on our second day we returned in the afternoon and discovered a wallet had been lost during our day.The check in staff immediately came to our help ,contacting the places we had visited trying to locate our lost items. She also provided telephone information for our ongoing searches.
the staff were very sympathetic and a great reassurance.
luckily we found the lost items and no problems were left

We have visited this hotel in the past and found it to be excellent. This is the reason we visited again. We found the service of all the staff to be excellent. Very friendly and accommodating to all our needs. We stayed for the evening meal and also for the full English breakfast and the food was absolutely delicious. The room was spotlessly clean and very inviting. We had a very peaceful nights rest and woke up refreshed. Could not fault this hotel in any way. Very welcoming indeed.

Pleasant surroundings, pity not nearer centre. Room had noise externally from traffic. Would however use again, but ensure quieter room.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Andrew - Edinburgh Good hotel - poor breakfast.....are standards slipping?
We have stayed at this Holiday Inn dozens of times. We like the peace, large comfortable rooms and excellent staff.
The ability to access food and leave with a hearty breakfast is what is expected and what, in the past, has been delivered.
This time we had difficulty getting an evening meal in the "Hop-pickers" as it was commandeered by a coach party staying at the hotel. The bar staff were very polite and agreed to serve us, as long as we vacated our table by 7pm. Food was good but time pressure was unacceptable after a 350 mile drive.
Breakfast was not acceptable. Again, we believe, due to the pressure of dealing with 2 coach parties and lack of an appropriate number of staff.
My wife's food from the buffet was cold or lukewarm. The go and get your own coffee from a "station" signifies a real drop in standards especially when the "station" had no cups or saucers. These were supplied on request by an apologetic, polite but obviously overworked waitress.
If this had been our first visit we would not been returning.
We paid extra for breakfast - and feel hard done by.
As a Rewards Club Member I was entitled to free wifi. This was accessible in reception but not in room 118. Also Radio 4 was not accessible in the room when we arrived.
The staff throughout were delightful and helpful but standards are dropping at this 3* hotel.
