stayed 3 nights at hotel for a conference next door. perfect for that - bridge linked.
staff were wonderful but the services provided are fairly basic.
rooms are fairly basic, with no fridge in them. no real quiet area to sit in public areas - either the bar area or in front of reception.
coffee in restaurant at breakfast every day was awful - had to go to the Costa next door to get a reasonable cup. restaurant menu does not have a cheese board option on it. room service had never heard of Horlicks or Oval tine.

I stayed for two nights this week and ordered a newspaper for the Monday and Tuesday. The newspapers were not delivered - on Monday I was told they had not been delivered to the hotel. I had to make do with the i "newspaper" which as free to all guests although as a Platinum Member I was given a note to say it would be delivered to my room - I had to get it from the restaurant each day. I suggest changing suppliers if newspapers are not delivered for two consecutive days. (although the free "newspaper" was available - it took only a few minutes to read the news from cover to cover as most of it is adverts or reprints of the same news elsewhere in the paper)
The room had two telephones, neither of which worked. I had to go to the bar to order room service on Sunday and was told that there was a new telephone system in place and that some rooms had not worked - apparently it is beyond the wit of Housekeeping to pick up the telephone in each room to check the telephones. Even though it was reported on Sunday the hotel did not repair it so I had again to go to the bar on Monday evening to order room service - the reason why I wanted room service was to save time whilst working in my room so on both days my train of thought and concentration was disturbed.
Breakfasts were leisurely as I had to wait for two attempts with the toast machine to get the colour of the bead to change from white to toasted - I went for breakfast earlier on Tuesday to take account of this delay. This is a common problem in Holiday Inns.

I was very dissapointed at the bar charges for 2 drinks that I bought for my wife and myself.
1 Bicardi and lemonade £11.20
1 Soda water and Blackcurrent £4.95
We are aware of this in the future we wont be having a drink, I would sugesst reducing the prices.
