We had to stay in the area for a family event and took our youngest daughter with us. It's not the best looking building from outside but once you step into reception it's attractively laid out and decorated . The room wasn't huge and the bathroom is compact but we expected that closer to London.
The staff were great, the reception areas were spacious. Everywhere was very clean and the food was good quality.
Our daughter loved the pool, which was clean and warm. Also despite being vegetarian, the children's buffet catered well for her.
The hotel felt smart but informal which is a hard balance to achieve on a busy bank holiday weekend. We thought it very good value for money for the area.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ancient Bertie satisfying stay
On arrival the external appearance of the hotel was one of drabness and tiredness - presumably built in the 60's and in need of a rebuild. The reception area carpet was badly stained and the outlook from the breakfast dining area bleak with many of the surrounding double glazed windows 'misted-up'. It was noticeable that the glazing to the dining area was single pane and the flooring dated plastic tiling. Furniture needed updating. The bar area was comfortable and welcoming though - as is usual for Holiday Inn - the bar prices were excessive. The reception area was presentable and the staff polite and helpful. The bedroom and bathroom were clean, comfortable and adequate for our short stay. We did not eat in the restaurant as we were attending a function in a nearby hotel otherwise we would have done so.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by harrison1 Good service. Bad beds.
Choice of soft or firm pillows excellent. Bed we would be more comfortable in coffins! Value bed wise minus ten. Service you could not fault it. Food a lot to be desired for the price.
