Whilst the room was the expected standard, we were very disappointed with the restaurant. At dinner the lighting was so bad we needed out phone torch to read the menu. Breakfast was dreadful! Whilst the food was good, the service was awful. The table, which was set up for us while we waited had items of cutlery missing. The staff all appeared to be in a state of panic throughout. When I requested glasses for the orange juice, we had to wait whilst they were washed and then semi cooled under the cold tap. The staff seemed totally unprepared for the breakfast rush. And the restaurant carpet was disgustingly dirty!!!

Staying one night.
Negatives:-If you don't know the area the Hotel is not signed well and not easy to travel from in the direction of Chester.
The room was very dusty.
Staff and quests smoke directly outside under the covered entrance forcing you to walk through the smoke. This is a problem that the manager needs to address.
Positives:- Bed and pillows very comfortable.
Staff were friendly, efficient and helpful.
Breakfast quality and variety very good with excellent service.

No air con working so 2 nights spent sleeping in a sauna, couldn't even open window as room above smoking bench. Bathroom dirty, breakfast quality very poor food and service a shambles.

This was our third stay.
The room was an executive room and very pleasant, but we found that the bed was very hard and, worst of all, the air conditioning unit did not work. With the high temperatures that we had, this was most uncomfortable.
The manager was very helpful but could only provide an electric fan, which was far from silent!
Opening windows was no great help because of the traffic noise!
Please remember our previous stay, when we found that someone had managed to enter our room and use the toilet without flushing it afterwards. Not a pleasant discovery when we arrived late in the evening! (See our previous report).
We shall continue to support you but things like this should be avoidable.

We had booked the room so we could visit chester zoo without the need to rush home. It was wonderful, the room was clean, the staff were not only friendly but helpful and the food was fantastic! we are looking at staying at this hotel again due to the experience we had and would recommend to family and friends

Efficient, helpful & friendly check-in by the reception supervisor, who provided lots of information & also printed directions to nearest Park&Ride for Chester.
Room on 2nd floor was very comfortable, but shower in bathroom was dreadful - more a dribble than a shower!
Unlimited free wi-fi greatly appreciated, something that other IHG hotels should offer!
Breakfast in the hotel was standard fare, but nonetheless tasty & well cooked.
We had dinner in the restaurant one night - a lot later than intended as the hotel was hosting a function and service was very slow, however the staff kept us informed of progress and it wasn't a problem. The food was OK - nicely presented, but not outstanding and the Cajun chicken salad required additional dressing to counter the dryness of the meat.
The staff seemed to work well together as a team and their friendly, helpful demeanour more than made up for the shortcomings experienced.

We found this to be great value for money. We has two small children travelling by car. We found the service excellent. The rooms were comfortable. We had both evening meal and breakfast which were great. Would recommend. Thanks.

two nights was long enough, however the bed was very comfortable- tv came out of the ark-- and breakfast i think had been cooked when noah made the ark. The food was cold and I asked the waiter when the temp.probe had been last used, he didnt know, the one breakfast was taken off the bill so we did not have any more food in the hotel. When we checked outthe bill was incorrect we were charged for four breakfasts when we only ordered two and we were credited for one also they charged us the price for Saturdays mail instead of Mondays..
Not a hotel I would wish to use again.

We've stayed here before and wanted to stay again with our daughters to take them to Chester Zoo. This hotel is perfect for our needs. The room was spotlessly clean and the beds were so comfortable we all slept really well.

I like to stay at the IHG group of hotels because they usually maintained to a consistent standard and if you visit a new hotel you have a good idea of what it will be like beforehand.
However in this case I was very disappointed with this hotel.
I thought it was a bit run down and could do with some TLC. The lounge is only small and the only table available to us was right in front of the Air Conditioning unit which was blowing out cold air.
We did take a bar meal and that was only average but could not stay in the lounge much longer because of the AC.
Bedroom was only average as the beds were too soft for our liking.
Do not think I will be back in a hurry.

We had a very noisy room on the first night as it was just above the generator fans and they make an awful noise all night.
Requested a room move and Rebecca who was the manager on duty moved us to another room. She was totally charming and an excellent member of staff. So thank you Rebecca.
The dining room staff were also very good.

