Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent value for money family room and breakfast We had a fantastic stay at the Edinburgh Holiday Inn. Everything was great, staff were fabulous, pool brilliant, food great. Excellent experience of a Saturday night stay, no hassle, no mistakes, nothing wrong. Brilliant. We will be going back. 12 November 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn, Edinburgh Convenient for exploring Edinburgh and the surrounding area 12 November 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Honeymoon stay paid for by grandparents Had a lovely time at this hotel our bedroom was decorated with rose petals and towels made into swans elephant and a basket with love hearts in, also chocolate and jelly beans. Lovely pool and had a great day in the zoo Other members of the family have stayed here before and emjoyed it too 11 November 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Experience Again Once again we had another great stay at the hotel. we prefer being out the city centre rather than in and being in close proximity to the airport and motorway links it hits all the right marks 11 November 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mr Thanks for an enjoyable stay at Holiday Inn Edinburgh, all the staff were very pleasant and helpful. 10 November 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by rooms at front Greta hotel but if you have a lower room at the front beware of bin men at 4.40 in the morning making a lot of noise!! 10 November 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Tiered, dated, Noisy and not recomended As always i requested a room away from lifts, but got given one right next to the lifts, which have a bell that rings every-time they arrive - so it is impossible to sleep. I was moved to a basic room (but not refunded for my upgrade I had paid for an exec room) which was tiered, dated and mouldy in the bathroom. There was a constant noise from the air condition units outside, and a humming from the bathroom - so still hard to sleep! And why can you not put plugs near the bed to plug phones into etc! Based on this stay I have cancelled future booking and will be staying else where instead 09 November 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by reliable stay My husband and I enjoy this hotel, its a no frills experience and just exactly what you need. We were disappointed with the quality of the room service food. We ordered chilli beef with rice. Very attentive waiter but food was very ordinary, unlike our last experience. 08 November 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent choice of food and the quality was good We enjoyed the choice and the excellent quality of the food at all meals. Service was good. Staff friendly and helpful. Nice to have choice of making pancakes and of buying Starbucks coffee ( shame it was 50p too expensive ) My back massages were excellent. Bedroom was extremely clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel. 08 November 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good location and friendly staff Only downside was confusion trying to park and the building work at front of hotel. 07 November 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Poor value for money Booking only a few days in advance we paid more than many in the hotel but were allocated a small room directly overlooking the rubbish bins!!!!! These were noisily emptied early in the morning. Food quality barely acceptable for the amount paid. 07 November 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Highlights! Good check in with plenty of information given about hotel apart from the rude woman who belittled the male receptionist who was speaking to us in front of us by being rude to him. Nice view from room of hills. Fantastic range of breakfast buffet and service to a very high standard. The male head waiter with the beard understood customer care clearly unlike the others who stood there smirking at non English customers who were enjoying the buffet food! During our four day stay most hotel staff were friendly including house keeping staff. It was a shame that a few members of staff were abrupt and rude letting standards down with one receptionist demanding that my husband get out of bed after 9 pm and speak to her about an unpaid bill at the reception when indeed there was no payment to make as the very hotel had given a voucher for a free first night meal which was used! This did leave a nasty feeling of being accused of lying and not being trusted as my husband did ask if we could sort the problem out in the morning but was instead made to get dressed by the rude woman when the mistake was hers. 06 November 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Trip to the zoo with our 2 grandchildren. I would highly recommend this Holiday Inn. Situated right next to the zoo was fantastic. Staff were excellent, the hotel is child friendly, lovely and clean, excellent parking facilities and very good value for money. Will definitely return.... 05 November 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Edinburgh 29 Oct Excellent stay, friendly staff, good food and not a bad bar. 04 November 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfy room, handy for city centre Good standard for the price paid, only disappointment was luke-warm breakfast from side buffet on first day but nice and hot at main buffet on second day 04 November 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service We stayed on Thursday 30th October 2014. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. One of our rooms was ready-we were early-so we left our luggage there. The receptionist gave us plenty of information about buses to and from the centre and advised us about booking a table in the restaurant. My grandson loved the fact that there was a children's buffet and made good use of it. Service in the restaurant was friendly and efficient. Breakfast was good and there was plenty of choice. One of the chefs gave my grandson a fortune cookie-a nice touch! Thank you 04 November 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel and Location Great hotel and location next to Edinburgh Zoo, 10 mins from the Airport and with local Bus services into the city outside the door. Also has a swimming pool. 04 November 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly staff, good food and comfortable bed. About the fifth time we've stayed at this hotel. Although the hotel was very busy, the staff were very pleasant and efficient(as always!) 