Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Outer Beauty, Inner Annoyances From the website, to your first steps into the lobby of this hotel, it is very impressive. There is a contemporary, artsy vibe up until check-in. As I walked through the door, there was a security guard and the desk agent having a conversation, and they didn't greet me or even smile. They actually looked like I was threatening, and coming to rob them or something. After I placed my ID and credit card on the table, they were then, welcoming to me. The problems started, as soon as we entered our room. It smelled like old, stale smoke. We had ordered a non-smoking room. We reported this and the desk was thoughtful enough to walk up a new room key for a fresher smelling room. We had a double room, which had double beds, not queens, and they were absolutely horrible. The beds creaked really loudly, and were just cheap and aged feeling. The beautiful bedding did not make up for the lacking quality of the bed, itself. In addition, the heating/air conditioning unit was straight out of a lower end motel experience. The AC unit was extremely loud all night, smelled of dust, and when I brushed up against it to open the blinds in the morning, the panel on the AC unit fell off and a cloud of dust poofed in my face. The hotel store did not appear to be open at all, during our stay. We got back to the room late, and were hungry, and room service ended at 10 PM, which I think is early, especially on a Saturday night. This hotel is not near any restaurants or grocery stores, so we decided to go to the vending machine for snacks. The snacks were reasonably priced, however, I walked to 3 floors and every soda machine was out of Sprite, my drink of choice. We opted to have breakfast included in our rate and the restaurant, which initially acted like we were lying about having it in our rate, told us to go and get a coupon at the front desk. It would have been nice if the front desk had given us those breakfast tickets at check-in. The breakfast buffet was fresh, and delicious, and having it included in our rate was actually a very good deal. Breakfast was the highlight of our stay and the awful beds were the significant, down side of our stay. If the beds were good, I could have easily given my stay 3-4 stars. This stay felt slightly overpriced, given our experience. 26 February 2015
