Breakfast staff very attentive and helpful -excellent breakfast. A little surprised at additional parking charge although at £3 not excessive. 09 January 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Business stay made confortable Staying away on business is always a requirement to the job and often this goes hand in hand with another chain of hotels to accommodate that need. The Holiday Inn at Bexley is another chain and is on the surface that same corporate brand. However the staff at the Bexley Holiday Inn are a fantastic mix of people who go that one step further each stay to ensure that you have the best stay that you can. They are flexible, polite and nothing is ever too much trouble. On the whole the Holiday Inn at Bexley is a "Holiday Inn" like so many others but this one has some hidden gems within that staff team. 07 January 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice stay The bed wasn't the most comfortable as it was very wobbly and felt like I was going to fall out. Asked for iron and board was brung up within minutes of asking. Someone always around. Nice breakfast, a little cold but most loveliest breakfast ever had! 04 January 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Xmas visiting family We chose to stay here as we were visiting family for Xmas Day and Boxing Day and location was very convenient. Overall OK but bed very hard and duvet did not cover us both!!! Breakfast good, they had run out of bacon, brown bread and croissants at 9.15 and we had to wait for about 10 minutes for these to be replenished. We were poured one cup of coffee, then had to ask for a second cup, then waited 5 minutes for that to arrive! All in all though, it was good value and would stay again, if beds and bedding were upgraded. 30 December 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by That little bit extra We stayed at the Hotel in Bexley on Xmas night for just one night. We had phoned the week before to ask if it would be possible to check in earlier than the time stated as we were driving up from Dorset that morning then were expected at a different location for christmas lunch and family gathering. We were advised that this would be probably be ok and a note was put on our booking. When we did arrive we found the staff very friendly and were well aware that we were checking in early. We were dealt with in a very professional manner and within a few minutes of arriving we were dropping our bags into the room etc. we found the room clean and tidy and our children were over the moon with the extra touch of a selection box on their pillows. On our return in the evening we enjoyed a quiet and very comfortable nights sleep and were well rested when we got up after a long eventful day. Overall our experience at the hotel was very good but the only thing which we felt let it down was the cost of the car parking for one night at £15. A bit steep for such a short stay. 29 December 2013

The staff were all so friendly, they and the hotel looked tastefully festive and the atmosphere was excellent. My children loved the little touches like the small gift they found in the bedrooms, the notice on the bar offering Santa snacks and the hot drink and mince pies that greeted us on reception Thank you to Stephen and his very capable team, you all deserve a huge thank you for your efforts 29 December 2013

Upon check in I was given a smoking room which made me feel sick with the stale stench, as I unpacked to settle in, a noise outside the window became apparent. I tried to open 1 window and it was sealed shut, the other was jammed slightly open and couldn't be opened or closed. There was a distinct December breeze flowing in. The noise can only be described as a cat playing in a cat flap whenever the wind blew. Every 2-3 minutes the noise repeated. Upon notifying reception they sent me housekeeping, who also couldn't open the window or identify the noise. After contacting reception again I was told there were no other rooms, no maintenance and the duty manager would be informed. 20 minutes later I called down ( I was due out in 40 mins and hadn't been able to shower waiting for management) I was told they would be along but were busy at the time. They never came. I was late, stinking of stale smoke and going crazy at the noise. When I returned at 12:30 am the noise was still there... Loud in the wind. Finally after failing to get reception again I checked out at 2am furious not having been able to sleep. Never have I experience such infuriating disregard for guests. Reception staff are always bright and cheerful and rooms are clean, warm and have a comfortable king size bed. Never had breakfast there so no idea what the food is like. We stay here as its very convenient to get into The West End, the train from Bexley Village is non stop straight into Charing X Leicester Square, Soho, Theatres etc, takes around 30 mins and costs about £9 return. 17 December 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Enjoyable Experience We booked a suite and were very pleased with the size, cleanliness of the room. The room had everything we might have needed for our stay. The staff that were working on the night of our stay were helpful, knowledgable and friendly (Jessica on reception and Cameron and Tiffany in the bar/restaurant) they really made our stay enjoyable. We would definitely stay at the bexley holiday inn again and would reccomend it to anyone for business or pleasure. 06 December 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Everything you need This hotel is ideally located for visiting London and the South East, being right beside the main A2 and not far to a mainline rail station. Despite its location right next to the busy road, traffic noise is not a problem in most of the rooms. The hotel is clean and tidy and the bar and reception areas are bright, modern colours and all the staff we came into contact with were friendly and helpful. The only downside was that the hotel was pretty full with a wedding, so we had an accessible room on the ground floor which was twin beds rather than a double. I had requested an upgrade, but this wasn't available. Other than that, everything was perfect. 04 December 2013