04 November 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Average and grotty, convenient for airport A grotty, tired hotel that is well below the standards expected of a Holiday Inn. Check in did not start well when I was greeted with, "Alright son, how yer doing ?" during the process it was clear the check in person was either probably new or simply not that bright as a number of questions received the reply, "I don't know" I received no recognition as a Platinum member and neither did a colleague who checked in later the same day. The room was looking very tired and the furniture was old with some of it broken (when I reported this at check out there was no surprise which told me a lot). Food was average and forgettable. This hotel is convenient for the airport but I can think of no other reason to return. 03 November 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Clean room, but rooted in the 1980's Stayed for 1 night for business, and although the room was clean enough, this is easily the most dated Holiday Inn I have stayed in at any time in the last 5 years. Considering the number of guests that the hotel attracts, due to its proximity to the zoo and the city centre, I think they should be able to spend a little on the rooms, and try and bring them up to late 1990's standard ? 02 November 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable well placed Next to zoo, easy taxis to airport and city centre etc. Food average and dining room uninspiring considering fantastic view. Had issue with toilet seats - broken in bedroom and nothing happened despite reporting it. Also 7 seats in main downstairs ladies need attention. Feel the whole place soon in need of refurbishment. Understand the pool was great! 31 October 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by more for your money room was fine but bathrooms showing signs of age. bathroom fittings old. tiling hideous. bed was huge. décor once out of front reception a little bland. breakfast all you could ask for but waiter service not as attentive as it has been on previous visits. constantly having to ask for tea/coffee where before the staff used to look to see if you needed topping up. pool is really good. wasn't too busy even though it was a school holiday weekend. gym is well serviced with plenty of aerobic and weights machines. so much more than a city centre hotel but the bus stop is directly outside with a city centre trip £1.50 each way or a tripper £3.50 per day parking is free but spaces are a little tight. extra parking in zoo next door and hotel will refund fees. 30 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by family birthday .BEDROOM CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE.ENJOYED OUR STAY.UNFORTUNATELY HOTEL EXCEPTIONALLY BUSY WHICH RESTRICTED USE OF SWIMMING POOL AND RESTUARANT FOUND IT DIFFICULT TO COPE WITH NUMBERS OF GUESTS 30 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic service, price and quality - love it! Excellent service from staff, fab location. Great facilities, pool amazing. 30 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for kids during half term Lots of little extras provided by the hotel made this stay perfect for us as a family with two young children during half term. Balloons , activity packs, sweets/choc, kids eat free, swimming pool, travel cot, free wifi, some staff filled bottles with milk free if charge. All these really made a difference. We enjoyed our stay. 30 October 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great service though the beds could do with inspection/replacement I booked into an Executive Room as I thought this would be more comfortable and restful. It turns out all executive room overlook the road, where you get a great view but a lot of road noise. The bed was is desperate need of replacement, soft, bumpy and not in good condition. This gave me quite bad back pain. I got moved to a double room which overlooked the back of the hotel. This room was excellent, quiet, better condition of the furniture, overlooking the bar park and the zoo in the distance. If I were booking again I'd go for a double rear facing room. Unfortunately the more expensive Executive rooms are not worth the money. 29 October 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by a really enjoyable stay. Would recommend to others Stayed at The Holiday Inn Edinburgh for my dads 80th birthday. We had a lovely stay and can not fault any aspect of the hotel. The reception staff and the restaurant staff were so helpful and friendly. For such a large hotel I was amazed by the friendliness of the staff and their willingness to go that extra mile to help, and make our stay so enjoyable. The hotel was full and the restaurant staff were very busy but they went out of the way to find us a table when I explained that my mam was a diabetic and had taken her insulin and needed to eat. 23 October 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff and service Family of 4 visiting in October break and this hotel was almost perfect, only disappointment was on the food side! We got a good deal which included breakfast and dinner for adults and kids ate free. On arrival parking was good and staff were wonderful on check-in (gave me lots of information and answered all my questions). Room was nice and clean, lovely towels and bedding. We booked the pool and spa facilities from the room and when we went to the pool the staff were again great. Location is great for the Zoo and for travel to the City Centre so everything worked really well for us. The only let down for us was the food. The carvery was terrible! There was only one starter which was salad and a lot of it wasn't very fresh. The meat for the main course was dry and chewy and the veg very over-cooked (and we are honestly NOT fussy eaters). The restaurant staff were however excellent. We chose to eat in the bar the second night and the food was far superior and we were told the Sampans restaurant was also very good so my advice would be to avoid the carvery (and I would ask the hotel to look at this!). Breakfast on the first morning was lovely but on the second morning we arrived at 9.15am (breakfast served until 10am) and there was almost nothing hot left. No bread for toast (we had to ask for it) and no pastries at all. The only thing after a 10 min wait was sausage and mushrooms so this was really disappointing. We were going to Zoo so had to leave sharp so I guess there would have been more items put out but to me this just isn't good enough. We had hoped to get a good breakfast to set us up for a day out at the Zoo but within an hour we were hungry. All in all, we would come back but would hope the food improved. Closing comment, I couldn't fault the staff, the customer service in all areas was EXCELLENT! 22 October 2014
