Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Good location, poor staff The hotel has the potential to be a great place to stay however we had the unfortunate timing to be there during some awful TOWIE themed evening which meant they were running the halls all night making a horrific noise which the staff did nothing about so our entire party trying to sleep before a wedding the next day (including the groom) had at best 5 hours sleep. On top of this the air con unit in our room did not work and despite promises that evening and in the morning no one came to fix it and it was incredibly warm and stuffy. The pillows on the bed felt very cheap and thin, the bathroom needs up dating and a deep clean but overall the room was clean. Breakfast would have been nice had the air con not been on full blast meaning all the food was cold and the breakfast host looked like he had been dressed by a child. Milk was served in a mug because they had run out of milk jugs so every time we tried to pour the milk it went everywhere. Very disappointing experience, the only saving grace at this hotel was the barman who was excellent. The pool looked nice but we didn't have time to use it. October 6, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Celebrated Our Wedding Day Here 11th September When my husband and I started looking for a venue for our wedding I would suggest neither of us even thought of the Holiday Inn as a potential location as we had never heard of them doing weddings. However upon seeing how much other venues were charging extra simply because they were a well known Wedding Venue I was determined to look around and see what I could get for my hard earned cash to make our wedding day as special as possible but also get as much as we could for our money. With that in mind we attended a meeting at the holiday inn with Stacy from the Events and meetings team. I already knew in my mind what I pretty much wanted as did my husband and it was refreshing to spend quality time speaking to Stacy who was knowledgeable, professional and able to provide us with plenty of options and yet also able to not make us feel as if she had taken ownership of our special day. We arranged everything to our own specifications and used the hotels suppliers for the majority of the things we needed for the day which not only made it easier for us but also meant that people who know the layout of the hotel and how best to make it look perfect were used. Upon arrival to the hotel on the day I was panicking so much and stressed due to some last minute issues but Stacy was there to welcome me and I have to say I was completely blown away by how utterly gorgeous the room looked all done up. The ceremony was truly beautiful in such a lovely aviary made to look so special for us both. The staff guided us both through every step with ease and made us feel so special and appreciated I was so happy. After the ceremony as it was a lovely day they put the bucks fizz and sandwhiches outside by the garden and chairs and everyone enjoyed drinking and eating in the sun whilst the photographer took the obligatory shots. We were welcomed into the reception room by Efram (Apologies if I got this spelling wrong) who was such a polite and efficient front of house manager. He announced us to our guests and ensured that all the tables got their food and drink speedily and without any chaos or fuss. The food was delicious, piping hot and plentiful and everyone commented how lovely it was to have a substantial meal at a wedding. We had a guitarist and professional singer during the day and a photo booth and sweet table which I arranged myself and they accomodated all of this for us with no issue whatsoever. The bar was open all day for us and we even extended the bar till 0130 in the morning and the DJ till 0200 meaning everyone got to dance the night away with us. They did some huge sausage and bacon rolls and vegetarian sausage rolls for us in the evening as a top up for our guests at a reasonable price and they were absolutely lush. The DJ provided by the hotel was fantastic and everyone had so much fun dancing away till the early hours. The management and catering staff and bar staff could not have worked harder for us and it was truly appreciated from the bottom of my heart as it meant our day was that much more special. Maybe it's because they are not a wedding venue traditionally that they make the extra effort but whatever the reason I am thankful for it as they could not have done anything more for us on the day that could have made it any more perfect. We stayed overnight and the rooms were extremely comfortable and clean and the spa facilities the next day was enjoyed by our guests who stayed overnight as was the breakfast which we all needed after plenty of alcohol the night before!!! The man on the desk in the spa area was quite abrupt and said we were not allowed to use the spa after checkout despite it being all arranged months in advance that we would be allowed and he was quite rude to some of my guests which did upset me but I went down there myself and asked him to speak to reception immediately and they rectified the situation straight away for us and reception apologised for his behaviour and was genuinely embarassed that he had spoken to our guests in such a fashion. There was one small matter that was not exactly as I wanted it during the wedding and they rectified it immediately for me and also made it up to us and went above and beyond to make sure our day was not ruined and I didn't know whether to mention it or not in this review as I didn't want to make them sound bad but I think it's also important to show how even when something was not 100% right their efforts to correct it and make it up to us were second to none and that is what anyone could want from a venue on their wedding day surely no? Anyway I will stop boring you all now with my ramblings but honestly if anyone looking for a wedding venue comes here and reads this hopefully it will inspire them to not dismiss the Holiday Inn because they surpassed not just mine but my family and guests expectations 1000% and I thank you all for everything that you done and hope that you pass on my thanks to everyone who was there on the day for their efforts, their warm friendly smiles and their professionallism throughout. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NOISE NOISE NOISE - OUT OF CONTROL Booked in for a quite night with my wife in an executive suite. Had dinner in the restaurant next to the lounge which was swamped with screaming children crawling around the floors, armchairs adrift all over the place, babies nappies being changed on the floor right in the walkway between restaurant access and the lounge. After dinner my wife and I went to sit in the lounge but every table was dirty with used glasses, dirty coffee cups napkins etc. We immediately moved to the lounge area next to the reception desk and sat up on a long poser table that looked like it had been wiped clean with a dirty tea towel. My wife and I decided to head outside for a cigarette and found the outside porch lights still off. Smoked quickly in the dark and headed back to our table. Looking around, the hotel resembled a zoo, noisy and out of control and understaffed. We had one drink and called it a day and went up to our room. From this point on the evening got worse. From 11pm onwards we were disturbed by groups of drunken women singing along the corridors until 2.30am. At 3.30am a man spent 45 minutes banging on his room door. It was so loud that initially we thought it was our door he was banging on. From 4.15am we were then subjected to an hour or so of noise and singing from two large groups of people outside in the car park right under our window. All of this equalled zero sleep. On getting up exhausted we got dressed and checked out. In reply to how our stay was, I explained to the receptionist all of the above and that on top of this we had no desire to stay here any longer and as such would be skipping breakfast too. The receptionist apologised and took off the cost of the room and charged us only for our food and drink, £90!!!! Considering the condition under which we had to eat and drink, in my view we should have been offered a full 100% discount. I'm not sure what this hotel is like in the midweek but at the weekend, AVOID at all costs. September 23, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Really friendly staff We have stayed at Brentwood several times now and are always pleased with the overall experience, which meets the expectations we have of a hotel in this price bracket. Good leisure facilities available and staff always lovely, from the front desk to the cheerful waiting staff at breakfast.Food available at breakfast is really good. Our only issue would be that some of the guests can be noisy at unsociable times, but our stays always incorporate weekends and people are obviously partying. September 22, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bad Service Check in was slow, not recognised as an IHG Spire member, not asked if I wanted extra bonus points or drink voucher. Asked for extra milk, tipd it was going to be brought to room which was forgotten about. Previous guest's swimsuit was left hanging in wardrobe, clearly the room wasn't cleaned properly. Key card had to get reprogrammed after the first night, huge queue & slow service for that. As a frequent guest I noticed breakfast was poor for the week, lack of fresh fruit. September 20, 2015
