This is an excellent hotel benefitting from an on-site free car park located in Jesmond, a very nice area, a 15 minute walk just north of the city centre.
The hotel lobby, bar and restaurant are modern, clean and pleasant with welcoming attentive staff throughout.
My hotel room was very clean, modern, meticulously set out, quiet and comfortable.
The en-suite has a shower but no bath which rather begged the question why was there complimentary bath foam and not shower gel?
The room was well stocked with complimentary tea, coffee, water, orange juice and snacks and had a refrigerator which can be a real bonus if you bring your own foods and drinks for any reason.
The room had a hair drier, iron and ironing board.
The double bed was fantastically comfortable and came with a choice of hard or soft pillows. I slept brilliantly.
The hotel is 100m from Jesmond metro station with frequent trains into the city centre if you don't want to walk. Gateshead Stadium is an 8 minute metro ride away so I've booked to stay at this hotel again in July when the English Schools Championships take place.

From the moment I was greeted by the Manager I knew this was going to be a bad stay. I am (was) a very loyal IHG customer, a Platinum member for 10 years, but I am now looking around for a new hotel group as a result of this stay.
The Manager was dismissive of any request I made to him. I needed somewhere to get changed and he insisted I used the toilets, which were filthy. Even if there wasn't a free room to briefly get changed in (which I can't believe in an hotel of that size), his attitude was disgraceful. The room was cramped and the heater was broken. Breakfast was dreadful, I was interrogated by the girl who greeted me as to whether or not I had paid (she didn't seem to believe that I had), and then when I made it through the interrogation the food was dreadful and the crockery (cups anyway) were dirty.
I will never go near this hotel again.
