Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Staff issues , delays booking in delays ordering food or drink Has got to be one of the most un-managed hotels I have ever stayed in , priority check in which was 2pm could only get into our room at 3.30pm - so bad start but pool area great and organised . Dinner had to wait to be seated , I had to go get a waiter to take our order and then again for drinks . No one around and the food quality was not good at all , had to eat out the 2nd night . Complained to manager Craig after finding out room not even cleaned 2nd day to be told they have staff shortages - awaiting to hear back from hotel but I am not holding my breath May 29, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Old and understaffed The room was old. the power shower was rubbish, the hotel is understaffed, therefore the services in the bar was slow, the bar prices were excessive, there was rubbish left in our room, the services expected in an executive room were not there May 28, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not enough bar & restaurant staff The hotel was fully booked over the Whitsun weekend but there did not appear to be enough staff to provide a proper service for the bar and restaurant. Full marks though to those who worked extremely hard to keep it from being a disaster on the Sunday evening. Overall quality of our recent stays has slipped from previous visits. May 28, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Having stayed at the Colchester hotel many times over the years only shows that what they do is right. Its very nice with very polite and helpful staff, rooms are clean and in a great location next to A12 (but very silent). However, it is starting to be worn down. Especially around the common areas with, in some places, very worn down carpets etc. But this is a minor thing. May 13, 2015
