Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn - Stratford city Overall good hotel for the money paid. Could do with free parking for guest staying there. Bar staff need to be more attentive, as when I used the bar, it was not busy - so no reason to be slow and felt the staff were dragging their feet. Beware - check final bill properly as we were overcharged but corrected with no explanations. 22 February 2015

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel and room are lovely but bar staff were so rude. My partner and I don't often stay at hotels, but whenever we do, it is usually at the Holiday Inn at Stratford Westfield. We've been here a number of times since its opening and have always had positive experiences. The hotel itself is practical due to its location and the rooms and desk staff are always lovely. However, during our most recent stay, in the evening I headed towards the bar to claim the 2 complimentary drinks for being IHG members. Once alone at the bar, I was rudely greeted by 2 barmen. As this was my first time claiming the drinks, I just asked to simply confirm whether this was place where I'd be able to receive the drinks. The barman took my 2 vouchers and said with a straight face "No, we don't do that here. Where did you get these from?". Confused, I'd replied I'd received them from the reception area when I'd checked in. At which point the 2nd barman found this extremely hilarious apparently as he began laughing and clapping the back of the barman who spoke to me. Realising I was being made fun of, understandably I was not pleased. Trying to rise above the situation however, I proceeded to ask which non-alcoholic beverages were available. Again, I was met with unappreciated sarcasm and rudeness. The reply I received from the same barman was "Just tell me what you want. If we don't have it I'll go out and buy it for you." Of course with his trusty sidekick laughing raucously beside him. I could not believe the arrogance and rudeness of this man. All he needed to do was present me with a drinks menu but instead, because I was so offended, frustrated and had ran out of patience at this point, I ended up ordering whatever I could see in the fridge behind him just so I could get away from his insolence. Attempting to reply with something which I could only imagine to have been be oh so witty, I cut him short and requested that he just made my drinks please. Finally he went to fetch my drinks, during which time the young sidekick thought it would be appropriate to begin asking probing questions about my nationality. Clearly unimpressed, I hesitated to answer, but this was met with blind obliviousness as he then continued to spout irrelevant culture facts which weren't even applicable to my nationality. The 1st barman returned with my beverages, (glasses only half filled might I add) and attempted to say hello in a language he had ignorantly assumed as my own, but I was so over this situation I took the glasses and left hastily. All of this turned what should have been a simple, pleasant 2 minute interaction into a much longer, much more negative experience. Something so small and unimportant still coloured the rest of my night with anger and frustration which was the most unfortunate effect as I was only there for one night as a Valentines treat with my partner. Something about being made fun of and humiliated tends to take away that fuzzy romantic feeling you were there for in the first place. After paying a reasonable amount for a night in this hotel, the service I'd received in that moment was beyond unacceptable. The 2 barmen should consider themselves lucky I managed to contain my frustration at the time and did not personally complain to the manager during my check out as I just wanted to enjoy whatever time we had left there and did not want to leave on a sour note. It was such a shame as the evening was going so well. The hotel room was lovely as usual and every other member of staff I had dealt with were professional and wonderful. Overall, would I go back to the hotel again next time? Probably. Would I recommend it for others to stay? Probably not. Will I be using their bar services ever again? Definitely not. 21 February 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Convenient Location Conveniently situated if you're working in the city. Trains every few minutes out to Stratford from Liverpool Street. Short walk from the station and near to Westfield Centre for shopping and food. Staff friendly, attentive and efficient. Up to the usual Holiday Inn standard. 19 February 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Clean Tidy and Welcoming This hotel is great value for its location, a train stop away from Liverpool Street enabling easy access to the City. Welcoming greet at reception. Only tiny negative was the lifts was very slow on the day of check out. You can wait for around 4 minutes for a lift. 18 February 2015
