Madrid is a city of many sights, steeped in history. Wander around and take in famous landmarks including the Palacio de Cibeles and the Royal Palace of Madrid. The city also houses almost 50 museums, including the Naval Museum, Museum of Costume and the Bullfighting Museum.
If you fancy a shopping trip, look no further than El Corte Ingle, a huge department store. There are a number of other mainstream brands and retailers within walking distance. If, on the other hand, you fancy splashing the cash and indulging in some exclusive designer brands, then go to the Salamanca District. The city also hosts a number of flea markets with vintage specials, bargains and one offs.
Football fans need no introduction to Real Madrid, who play their games at the city’s Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. In the same city, Atlético Madrid play at the Vincente Calderón Stadium. Even if you can’t catch a game, a stadium tour at either will be a hit with the whole family.
You can fly direct to Madrid from most major UK airports, including London Airports, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Cardiff. The Spanish high speed rail network also connects the capital with other major Spanish cities and other European ones too.

I stayed one night at this hotel before meeting friends at their home in Spain. The staff was friendly and English speaking. The food offered at their Bar/Restaurant was excellent and reasonably[More]
priced. My room was very nicely decorated, very clean, and even had a gorgeous bathtub. They included a coffee set up int he room, which I really appreciaed. Wifi was free and easy to connect to. The breakfast buffet was large with a good selection of fresh food. Check out was fast and easy, and the staff took the time to explain to me how to best get to where I was going via subway and bus lines. The only drawback I found that despite being called an airport hotel, they do not offer a shuttle service. I paid 30, Euros to get to the hotel via taxi. [Less]
I liked the convenience of the Alcorcon train and metro station to the hotel (5 min. walk). However, the food options are limited to the restaurant next door and the food places in a mall that is 5[More]

The biggest issue with this hotel is the lack of self-laundry. We asked if there was an on-site self laundry and was told there was. We found out there was laundry but it was not self laundry and it was very expensive. One undergarment was 2 euros! We washed our clothes in our room. It made things a bit difficult! [Less]
