Have used this hotel on numerous occasions and never been disappointed. Good location, free parking, great rooms and excellent breakfasr.
Beautiful Hotel, almost perfect stay.
Starting with the positives, of which there are many:
Formerly Liverpool's airport, this is a stunning piece of local history turned into a beautiful hotel. In my opinion it really has the 'wow'
factor. Our suite was situated in the old control tower and was the most interesting, unique hotel room I've ever experienced.
We were greeted at reception by friendly, courteous staff and definitely warmed the experience of being welcomed.
I had booked the ambassador suite as this was a special occasion, when we got to the room we were in awe of the space - such an interesting suite of rooms with excellent places for relaxing in the sitting room and the private roof terrace. The bed, situated down a small curved staircase was huge and very comfortable.
Access to the club lounge was excellent, staff were very prompt at responding to all our needs. We were particularly impressed with the welcome gift of pastries and a bottle of wine which were unexpectedly brought to our room.
Sadly, that brings us to the negatives:
The room decor, while stylish and in keeping with the art deco building, was a little tired. There were visible signs of wear and tear, threadbare edges to the stair carpets etc. This is super-picky and ultimately, this did not detract from our enjoyment of the room, and was more than compensated by the attentiveness of the hotel staff.
A little less positive however was our experience at breakfast. The orange juice dispenser, which had just been refilled, seems to have had a lot of mouldy black lumps floating round in it, which found their way into our glasses. This left a bitter taste in more than one sense.
This by itself would not normally be reason enough for me to complain - these things happen - but I was somewhat disappointed by the apathy I perceived in the server's response when we brought it to their attention.
This is something I would have been pleased to raise with reception on check-out except, the lobby was busy and they didn't ask if everything had been to our satisfaction, and I didn't feel like pursuing the issue would have gotten us very far. So unfortunately this meant that we ended a thus-far exemplary stay feeling a little disappointed, which is a shame.
All in all I would (and have already) recommend this hotel in the most positive terms to friends and family. Thank you for an (almost) perfect stay. [Less]
A really nice place to stay when on business
Due to work, I am now staying at this hotel on an almost weekly basis and have been very happy with the hotel so far.
It is very well presented and the staff are really wonderful, nothing is a bother
to them and they are all happy and friendly.
With access to the gym next door included there is something to entertain on an evening and although near the airport, there is not very much noise on a night time to disturb your sleep.
While the menu in the bar is not expansive, everything I have tried so far as been well made, presented and satisfying. Some plainer options on the menu would be nice for those of us who use the hotel as a second home but that's hardly a major issue. In the restaurant the food I have tried there has been excellent and not too expensive either so happy to recommend.
The rooms are nice and comfortable and wifi is provided, though the quality of Internet varies, I would imagine this will be down to the number of q guests using the service. All the rooms have a bath with built in shower, however, if like me you are taller than about 5'7" you will need to crouch to use the shower properly as it's very low.
The in room TV is very limited, although Sky Sports is provided along with the four main terrestrial channels, the image quality is poor and there are no Freeview channels (i.e. Dave) available which seems strange since they are free to air. Since staying here I have found myself using Netflix over the wifi rather than the in room TV.
All in all though, the positives heavily out weigh the negatives and it is a pleasant place to hole up while away from home. [Less]
