Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by It's an ok hotel Rooms and whole hotel were nice. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Had a bad experience in trying to retrieve an item that I left behind. Staff did not try to help me retrieve my item. Complimentary coffee is from 12am to 6am in which they remove the coffee after those hours. 6am to 10am would be a more reasonable time for coffee drinking. Restaurant food was ok, it was convenient since it was at the hotel. The gym was clean and had a reasonable amount of equipment to work with. 28 July 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service for Delayed Travel We had reservations for a late 11pm check-in. We were on a 3 hour delay on Amtrak into Penn Station, and another 40 minute delay on Airtrain at the Newark Liberty Airport. At 3 AM and a total of a 4 hour delay, the hotel still had the shuttle at the airport to pick us up so we could get 4 hours of sleep prior to our 9am flight to San Francisco. 24 July 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Just no Just a suggestion - if you're going to have a fitness center that's open 24 hours a day - it's not a very good idea to put a guest in a room right outside of it. The room smelled like a gym sock. Yay. Since the gym was open, someone decided to work out at 1:00 am. He'd lift his weights, do his sets, get tired, and then drop them from shoulder height to the floor, making a loud booming noise. This went on for over an hour until I finally figured out what it was and complained. The employee at the front desk did take care of it, but at that point, it was already 3 am and when you have to get up at 5, there's no chance of sleep. An employee had already loaded a bunch of bottles or unloaded - I'm not sure - right outside of my room into a storage area around 12:30. I'm not sure what was happening there - it was a lot of noise involving glasses. On a totally unrelated to that note, the air conditioner did not work very well. The fan wouldn't stay on and even if I turned the air down to 60, neither would the unit. So, basically, it was a long, hot, miserable night during which I got no sleep and that lack of sleep made the next day more difficult than it should have been. 21 July 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Ijaina was very nice to me and my family. Ijaina has very great customer service skills she was able to answer every question my family and I had to ask! My son has autism and she was even able to make him smile and that really made us happy. I will recomend this property to eveyone I know who is traveling!! It was very plesant staying here everything was Perfect food,room and staff! Thanks again for everything!!! 17 July 2014

Every member of the staff was kind, friendly and made our stay wonderful from the Front Office Manager, Gerald, to the other front office staff to the shuttle drivers to the maintenance/repairman to the restaurant staff. We wound up at this hotel under unpleasant circumstances (our flight on the way to a vacation was delayed causing a 3 day layover in Newark.) The wonderful experience at this Holiday Inn completely made up for the travel inconvenience. We were traveling with two 2 year olds and the staff consistently went well beyond necessary to accommodate us and make our experience great. I travel frequently for work and this is one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. 17 July 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Visit to Newark - if a bit damp The room was good, clean and comfortable - lots of hot water -all things that I need for my business travel. However, at wait staff at breakfast knocked over the vase on the table and I was soaked from waist to knees. She was very apologetic, but she had nothing in the way of solution to my problem: I had a business meeting in an hour. I got my room key back, ironed and blow dried everything dry and got breakfast done before my ride arrived. All of that was an accident and stuff happens: what shouldn't have happened was the automatic 15% gratuity added to my bill. 14 July 2014