Stayed at this Holiday Inn over the Easter weekend . On arrival the woman at reception was polite and friendly. Room was warm and comfortable, infact i needed to turn down the heating as it was a bit too warm. We [ myself, my wife and our 2 boys ] had 2 double beds, one was a bit soft but it didnt really matter. Our room was on the ground floor facing the car park and A55 main road but traffic noise was minimal.
We chose to include breakfast when we booked online and it is really good value, only gripe would be that the coffee was luke warm from the pot.
Having a McDonalds and Costa right next door was very useful and we made use of both.
To be honest the only negative comment i could make about this hotel is the fact that in order to travel east towards Chester you have to drive west for about 2 miles then return having left the A55 at the Flint exit but we already knew about this as we had stayed at this Holiday Inn last Easter.
There are just a couple of other minor moans. Firstly , the noise from people moving around in the room above was a bit annoying and it is about time the old tv sets were replaced with flat screen ones which should have full freeview.
To sum up , we all had a very enjoyable stay and would definitely return the next time we visit this part of the country.

Although we only stayed for one night on this occasion, it was the fifth time we have used this hotel when visiting North Wales, and we have never been disappointed. It is so convenient for both visiting areas of North Wales as well as Chester, yet at a far more reasonable cost than in Chester itself. The rooms are always spotless and the breakfast buffet is excellent value yet offers a very wide choice to suit all tastes.

On the positive side, the breakfast was excellent, it's cheaper if you book in advance and was very good value for money.
The staff were friendly and tried to be helpful most of the time. Our room was clean
However, our stay was ruined by a terrible bed. We were unable to both sleep in it as the "roll together" was so bad, in fact it was like a giant hole in the middle of the mattress. One of us had to sleep on the sofa, which was only slightly more comfortable than the bed. We did complain about the state of the bed when we first arrived in the hope we could be moved, but was told all of the hotel beds were the same!!!
The hotel lounge area is shabby, with dirty, worn out sofas and sticky tables - not a nice place to relax with a drink
We had only booked for one night, had we needed to stay longer we would have found another hotel. Will never stay here again

We had stayed at this hotel before, but this time we were very disappointed. The heating wasn't working in the room, the hotel had provided a heater but this took a long time to heat the room. They also provided an extra heater but this did not work. There were hairs in the sink, definately not ours. The duvet was lumpy and not adequate. The hotel feels well worn.

Stayed for just on night as my daughter was in a gymnastics competitiion in Queensferry the next morning (we had travelled from Newport in South Wales).
Hotel was very easy to find, sat right next to the dual carriageway.
Chester just a short drive away and well worth a visit.
Thought that noise would be a problem as our room looked out onto the road. But we didn't notice any and I'm a light sleeper.
The beds were comfy and there were plenty of blankets and pillows.
Bathroom was clean and tidy and well stocked with the essentials. Not enough towels for us but duty manager rectified immediately without a hesitation.
Shower was hot and powerful (how rarely do you get both?!)
Bar area friendly and informal. Drinks expensive but no surprise there.
Didn't try food as we arrived late and left early.

This has got to be the worst Holiday Inn I've stayed in. The Room was dark, with damp stains on the walls which they tried to cover up with the curtains and the heating was either too hot or too cold. No flat screen TV, which should be standard nowadays. Location however was good as the hotel is situated on a service station with 3/4 eating places including an American Diner which was good and the hotel offers free wi-fi unlike other Holiday Inn's but the hotel itself needs a facelift.

Stayed in the hotel last week for the first time in a long time, and I am glad to report that it has not lost any of its charm and is great hotel to relax after work with staff that go out of there way to help you.

We are an U12 boys football team and were playing at Wrexham and the experience from booking to leaving was outstanding. Firstly U12 children eat & sleep at no cost and the staff were courteous, professional and seemed genuinely interested in their customers.
It made the 250 mile round trip an experience as opposed to a parents footballing chore.

This hotel is clearly a former Holiday Inn Express - they have not bothered to change the crockery or serviettes - which has not really been upgraded to what I expect (as a platinum member and therefore a regular stayer) from a Holiday Inn.
There was no platinum recognition (I don't think there are any executive rooms to upgrade you to anyway#, not even a bottle of water, although at least the wifi was free.
The hotel sits in a service area on the westbound A55 so it is not easy to get to Chester from there, and it is not particularly scenic nor quiet.
The room furnishings are still Express quality, but at least the cost was not extortionate.
Breakfast was poor; a limited selection of cereals and fruit and the table had not been cleaned #rings from cups etc clearly visible) and staff appeared disinterested.
I won't be back

I stayed at this hotel from Friday 4/1/13 for 3 nights, I was working DAYS, 06:00---18:00 not once was my room cleaned, just a bag with 2 towels outside my room each time I came back from work, I DID NOT have my DND on the outside of my door, I complained on the Saturday night and nothing done, then again on the Sunday night, still nothing done, it looked like they were short staffed at the weekend, also the AC unit was not working, they put a small heater in the room, once I turned this heater on it was burning dust and not a nice smell, the food was excellent, also the staff were handing YELLOW cards out saying Don't bother, this vehicle has been emptied of all valuable items, I was told there has been a lot of vehicle break inns,
