During my recent stay the staff was nice, but my room had an odor.

This is by far the worst hotel that I have stayed at in quite a while. At check-in, the clerk took my credit card, and said it was declined, that I should call my bank or try another card. I gave a second card, which was processed problem free. Upon calling my credit card company to inquire why my card had been declined, I was told the they had no record of any attempted transactions, and that most likely it was human error or a faulty credit card terminal.I'm guessing it was the latter, as the terminal in this hotel is not the only thing that needs fixing.The entire place is falling apart. The hallway carpet near the laundry room smelled like urine. The first room I was assigned had a major dripping problem in the tub, not to mention that the water spout in the shower was completely loose . I called the front desk to advise them of the damages, so I would not be blamed and charged for them, and to ask for a different room. They said they would "upgrade" me to a suite to compensate for my inconvenience. They put me in a wheelchair access suite......the bed was extremely low to the ground (which would be fantastic if I was in a wheelchair, but I'm NOT!!!) The next morning I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth, and I NEARLY was in need of a wheelchair........ water was leaking from the ceiling thus making the floor extremely slippery. The centipede that was in the shower didn't seem to have a problem moving around.
When I checked out I voiced my displeasure to a staff member , whom said "I apologize sir, but yes this place IS falling apart" . The girl who did my checkout was extremely apologetic and reduced the price of the room. I have stayed at many IHG brand hotels in the past, but have never had such a horrible experience, which is why I can't believe this is a Holiday Inn.

The Hotel was convenient for travelling east and west of the old City. The Hotel shuttle is free to the Airport where one can get a bus to the subway to access downtown. It is a little time consuming to do this but very inexpensive. The rooms are kept very clean during the stay and staff at the front desk and friendly and helpful to travelers.
