Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by comfortable beds Thought the over all experience was good, great staff, nice rooms and a great breakfast to start the day. We stayed seven days and enjoyed many of the sights in and around San Diego that I hadn't seen in over 30 years. It was nice to return to a clean room at the end of each adventurous day. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Customer Service of the staff Front desk personnel greeted guests routinely, they were each professional and friendly in conducting business and answering questions, in person and over the telephone. When we called the hotel in advance of our stay, the manager was helpful with specific requests and we were accommodated. Have stayed at this property before and were satisfied with both stays. Do recommend this property to others who will visit in San Diego. La Mesa is not downtown, but only a few miles by freeway, to tourist attractions. July 19, 2015

Our only gripe was the noise of the air conditioning unit which cycled constantly for the duration of our stay and which made the room either too hot or too told with its automatic temperature handling. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Our new favorite My wife and I travel to San Diego often to see our grandson and of course his parents. They reside in El Cajon and we like to be as close as possible during our stay. This was our first test run at Holiday Inn Express La Mesa and what a difference over most! The staff was awesome, the greeting always sets the tone and not only did the desk staff know who we were they had us noted as a platinum member and for the first time in IHG membership we felt like the staff was genuine in appreciation of our business. Every time we walked past the desk we were greeted by name and asked if we were in need of anything. The property is nothing special to look at and some of the hallways, etc. look dated but the room was spotless. I am sure everyone who has stayed in a hotel,no matter how prestigious,has noted the ugly parts of the bathrooms where maintenance just seems overlooked...NOT at this hotel, the bathroom appeared as if had just been refinished although it was more just the staff keeping things tip-top. We enjoyed our stay and the Holiday Inn San Diego-La Mesa is our hotel of choice from here on when we visit our precious grandson, (and of course his parents). July 8, 2015
