Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by jacky3 not a typical holiday inn
I was only for one night in the hotel but enjoyed the nice food in the restaurant, the very charming desk reception people and the correct breakfast.
the rooms are okay but smaller as I'm used in holiday inn hotels. anyhow big enough to relax and sleep well.
maybe missing a lift in case you have some heavy luggage as this is a typical british hotel with many corridors, a lot of doors to pass and a labyrinth to find your room.
Nice hotel with charm and quiet environment.

We had a great wedding day.
The staff looked after us before, during and after to make our wedding special. We had lots of family and friends stay over and we were looked after with spacious, comfy rooms. They also made sure all the rooms were ready to allow for those who travelled to the hotel on the day of the wedding.
The food was excellent on the day of the wedding and also breakfast was superb with lots of choice.
i would recommend this hotel as a great place for leisure or business trips and especially as a wedding venue.

Especially a young man named George, who worked long hours and nothing was too much trouble.

This hotel is set in a picturesque setting with a very attractive old building. The staff throughout our stay were friendly, smiling all the time and could not do enough to make our stay as perfect as possible.
Unfortunately the hotel interior is in need of some attention, there are lots of big holes in the corridor carpets and the chairs in the dinning room have vinyl seats which are scraped back to the backing with no colour showing, gives a very scruffy appearance. We had problems in our bathroom where the shower could not be turned on so had to run a bath instead and the radiator in the bedroom did not work which was not good for our January stay as we were frozen all night. The bed comprised of two beds pushed together and unfortunately one bed was significantly higher than the other which was rather strange.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by DGC1 In severe need of upgrading
The hotel is in a quiet area and could be a great place to stay if in the area. However the décor in the bedroom was very old and dated. Grout in the bathroom was black in several places, wood was chipped and the skirting board broken.
The reception was not welcoming and there was no recognition of my membership until I asked about any upgrade which was met with an immediate no.
After an excellent stay in the Crowne Plaza in Harrogate the night before and the Holiday Inn Express near Preston the night after this was a very disappointing erxperience.
Recommended for stay but with reservations

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Coton couple. Beyond the call of duty.
Everything about the stay of my wife and I (both aged 80) was five -star excellence and the whole staff went way beyond the call of duty to make our stay a truly memorable experience.
