Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Dated Property-Avoid The friendly staff and decent location cannot make up for dirty, frayed carpeting in hallways, smudged walls, non-functioning elevator and overall dingy appeareance of this property. You can do better for the money. 23 January 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location and views of Austin The hotel had many good qualities and a couple that were unexpected. Staff was friendly, helpful and always willing to help. Room was clean, bed comfortable, AC worked ok. Everything in the room functioned well. Downside....we had a 12th floor and only one f the two elevators worked. Lines formed in the lobby to get on but it was large enough to get most everyone in. Sunday morning we woke and had no hot water. We called to the front desk and they said a problem was just fixed which basically impacted the entire hotel. She said about 10-15 minutes and it should hot. Well 30 minutes later and just starting to get warm...we ended up having to take a relatively cool shower since we had to get going. The staff provided some compensation to us for the problems in the way of points which was not expected but very much appreciated. Stuff like this happens and actually the staff were apologetic and helpful. We will definitely stay here again! 22 January 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very Convenient Location This hotel is nothing crazy fancy but it's a nice place to stay that is located close to many attractions. You can walk to 6th street, Rainy st and South Congress St is just a short drive away. There are plenty of food and entertainment options located near the hotel. It is also located right along the river which offers a beautiful path for talking or running. Very safe area. 21 January 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Overall Experience Excellent staff in every department (front desk, housekeeping, restaurant.) Nice clean rooms. Only drawbacks: *It is an older property. (though fairly well maintained) *Lack of in room entertainment. Small TV's, no on demand movies, and only an alarm clock. Something to plug my Ipod into would have been great. Other than that no complaints. Excellent value for the money spent. 14 January 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pretty in Austin We traveled to Austin for New Years 2015 and totally enjoyed our stay - from fancy lobby, open bar, easy access from parking garage and to our local destinations! This hotel has updated room (great beds and pillows) and bath - hot water on demand and we appreciated the great views of town lake too (and the college rowing teams staying at the hotel and rowing on the lake past our view)! Will look for Holiday Inn's everywhere we travel!! 14 January 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stay I enjoyed staying here thoroughly and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice view and friendly staff. 06 January 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Christmas Vacation The Holiday Inn Austin Town Lake is well situated next to I-35. The West tower has a better view of the river and the lake and noise from the highway was minimal. A walking/jogging path winds along the river right outside the hotel. We had a spacious room corner but as far as Inns go, it's a bit old and needs to be spruced up. The gym for example has a nice view of the river but the broken blinds obscure the view. The restaurant was closed for dinner on December 24th and all day on the 25th leaving the guests to fend for themselves. Breakfast service was so poor on December 26th that the breakfast was comped. Overall an acceptable inn and we enjoyed our stay. 02 January 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Welcoming Lobby Area, pleasant service at Check-In I was pleasantly surprise with the quality of the hotel. Most things as I previously mentioned exceeded my expectations. There was a very nice bar area which is seldom seen in the Holiday Inn hotels. Unfortunately, the bar was closed much too early on a weekend especially during a fairly busy time of the year. The bar attendant was not very pleasant either when asked about the bar hours. Although I received a special rate for the hotel stay, I was a little disappointed that the view outside my bedroom window was very unsightly. I was staring at the top of the roof of another part of the hotel and the site was very unpleasant. I could suggest maybe covering that part with a tarpaulin or something that mask the mildew and pipes, etc. I'm sure somebody could come up with some inexpensive and creative method to disguise that area.. I still insist that overall my experience a that resort was excellent.. 02 January 2015
