Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Avoid I stayed here for 2 nights over a weekend recently. Both nights there were functions being held which seemed to mean that children would be running up and down corridors knocking on doors while their parents were enjoying themselves. On the first night, I was delighted to awoken at 3am by a loud, drunken conversation being carried outside my room. Not a great start to the stay, especially since I was due to be awake at 5 the following morning. On arriving back at the hotel early on the second evening, I could not get in my room as the key card had stopped working. I then walked to reception and queued behind 3 sets of guests checking in to the one member of staff on duty. I got a new keycard and went back to my room. The new key did not work either. So back to reception to queue again. In total it took 25 minutes from arriving back at the hotel to get into my room. The rooms themselves and hotel are tatty and the cleanliness is sketchy at best. I had booked the weekend on points - I would be more angry if I had actually parted with money for the experience. However when I checked my bill, I discovered that the hotel had charged me for accommodation that I had to ask to be removed. There must be better places to stay in Colchester, so if I were you I would use these and avoid this place. April 25, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Few issues but nice Hotel was comfortable and pleasant however the bar and restaurant is sub par, overpriced and pretty terrible meaning I normally eat away from the hotel or get a takeaway. The only reason for staying is business however it has impressed. April 25, 2016

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by OK stay but could nto use the pool Stayed at hotel with family but could not use pool as the hotel rent out the pool for a kids swimming club. If you are staying with kids who are looking forward to using the pool maybe best to check if the pool will be available. April 18, 2016

I even left my coat at the bar and he found out what room we were staying in and personally handed it back to us. look after him as he is a great asset to your business. April 8, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good value spa hotel Staff were very polite and friendly but restaurant seemed understaffed, service very slow. Buffet meal main course a bit disappointing. Starter and desert were good. Wine was very good. Not sure what the difference in rooms is... we paid extra but didn't see the benefits of this. Staff sorted out problems quickly and efficiently. Not possible to have windows open as train goes by very frequently! Spa was nice. Shame they use it for swimming lessons on Saturday morning. Not large enough for this and guest use and not large enough for the amount of guests. But nice facilities. Overall a pleasant stay. April 5, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn Colchester Excellent Friendly Staff, excellent food in the Resturant, sadly under used by the guests, and local community, a little expensive but on a par with Prezzo for value and quality. In the middle of upgrading bathrooms so builders noise during the day, but this ceases by 7 pm. Would recommend this hotel. April 4, 2016
