Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Val and Mike's stay friendly efficient staff even when busy, comfortable seating but could do with a few higher seats for disabled guests in bar lounge area Friendly attentive service, excellent value for money, my best recommendation is will stay again Val Hughes 01 September 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by comfortable room I enjoyed staying at this hotel which I will be doing quite regularly in the future The Asian restaurant was good but I found the bar prices expensive 01 September 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor value for money The building is oldish, facilities are not up to date and you have to pay both for a cappuccino at breakfast and for the wi-fi connection. And they are not cheap. The room as well was below expectations, with some pieces of furniture that were broken and no strongbox and frigo-bar available. 31 August 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by First Time Ecperience is good We stayed at the hotel as this is next to the zoo. Excellent location for the city centre as buses stop just outside, all details supplied by the excellent reception staff - thanks you were very helpful.. We were slightly disappointed with the bed as it seemed to sink in the middle so we just rolled together. We didn't sleep that well either. We also, as this was our first experience at the hotel as we had paid for the evening meal, didn't know how the voucher works for the dinner. After a bit of confusion, we settled for the carvery and were very disappointed in this and put this down to our lack of experience. However, the breakfast was spot on. Loved the haggis - a first time for me. Was left full to the top which set me up for the day. The family tucked in too and all enjoyed breakfast. Lots to choose from. The swimming pool was great and my daughter had a great time. Check out was simple and the staff very friendly. All in all, I would highly recommend staying here - just please change the mattress! 30 August 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Much Improved Was concerned on arrival that the crowd of people from the bus outside would mean a long wait, but was checked in immediately. Staff were as friendly and helpful as it was possible to be and took time out to advise on where to go out in Edinburgh. In- room breakfast was great and good value. A perfect stay. 30 August 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn, Edinburgh Even though we checked in (very) early the hotel did everything it could to accommodate ourselves with two tired young children. The hotel was friendly, breakfast was excellent but we found the evening menu a little limited and a bit pricey. Everybody had a smile and passed the time of day and we would recommend to all, whether business or pleasure. 27 August 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Och aye! Our stay at the Holiday Inn (Corstorphine Road) was a very pleasurable experience made better by the welcoming, friendly staff whether at reception, in the dining area or room services. Great choice at breakfast, although it was dificult sometimes for the staff to keep stock of all items at peak times. Some guests do love a croissant or 2! The hotel is situated very conveniently for a plethora of buses to shuttle you into and out of the city centre (24/7). Bus stops are right outside and rarely a wait. Princes St is less than 15 mins commute at busy times. It's worth paying the £3.50 for a day ticket, as it's £3 for a return anyway. NB. Highly recommend this hotel if you are coming up for the rugby at Murrayfield, which is in walking distance. Overall, our party of 5 in 2 rooms (Grannie, mum 26 August 2014

22 August 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Enjoyed our stay My husband, Granddaughter and I stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed our time here, staff were excellent, breakfast was great, good selection never had to wait for a table, had dinner 2 nights service was very good ate out the other three nights in town. Rooms were comfortable just as we expected would certainly consider staying here again. 19 August 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A pleasant return Having stayed at this hotel with my children a few years ago I was pleased to enjoy a pleasant return. They enjoyed the swimming pool, the view at breakfast and their big double bed, while I was most impressed by the customer service at reception. We shall return. 19 August 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Enjoyable stay We stayed at this hotel so we could visit Edinburgh Zoo the next day. The swimming pool was good although quite small, great for my 7 year old who could touch the bottom of the pool (same depth all along). We ate in the the bar/lounge and had a good meal. On a Sunday you can also have the carvary which we didn't want. We also had a lovely breakfast, plenty of choice and well cooked. On leaving we were able to leave our car in the car park and walk to the zoo which was great! 19 August 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nothing for Tourists Make sure you have everything figured out before you decide to stay at this hotel. They do not provide any information for tourists...things to do, how to get around town, etc. The rooms are comfortable and we received good service in the restaurant and bar but the front desk was not helpful at all. There is no information provided and when we asked questions we were actually given bad/wrong information. Because this hotel is located outside of the city it made it more difficult for us to figure out how to get to places and actually what to go see. Edinburgh is a beautiful city and we would definitely go back to Scotland but would not stay here again. 17 August 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Definitely use again Stayed in this Holiday Inn with our 2 Grandchildren.Great hotel would recommend.the only problem we did find was that the room became very warm with 4 people sleeping in it.e did use the airconditioning but a bit noisy. The breakfast was the best we have had at any Holiday inn. 15 August 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great value, great location, friendly staff The hotel provides everything you need, the rooms are nice and the staff friendly and it is nice to take a swim after a day in the city. The location is perfect right next to the zoo, buses can be caught in front of the hotel. We liked the Chinese restaurant with a nice view, the buffet is ok, suffers a bit from group tourists who come in hords and overcrowed the lower part of the restaurant. Perfect that private hotel guests can sit separately from groups. 15 August 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good delivery, helpful location Caters for mostly tourist with bus stops nearby and next to the zoo. Bathroom seems a bit tired but worked well. Breakfast could benefit from some yoghurt and more bread options. 