Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by most unique Holiday Inn!! This hotel is worth visiting just for the amazing architecture in its construction alone.. Designed as part of the Vulcano Buono centre by STarchitect Renzo Piano (who also did the 'Shard' in London!) its design will leave you impressed. Location: for those with a car its easy to access via a major motorway A30/A16.. for those on foot like us, its best to get the train to Nola (Trenitalia from Salerno) or the Circumvusivio train from Naples Garibaldi to Nola (different station!) Only way to Hotel from here is by taxi which the hotel will arrange for 15euro flat fare. (pay the driver directly upon arrival at hotel) Hotel: Incredible! You approach what looks like a small Volcano! covered in shrubbery and grass. the carpark around it (2000cars) gives away its disguise. Entry to the hotel is along a drive cut out of the side of the Vulcano. reception is huge, 3 floor high ceiling, spacious and bright with open plan Bar, Lounge, Restaurant, seating area. Reception and Check in: Staff had poor English, there was no welcome or even hello (though we tried our best Italian!). We were allocated room on second floor.. no info on amenities or services.. key allocated and lift gestured to. (to be fair we had emailed the hotel previous day ref; transport from Nola and the replies were friendly and courteous and in perfect English) Room: was stylish but surprisingly small.. this is because over 40% of the room space is the outside balcony! There was no balcony furniture.. (this was only for guests on the 3rd floor!) Room was spotlessly clean and neat but missing the usual Holiday Inn touches of pen and paper, real glasses (they were plastic!) and had one sad childlike piece of art. TV had one English channel but the fast wifi made up for this. Beds were very comfortable and there was no noises or rumbling to be heard though we were in the middle of a shopping mall/volcano! A/C worked perfectly (and silently) Bathroom.. Large (in comparison to the bedroom) clean and big soft towels and good range of hygiene products. Meals: with a such a huge shopping centre attached, we didn't eat dinner at the hotel but at some of the many restaurants in the Mall. We did have breakfast which was extensive. Service was friendly and prompt though it was self service.. BIG buffet of everything with good range of hot cooked food, bacon, sausage, eggs etc plus lots of local cold meats and cheese. Unlimited quantities of all including great selection of pastries and cakes.. Best breakfast of our trip so far! Location 2: The Vulcano has over 100 shops and restaurants so shoppers and foodaholics will have a great time. there is also a cinemaplex with latest movies and a HUGE gym, with pool etc (15€ extra for hotel guests). Shops and supermarket (Auchan) are open til 10pm.. Nothing to see outside of the hotel unless you go hillwalking 4 kms away.. or go back to Nola for train to Naples (35minutes) or Salerno (30 minutes). Nola town is small and quaint with some Basilica and other buildings of interest. Overall very interesting Hotel and a comfortable stay but staff should learn a short checklist of services to explain to guest who don't speak Italian and 2 chairs on the balcony would have been nice to sit out on for some fresh air. Other than that an enjoyable experience. 27 January 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good place and service but noisy room The place is amazing and I and my wife were in the same hotel before. This time the whether was so windy and the windows makes a lot of noise. Overall the experience was good 04 January 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bad luck Living in a "vulcano", what a great idea, but... At check-in staff did not know the roomtype booked, and they hardly spoke English. We booked a superior room. We wanted the balcony facing the inside of the vulcano. Here we could sit in the evening with a glass of wine. On the website there were two chairs and a table on the terrasse in superior rooms. Reality: Only some of the rooms on the 3rd floor were equipped with that. Not one room on the 2nd floor had chairs on the balcony. We were at 2nd floor. Bad luck. Talking about chairs: Only ONE chair in a superior room. That is not Holiday Inn standard: One person sitting on the bed for a week. Bad luck. We do expect drawers in a Superior room. Underwear, socks and many other things were "staying" on the writing table and on the floor. Do you know, how much stuff my wife brings on our holidays? One glance from the door and you could see it all. No discussion about: Where did you put this, and where did you put that? Bad luck. In the bar: Expect to collect the beers at the bar. We were served only twice in a week. Bad luck. Restaurant were modest. One evening we met six of your hotel guests in a nearby fastfood restaurant. We could have used the restaurant for one week, but used it only twice. Food was not served as described in menu: We ordered chicken with mushrooms and baked vegetables. Served: Chicken not with one mushroom and fried potatoes. Bad luck. Breakfast: If you like cakes for breakfast, then it looked good. If you want bread and fresh fruit, this is not the place. Bread-rolls were NOT from the same day. You could not cut it, you could not bite it. Bad luck. On Sunday: No hot water equals no bath. Bad luck. We were offered a new room, but the water was also cold. Monday: No cold water. Bad luck. Internetconnection had to be renewed every day... Dearest Holiday Inn, We have never before used your internetconnection to try to book a room in another place. We did that the first four nights. We did not succeed. So we stayed. You can easily improve: Speak English. At least two chairs in a room. Give the guests an experience in your restaurant. They will stay and come back many nights. If you do not improve, we will not. We were lucky anyway. You gave us only sunny days with nice weather. So you get in return sunny wishes from your customers A & JA PS: You asked for a review is in the end of your survey, where you want us to tell you about our recent stay. Writing this review took us half an hour. Then we were thrown off you server. So we had to write it twice. Bad luck. 01 January 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by good location for shopping and food nice place for stopping point between Naples and pompei. easy to access to shopping mall and food court. Clean room and Nice view Balcony. one thing I do not like, The staff over there, I felt uncomfortable moment. I request two keys for the room but she, reception, denied my request. It was first time like this. I do not get it at all. Why not!!! There's no welcoming for IHG member..... 06 December 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A excellent nights sleep and excellent service We stayed for 4 nights, everyone of the staff was brilliant and very helpful in every way, We needed a taxi to take us to Vesuvius, Pompeii and the Airport Ralph on the desk arranged for Paulo to be our driver, he was great. If you need a driver ask for Paulo, this hotel is ideal for shopping as it's in a Mall which has a Spa in it. That was very good also. The down side was English speaking channels on the TV were very limited. We will return to this hotel again. 02 November 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 clean and modern very clean and modern. Friendly enough staff; tried their best to communicate in English. great breakfast. Downside was they had a pizza festival for a week; started at 6pm and ended at 12midnight. Also, no form of relaxation e.g. pool or outdoor activities. No organised excursions. No public transportations apart from expensive taxis; so you are really stuck without a car. Great for shopping and eating; all within the enclosure. 28 July 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by comfortable bed and great staff The staff was very nice and helpfull. The beds were very comfortable, and it was nice to have a balcony with the circle view. It was nice to find out the mall just under the hotel. 05 June 2014