The room was very comfortable and easily accomadated the 3 of us. the beds were very comfortable and we all slept well. The staff were very attentive and helpful and the breakfast was terrific. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 shame about restaurant service Good value but the service in the evening was poor. We had booked first night dinner special offer and some friends joined us. We did not have any cutlery and had to ask for some. One guest asked for steak well done but it was medium at best. Sauce ordered for steak but had to ask as did not receive. Ordered desserts and coffee but they had not arrived after 40 minutes so again had to ask where they were.obviously they had been forgotten. Staff seemed unsure how to account for the £18 per person allowance we had due to us booking the special offer. A shame we had to pay extra to park too. On the good side, the room was very cleam and comfortable and breakfast selectoon very good indeed. 21 November 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looking forward to next visit We have stayed at this hotel several times now. It provides an ideal base to explore London and the surrounding area. We use it to visit the O2 arena, and for family that are nearby. A bus from nearby 132, every twelve minutes will get you there and back I always maintain that the first greeting you get at any hotel sets the tone of the premises, and is as always driven by the management team, well Sophia excelled herself in all aspects. It is always nice to see several staff members who have been there a number of years, again an indicator of stability, Susan in the restaurant must be one of the longer serving people. Staff that are often in the background, but are a vital part of the team, as they area the ones that take care of the room was provided by Andrej, apologies if I have spelt it wrong, she was both friendly and very courteous, often you never meet them! Special thanks to Christine, her care of the clients is second to none. The hotel manager has a team to be proud of. 13 November 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fit for purpose. The hotel and my room were entirely fit for purpose. The staff were good natured and helpful, the room service excellent, the room clean and the beds comfortable. I ate breakfast and dinner twice. Breakfast was a buffet and plentiful, if no more than adequate in cooking (the bacon was cheap and swimming in white preservative; the eggs overcooked from lying too long on the heat tray). Dinner was similarly adequate, steak one night (tough) and pie the next ( a mess of soggy pastry). But sufficient for the purpose. Both struck me as over priced. My overall reaction to this, my first stay at a Holiday Inn, was good but overpriced by perhaps 1/3rd. And why then load a £3.00 overnight parking charge? A small sum but why charge it at all? 10 November 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Expensive for the experience An overall average stay at the hotel. Hotel was looking very dated inside, especially the rooms. For the price paid we felt it was expensive for the quality received. Service for a snack and drink in the afternoon in the bar was very slow and after being told my choice of food was available, I was then told it wasn't available so after making a second choice we waited quite a while for cakes to arrive. Also the price of a Starbucks coffee was more expensive that what you would pay in a Starbucks in London! Was Ok for one night stay but expensive for the standard received. 02 November 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good location & comfortable room Room was very comfortable and hotel appeared very clean and tidy. We did not eat in the restaurant as not open until 6pm and we were going out at 6.30 so walked into Bexley to a local pub which was very nice and not too far at all. The buffet breakfast was OK but rather expensive at £16.95 if you had not pre-booked so would recommend booking room with breakfast included as we had done otherwise I think we would have gone home hungry! We were disappointed when we returned to the hotel just after midnight wanting a final drink to find the bar closed - a staff member said that they could serve guests if we had swiped a card at reception for 'extras' which we had not - expecting to pay for any drinks we had. They then said that we could go into the function room to get a drink - there was a wedding reception party in full swing in there, I know that I would be annoyed if people gate crashed my party and I felt that this was not appropriate so we went to bed instead. Checking in and out was quick and friendly and would certainly stay here again in the future - but would bring my own 'nightcap'! 10 October 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Good hotel but, poor staff experience Room looks tired from a decor point of view. In the morning the full ground floor of the hotel was full of bikes, all over the pace. I arrived around 9.30pm but, tried to use room service to order a sandwich at 9.50pm but told to call back in ten minutes as the service was closing n 10-15 minutes, I was to contact the reception desk....... This is a IHG hotel in will never stay in again. 11 September 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by London - Bexley Fine, comfortable hotel. Good location and welcoming staff. Good value for money. Is well maintained, clean and tidy and represents good value for money. Other Holiday Inn premises, especially some of those in central London ( Oxford Circus ) should come and see how a decent hotel is maintained and run. I've stayed here on several occasions and will stay here again. Only 2 negatives: restaurant menu was average (no salad main courses and had run out of lamb chops) and there was a fully decorated Christmas tree in the lobby! 06 September 2013

Bedroom * Double room, one chair? * No HI notepad or pen? * No Hilden water – usually provided to PC guests? * No disposable face “cloths” [standard in HI Express] * No biscuits on the courtesy tray – or has the standard changed? * No courtesy email facility – one hour free per day at Theatreland; free in the lobby of the HI Express in Greenock! And free in the hotel local to my office where the tariff is less than I paid on Monday! I am aware of the ongoing change but frankly this is neither fast enough nor fair! Wi-fi access is available in most coffee chains now, and even our local bus service offers free wi-fi!! It is a disgrace that Holiday Inn does not nor apparently has a standardised policy on the provision of complimentary wi-fi. * No Guest Comment Card [at least not immediately visible]. 2. Restaurant * Dinner – see below. * Breakfast – compared to Theatreland, a travesty! i.No grapefruit juice – the orange juice was ‘cheap and not cheerful’; ii.No bananas; iii.Only one milk albeit soya available on request; iv.No fruit yoghurt – only plain and fruit in a very sweet, syrupy sauce; v.Rationed coffee. 3. Dinner Accepting that it was a Bank Holiday and the Restaurant was closed, there can be no excuse for: * Lasagne that resembled the Dolmio advert! A slab of pasta interspersed with meat – no offer of Parmesan; surely it is not beyond the capability of the kitchen to prepare this in individual baking dishes for subsequent reheating? * The “salad” consisted of less than a handful of dried lettuce leaves; what happened to the sauce, tomatoes etc? * The garlic bread was well-crunchy. On a positive note, the Receptionists were a credit to the team – re-allocating my room and determining my local transport needs [given the cost of accessing the hotel’s wi-fi system], and in the morning offering to credit the meal albeit that this should not have been necessary in the first place and which gesture was declined, and making every effort to ensure I left a “happy” guest. “Our promise is that we will genuinely do all we can to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible” – sorry, but in my case this was as far removed as is possible! 31 August 2013
