Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Our stay We were in town for a wedding. The hotel provided shuttle service from hotel to wedding site. Which was right around the corner. Room, staff, etc was great. The only issue we had was the soap in the bathroom. It was Coconut Lime Verbena. My husband has sever allergies to coconut. I called down to the front desk, because the housekeeping line was ALWAYS busy, to request a different soap. I was informed that that was all the hotel had. Thankfully my husband didn't have a reaction when he used the soap in the shower. I would suggest having a plain scented soap on hand for situations such as ours. 10 September 2014

My only "issue" was that the hotel had a sign in the bathroom stating if I hung up my towels, they wouldn't have to use more water, save on electricity, etc., but the cleaning staff always took the towels even though I hung them up. Also, there wasn't a door sign I could put on my hotel door to have the cleaning staff not come into my room, which I would have preferred for my weeklong stay. 08 September 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Reasonable Great for the rate. Pass on the food. Overpriced for the burnt taste and smell "of the grill". Front desk staff friendly. Room clean. Only problem they never mentioned the exit was closed and needed to follow a detour on the trip! Cleaning rags left on the far side of bed (but that meant they cleaned, right?). 03 September 2014

However, this experience at the Holiday Inn Convention Center in Gurnee, IL was absolutely wonderful. The staff at every part of the hotel were very friendly and sincerely happy that we were there. Especially chef Perveen who created a delectable cuisine which was thoroughly enjoyed by us and our guests. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good hotel for Business trips to Gurnee area There are a lot of hotels in the Gurnee area but most cater to families visiting Great America them Park. The holiday Inn is one the few that focuses on the business traveler and this is a very good thing. The rooms And hallways are usually quiet at night. The Restaruarnt and bar are inviting. The staff is superb. Some constructive suggestions. The new management needs to just chill and let the staff do their jobs. They know what they need to do. The new managers are always running around getting in the way. The breakfast buffet could use an update. Maybe some variety during the week and not the same old same old eggs, bacon, sausage, hot cakes, French toast every day. How about some eggs Benny, eggs with cheese, onions, peppers, how about some toppers, shredded cheese, salsa, sour cream, chopped onions and peppers, etc. fresher breads and bag,es would be nice many morning the bakery good seems stale.and how about mixing up the potatoes with some real ones from time to time. Otherwise this is a good property. The staff is superb 19 August 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellence!!! We travel a lot and stay in A LOT of hotels everywhere. This was by far one of our best experiences. We were in town for the theme park. This hotel offered accommodations for this. But most of all the staff through out the entire hotel was over the top helpful and friendly. We've not had a lot of experiences where everyone in the entire place was this way. Front desk. Restaurant staff. Shuttle drivers. Housekeeping! All of them. Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Would recommend and totally stay again. Location great as well. Across from gurnee mall. And not far from six flags. Thanks Holiday Inn!!! 17 August 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by check in service we booked over 12 rooms fior our family reunion . The front desk requested that we pay the full amount for 2 of the rooms and presidental suite up front before we even used the rooms. The front desk staff did not want to honor our checks for our down payments, even though drawn on a federal insured bank, had to put the entire amount on a card. I was not aware of this policy before and have stayed at Holiday Inns at various locations. Some of our guest rooms were almost given away and the front desk tried not to honor the rate given for the booked rooms. We asked for extra towels and our room door was left open about 3 inches upon our return. The lighting in the room is very dim. Before I paid for the total cost of the rooms, I was told the meeting room we requested was not available, after paying, all types of meeting room were avaiable. I feel as though my money was not good enough to stay at the hotel and was treated like a second-hand citizen. I am shocked at the run around I was given by the front desk staff when trying to stay at thIs Holiday Inn. I have not had this type of problem with any other Holiday Inn. I must say that the banquet and breakfast staff and food was very good, and they were very polite. 12 August 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Customer Service I mention when I checked in I was an IHG member and later when I went to ask for towels, but never got the complimentary gift bag. Also, in registering there was an error my room was booked for 3 adults and 3 children. This was an error. I never noticed it till the night before my stay when I printed out the conformation. I told them at the front desk and I was told they could not take off the charge for the extra adult. Not happy about that, but overall it was a nice hotel and a nice stay. 11 August 2014