13 August 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Enjoyable Stay Had a lovely stay at Edinburgh Holiday Inn - We arrived after getting an early morning train and the gentleman on reception checked us straight in to our room - which was extremely helpful with a 2-year old. Our main purpose in Edinburgh was to see the Zoo and you cant get much closer than this hotel (right on the doorstap) - because we had booked the Panda Package we were able to fast-track the queue and get in straight away (we avoided an hours wait if you didnt have a pre-paid ticket). However if you wanted to get in to the city centre its a 20 minute bus journey and buses run late in to the night. The pool is excellent as is the Spa/Gym facilities All staff are helpful, friendly and politie and provide an excellent service. I believe the hotel was fully booked - and had a number of large tour groups - you wouldnt have known that re-the service as it was impecable. Both cleaning staff, breakfast staff and check in staff, treat us 'one-nighters' the same as the larger parties. Food at the hotel is a bit pricey but well worth it - and the breakfast selection is a great variation for all tastes. We will definately be visiting Edinburgh again next year and this hotel will be the firsat point of call. 13 August 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely break Great location, hotel and service. Staff were helpful and polite. We will definitely stay here again. 11 August 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by cheerful hotel that does the job in style the most striking thing about the holiday inn Edinburgh is the good humour of the staff, they are bright and enthusiastic and helpful. the hotel has a massive job to do and does it well , indeed better than any large hotel i've ever encountered. the rooms are clean, well lit, well darkened, important in a northern summer, and well plumbed. the amenities are excellent and easy to access, especially the pool, and the wifi. the food at dinner was fine enough, but the breakfast was excellent. the views while eating are marvellous. the hotel isn't brand new but, we were conscious the whole time of the policy and the staff striving to make it a great experience for guests, which it was. the location has so many opportunities to explore and we haven't done the half of them, we'll certainly be returning. 11 August 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Pricey hotel We did not have a good experience with this hotel. First, we were in an end room on the top floor. Next, we were given wrong times for the zoo much to our disappointment. We didn't have enough pillows or towels. Overall, we did not get the fine service that we had received at all the other holiday inns we stayed at. I would not re moment this hotel at all. 09 August 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good location but overpriced The festival and the 2014 Games allowed Holiday Inn to charge a very high price for this stay. The large number of staff range from friendly and helpful to rude and disorganised. Room quality and size is OK, avoid anything above the hotel entrance with regular coach movement and smokers noise below. Prices for food and drink in the hotel are at the high end. Access to attractions- zoo next door and public transport to the city is good. 09 August 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable stay Ndovi exceptional service A brilliant stay with exceptional services from the staff. They went out of their way to find information for us and make our stay unforgettable! 06 August 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ideal for Relaxing Break with Grand Kids We stayed at this Hotel for its Location next to the Zoo, and this was ideal for the short family break that we planned. The Hotel is looking a little bit tired, due to its age, but this cannot be said for the Staff. All the staff offered 5 star services during our stay. This is quite a Large Hotel, and was almost full during our stay, the staff in the Restaurant ensured that the service was kept to a high standard at both breakfast 05 August 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Expensive WIFI Overall our stay was enjoyable, however I was very disappointed at having to pay 3.95 per hour for WIFI. This had been free at our stay at the Hilton in Aviemore the day before. The "discretionary service charge" in the restaurant is also a bit much when the prices of food and drink are already very high. I am aware now that I could have asked not to pay this, however at the time this was not clear. For a young family, these extra charges are a bid deal when we were trying to holiday on a budget. I have looked at other reviews online and there were promises of WIFI charges disappearing on the 1st July, however this obviously hasn't happened and guests should not have to join a special club to be exempt from this. Cleanliness was good and staff were friendly. 04 August 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great stay in edinburgh Friendly, helpful staff. Well equipped rooms, clean and tidy. Good choice of food for breakfast. Hotel was well placed for easy access to city centre and buses. Good value for money. 03 August 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing staff Staff here were incredible. I have been trained a lot in customer service and appreciate the level the Holiday Inn staff go to to make your stay more comfortable. If I had to moan about anything it would be how long the check in is when busy compared to other hotel chains. The room was fantastic and the restaurant was superb although the breakfast could have been hotter. I would have no hesitation at all in staying here again or recommending this hotel to others. 02 August 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great for a short stop over This hotel delivers on comfort and serves good food. Executive rooms are well equipped although the bathrooms need to be upgraded. Rooms are noisey. Not ideal if you are a light sleeper. Otherwise close to the centre, zoo and airport. Reasonable cost. Take advantage of after 3pm 50% discount at the zoo as zoo not worth the full price. 31 July 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Got there eventiually We had booked a family room, when we arrived there was no extra bed prepared, as it was so busy I went to reception who sent someone with sheets etc. The room was unbearably hot-we couldn't resolve this so another trip to reception who sent a man to repair the air conditioning-couldn't do this so we eventually moved rooms. There was a mix up with the voucher system for our evening meal. A young lady did take all this on board and rectified everything-so thanks to her, however the lack of bed making and a room not being suitable to sleep in should have been raised prior to us booking in. The room we moves to was great-a good night sleep, so eventually it all worked out, 31 July 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Visited the hotel after a very long time It was called the Forte Posthouse back in 1999 and it was also my home for eleven long months. So this time when I got another chance to travel to Edinburgh, I wanted to revisit the hotel which by now had been rechristened as the Holiday Inn Edinburgh. The welcome was warm and I was pleasantly surprised to notice that barring the changes to the colour scheme and the addition of a swimming pool and gym the hotel layout insides had not changed very much. The name of the Chinese restaurant Sampans had remained the same through the years. A friendly hotel and its proximity to the Edinburgh Zoo should certainly make it an attraction for families with small children. Guests at the hotel get a 50% off on their entry tickets to the zoo on all days after 3 PM. Overall, I am glad I could come back to the hotel that brought back very fond memories from the previous millennium. I was pleasantly surprised that a lady at the front desk named Nicola still served at the hotel from the time I was here in 1999. Special thanks to Nicola of the front desk , Emilia and Hamish at the restaurant. 30 July 2014
