guests. Rated 4,0 out of 5,0 by Best Holiday Inn We use Holiday Inns regularly and this one at Wakefield was the best we have experienced. Although not all of the little problems we experience at Holiday Inns had been ironed out, many were. Some of the good points: friendly efficient reception, excellent bar staff (Tom in particular), free newspapers, excellent breakfast staff (Marie in particular), porridge available as a serve yourself item, likewise black pudding (the last 2 Holiday Inns we have visited have taken black pudding off their menu.) Dinners exceedingly tasty, plenty of parking with easy access. Not so good points: drinks (particularly wine) expensive, booking by phone through America - particularly bad experience - many points left unexplained and/or stated wrongly (eg "you can pay for breakfast when you arrive at £10 per head" - actually £10.95 per head) - shall endeavour to book direct with hotel in future though IHG don't make this easy. Only dropped one star due to minor hiccup with wifi access not recognising rewards club member rooms. 21. Dezember 2014
Rated 2,0 out of 5,0 by Very disappointed to say the least Turned up to find a couple of Christmas parties going on. Shame this hadn't been highlighted on the website at time of booking or by way of a warning email!! Took forever to get checked in as the 1 receptionist on duty was obviously too busy to cope on her own. As an IHG platinum member I was not greeted or recognised as such at all. I was stuck in the dingiest of rooms I've ever been given with what looked like a 4 foot bed. (Despite asking if I qualified for an upgrade to which I received a sharp No you're not we've not got rooms -- Even though the website was offering many as still available to book) I Went and asked if they had a twin and was given a better standard room. I then phoned and asked for some more pillows and & a wifi key and was told they would be delivered, but they didn't arrive. I got woken up by drunk people at 1am and despite trying to ring reception to ask them to help they just didn't answer the phone so I gave up trying. The noise eventually stopped at just gone 4am I mentioned this to the receptionist in the morning and just got a tough luck type of response. Wasn't given any IHG rewards points or drink voucher or complimentary upgrade. I'm referred to as one of their most valuable guests!!!!! Not at this hotel. That said, stayed at the Indigo Newcastle the following night and was treated like royalty!!! Positives - Room was clean and breakfast was nice. 17. Dezember 2014
