Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Welcome surprise at Mediacity, Manchester. I haven't stayed at a Holiday Inn for a long time as I find many are old and in need of a facelift. We booked the new Holiday Inn at Mediacity in Manchester more out of necessity of our budget but I would definitely stay again. The front desk staff were excellent. Very polite, chatty, friendly and efficient - they were also all in their Christmas jumpers! I stay in a lot of high end luxury hotels with my job and the service from the Holiday Inn staff was easily on a par with those places. The reception area is a decent size and has plenty of seating if you have to wait to be seen to, which we didn't. We had a double room which was very clean, spacious and modern which you would expect with a new build. Nice colours and very smart. Plenty of power supplies. There was also FREE WIFI! One of the things I always look out for when travelling. The hotel has a Marco Pierre White restaurant on site which was a great surprise! Rather than heading into Manchester to wander around looking for a place to eat before the gig, we went there instead. Staff were great and the food was lovely. A multi storey car park is just around the corner, about a 3 minute walk away, and the Holiday Inn will process your ticket which gives you a discount when leaving the car park. I'm not sure where the Metro stop was but I don't think its far. The only negative comment is that double bed gave slightly in the middle, which didn't bother me so much but my partner found it a little annoying when trying to get comfortable. We didn't hear a sound at night above, around or outside. If one were being picky, the only fault was that two or three curtain hooks needed repair. 13 December 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent hotel Stayed here as going to a concert in The Lowry. So pleased we chose this out of many others. Parking was close and the hotel offered a reduced rate although the metro link was a minute away. Easy fast check in with friendly efficient staff who were extremely helpful. Our room was modern, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Furnishings were lovely and bathroom immaculate with a great shower. The room had a mini fridge and coffee and tea making facilities aswell as a work desk and armchair. It was lovely to return to a warm comfy room on a freezing cold evening. The breakfast was included in our rate and could not be better, so much choice and all tasty and served well buffet style and constantly replenished. Just one thing which is a shame to have to mention; when we had lunch on the first day even though the restaurant and staff were excellent with a wide choice of dishes, we opted for pizzas which were lovely with great toppings however, when they arrived they were only warm not piping hot as you would expect pizza to be. Otherwise it would have been excellent. 11 December 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by FAULTLESS Having not been to this hotel before, we were looking for somewhere close to ther Lowry Centre for an evening concert. If you are looking for somewhere similar, look no further than the Holiday Inn, Media City. First class class in every way. From check-in to check-out, nothing was too much of a problem. Great food in Marco's Restaurant (despite not booking they managed to fit us in as we were early evening), good Starbucks concession on site, friendly staff and a buzzy location. 11 December 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Breakfast Service Everything else about our stay was excellent, reception staff were particularly helpful and courteous. However breakfast experience was dreadful. Unhelpful and surly staff, un cleared tables, no service as regards choice of tea or coffee, or offer of poached or scrambled eggs etc. as stated by the MD. I appreciate this was a busy time at breakfast, and we were warned it would be, but the hotel knows it is going to be busy and should cater for and manage that time accordingly, I suggest with extra appropriately trained staffing. As this is a hotel serving the new BBC/media City and the restaurant is Marco Pierre White branded I suggest you invite MPH to come and experience the restaurant at this time - I'm sure he would not be happy. Mattress to bed was not made for two people, being of the roll to the middle variety. 09 December 2014
